I have found quite a few LG's with the name "Emily". I wonder how that comes to be? I always thought it an older person's name, such as an aunt

It probably reflects a larger trend on the part of what names parents choose for their kids these days--the pendulum is swinging back toward the traditional, and adult LGs pick up on this. Besides, "Emily" in particular is unambiguously feminine.

  2. I chose the name "Rachel Emily" over just "Rachel" precisely because I figured it would be unique. I've yet to see another one here.

As far as the name "Kayla" is concerned, that seems to be a more common name these days. Two of my friends happen to have that name.

  3. I voted for bulk, though truthfully I'd prefer a middle ground between "thin medical diaper" and "futon between the legs." Ideally, a good diaper would prevent leaks both during the day and at night (when I can't wear cloth for practical reasons, such as when traveling).

Has anyone had a dream like this? My latest diapered dream which I've had for a few nights featured a mid-twentieth century Mum. The Dream was triggered by the British Airways cradle seat advert that I found on youtube. I was gazing up at her looking down at me smiling with her gaze focused wholly on me while she cradled me in her arms. I was wearing a nothing but a disposable diaper. All I remember about her is red lipstick on her lips in her ears were small pearl stud earrings and around her neck was a 46 cm length pearl necklace, strung with knots between each pearl. Not only that but I've been thinking about the idea of a Mum from the mid twentieth century living in the modern day, changing a disposable diaper

In a recent thread about baby powder, in which I recommended the Johnson's talcum powder with the red "original" circle because it smelled like the...well...original, Someone posted that the johnson's cornstarch powder smelled the same and stronger. Well, I set aside my aversion to cornstarch to give it a try. It smells almost just like the Rite-Aid talc that I abandoned because they changed its scent to a kind of flowery scent. It might be good as foot powder but for baby powder? NO

Forgive me if you mentioned this elsewhere, but I'm curious. Why do you dislike cornstarch? I find it clears up rashes far faster than talcum powder does.

  6. I generally lie sideways on my bed, with my legs hanging over the edge. I put the brief/diaper down on the bed, then transfer from my wheelchair. As I'm transferring I try to center myself on the diaper as much as possible before sitting down, then pull it between my legs and tape/pin.

In a public restroom, it's a bit more challenging. I'll lay the brief on the wheelchair seat and transfer from the toilet. Once in the wheelchair seat I try to come as close to lying down as I can, then I pull the brief up between my legs and tape it up. Centering can be a good deal harder, since I have so much less room to move around. Invariably I have to adjust the brief an inch or two to the left or right before I can tape it on.

Perhaps the economic cost of diapering varies from person to person. If a person has private washing and drying machines, then the out of pocket money for detergent, water and heating might not be a lot per load. Need a coin laundry and here in Southern California the average price is USA$1.50 per wash and USA$1.50 for 45 minutes of drying, and usually it takes 60 minutes of drying.

I prefer to sleep in cotton gauze diapers, because that is how I grew up. Only such diapers enhance my AB experience. But I realize that although I own my washing equipment, my time doing the washing has a cost. So, nearly 3 years ago I started using DyDee diaper service. They claim to recycle water and recover heat from used water. The cash cost for my DyDee service is less than better disposables.

Wondering why you said "financially possible." Cloth diapers are reusable; disposables cost more and are not. I buy diaper flannel for around $4 a yard. Cloth diapers will last indefinitely. Waterproof pants are an added expense, but they, too, are washable and reusable. I also make soaker panels out of Zorb--once again, they can be washed, dried, and reused. I've never tried a disposable diaper, but I'd imagine that cloth diapers are more comfortable. Of course being born in 1959, that's what I wore as a baby.

I said that because cloth prefolds for me cost about $30 apiece. I have no sewing machine--no sewing skill, really--so sewing my own is out. The apartment bloc I live in has one small washer for six people, and it can handle only two, maybe three prefold diapers at a time, (Some of my diapers are thicker than others). Any more and they don't get fully clean, and they come out soaking wet (the spin cycle can't handle the amount). That means I have to put them in the dryer longer.

When your health turns to crap and you have someone that does it for you,it definitely loses its appeal

Trust me , in my state when you qualify to be in a nursing home ,you can get an aide, and at 47 the nursing home is definitely not my scene, nor was it when I first qualified ten years ago.

Speaking as someone with an aide who helps me change
