  1. Ah, yes. THE question--"why?" I've tried to solve that one since childhood, and I
  2. At the time, I wet mainly when I was sitting in my wheelchair, but didn't do it often lying down. The diapers were mainly a "just in case" measure. I can only guess that gravity took hold once I got in the chair. These days I don't think a urinal would work for me, either, since I wet in whatever position I happen to be in.
  3. Attends with double tapes on the sides, and...ditto. Yes, Attends are lousy, but that's what my insurance pays for....
  4. I've been through this twice since I became incontinent, and each time they gave me a urinal rather than put me in diapers. I detest urinals because I find it hard to urinate in them without spilling the contents all over my sheets. When I told them I preferred using diapers, they didn't give me any trouble--I got my diapers. But yeah, I do wish could have brought my own from home--since my hospital stays were unexpected (both because of serious injuries) there was no way I could plan ahead like some of the people here.
  5. If it isn't already too late to resurrect this thread....
  6. Nothing conclusive at this point, since as I said I already have an overbite. I've noticed that one of my upper teeth continually nicks a spot on my lower lip when I'm eating or talking, and that seems to have started rather recently. But I haven't had the pacifier long enough to know whether it's causing any problems.
  7. I didn't see any references to this subject when I did a search on it, but it's entirely possible I missed something, so profuse apologies if this subject has indeed been covered.
  8. I covered a good deal of this in my introductory post in the Newbie Nursery, but I kind of glossed over it. Acceptance was for me a rather long and torturous process.
  9. If I may say a word or two regarding smileys....
  10. Lovely! Can I bring my dollies?
  11. Bottles, most assuredly. I'd love some, especially to drink from when I go to bed (though I think I'd put water in it rather than milk or juice, since I wouldn't want anything that goes bad easily from sitting out all night). I have one serious complication, however, in the form of the home-health aides who come in to help with my personal care (I have cerebral palsy and am in a wheelchair). The diapers are easy to explain away because my disability has caused me to be incontinent, and I've even told a few caregivers about the pacifiers, saying I needed them to help me sleep (which is at least partially true). They weren't bothered by my stuffed animals eitiher (adult women do collect those, after all).
  12. Northeast Wisconsin here. Maybe we all should get together....
