  1. Right now, I am using Lasix and boy can it make you go to the potty. Each diaper change is 2-3 times heavier than normal.
  2. I had a medical grade stent inserted by my doctor. I had to have it removed as it migrated partially into my bladder. I am now using a modified catheter. The retrieval line is short enough that it is within my urethra, and I have to use a small (in diameter) crochet hook to pull the catheter out. My doctor is very on board with this (he is an old friend) told me that when using silicone catheters that they may remain in up to 3 months without problems. Anything longer that 3 months should be changed.
  3. Since I have had the stents implanted it has been drip - drip - drip all the time. So I have achieved what I wanted. Before the stents I might have chosen the pill. But I would have wanted it to be temporary. Take the pill and become incontinent for 1-3 months (depending on the person). It would be nice if the the pill built up in your system to last longer each time.
  4. Been doing fine. Pain is gone and I go in for a checkup on Friday. There is now (at least in my mind) more sensation as I dribble. When I get up from a chair or bed there is a faster, larger flow as my bladder empties. In the morning my diaper is wetter than it used to be.
  5. Ow, ow, dull ache. Was told that it will go away in a couple of days. If it lasts longer to go in and have it checked out. That was the bad part. The good part is still leaking uncontrollably and the way the stents are in there should not be any urine retention. Because of that my bladder should shrink quite a bit as there will be no urine being held inside of me. I also like that I don't feel a catheter tube in my urethra. I now have no choice on whether to wear diapers now or not. I cannot just hook the retrieval line and release the water from the balloon to remove it. I still have to go in Friday of next week to make sure everything is in place, no migration. If everything is good then I don't need to see him until my next urologist appointment. Good thing I have been stocking up.
  6. Yeah! Tomorrow I get have the tandem Urolume stents inserted. My urologist was able to get it approved on the basis that it would, and I quote, "improve my quality of life". So unlike the modified Foley catheter that I can take out using the retrieval line, the stents are in there to stay. He wants me to come in for checkups at least every six months to make sure everything is alright.
  7. You have to remember they are professionals. No matter what they think they still have to go by the medical standards. They have to make sure that any and all information about you is private. You also have to keep in mind that no matter what they think it is still all up to to you. What you decide to do is what will be done.
  8. My urologist is a friend of mine. I have known him for many years. He has told me that officially he could not condone what I did. Unofficially he said as long as I was not hurting myself to have fun. He just wanted to monitor things to make sure everything was alright. He has gotten approval to place a tandem urolume stent from my insurance company. Not much will change, will still have no urinary control. Will keep dripping 24/7 just like it has for the last 10 months. Just won't have the Foley tube inside anymore.
  9. When I was using a modified Foley (one that had its end 2-3 inches within my urethra) I was able to wear it for 30 days (latex). However when I used a silicon one I was able to keep it in for 90 days with no problems. When it was needed to change I just pulled the retrieval line and removed the plug on the inflation tube. The durations were suggested to me by a urologist.
  10. I never thought my doc would be unofficially supportive. Though I have known him for half my life and he is used to strange things from me.
  11. If I use overnight ones like I have today about 3. If I use pullups then about 8.
  12. Hi I just wanted to put my 4 cents in (inflation). Just letting you know this is my first (second) post. I had first posted on the Stents topic but then noticed that it wasn’t very active. I decided to copy the post to here (with some revisions) as this was a more active topic. I have tried the 12-month plan for over two years without much result. So I have taken things in hand. (For everyone's peace of mind I am letting you know that everything was done in a strictly sterile environment and I have some medical training.) Using a 14f catheter inserted properly into the bladder, which was then modified by shortening it and plugging the hole for the saline solution. The catheter was being held by a medical hemostat. Then I used a strong dental floss sewn through the end of the catheter. Once the catheter was released it settled about 3-inches within my body with only the string sticking out. I immediately started dribbling and had to put a diaper on right away. It has now been 3 months without any problems. During this time I have seen my urologist. He examined me and gave me a clean bill of health. He says that he cannot approve of what I did, but since it was done there is not much he can do but keep a check on my health. He did ask if I wanted to see a psychologist. I said no, that I was happy with my life. I just had my 3 month checkup and he said everything was fine. Very little incrustation, no wearing down of the urethra, and no UTIs. The kidneys are functioning fine though my bladder has shrunk some. Unless any problems crop up I am to see him in 3 months at which time he suggests to switch out the catheter. (He told me though that he never said that as he could medically give no advice.) I cannot feel the catheter within me. There is no pain and it is not uncomfortable. I just have to remember to keep plenty of diapers on hand. So here I sit, typing away, feeling the urine dribbling out of me, wet and happy as a clam.
