  1. Neurological reasons, bowel dysfunction with neurological issues.Lymphodema that causes vast quantities of urine to be produced especially when laying down that a neurologically compromised atrophied bladder can't handle.Surgical issues, damage from surgery.I also suffer from chronic pancreatitis and I have had my gall bladder removed.I also blame it partly on some truly horrendous urinary tract infection which led to testicular infections, prostate infections (VERY hard to cure). These infections really screwes things "Down there" right up,at the time I was neither intermittently catheterising (To keep urethral strictures dilated which were caused by botched surgery) nor was I using a foley indwelling catheter at the time. I am looking to get a surgically implanted catheter,a suprapubic catheter so as to bypass all the troublesome parts.
  2. As you currently have a bag, here's the opportunity for you to try it out and see how you get on with it,if you find it's not a problem then stay with the bag. Speaking from my own current experience.Nappies can be a real chore, especially if you want to go and stay somewhere. Not only do you have to take a supply of nappies with you but also all the associated paraphenallia such as creams, baby powder, disposal bags, wipes, toilet paper, etc. With a colostomy bag is you need to empty it you can take off the clip and empty it into a toilet, reapply the clip, clean up and go.If you have to change the bag and you have a flange fitted it's simply a case of removing the full one and fitting an empty. You'll need a disposal bag for the full one which you can then place in a bin.A replacement colostomy bag can be folded up pretty small and it will fit in your pocket or bag easily. Changing nappies and cleaning up in a public restroom can be really awkward, trying to do it quietly is nigh on impossible.
  3. I usually get away with two during the day (Your supposed to change every 4-6hr even if the diaper is dry/clean for hygiene purpose) and at night I usually only wear the one,but on occaison I have had to get up at night and change, usually if my bowel has decided to empty it's entire contents while I was asleep, instead of just the usual leakage of a small amount.
  4. The writer of this post it would seem is neither a sufferer nor a student of the subject.
  5. This sounds dangerously similar to what I experieced in the beginnings of "Urge incontinence".It started off with difficulty holding it to get to the loo,as time went on the "Urge" has become so great that it is almost impossible to hold it even for a few seconds, unless I'm near a toilet I have to use a urinal or the diaper I'm wearing to reduce the pressure so as to be able to get to a toilet.I have been prescribed two drugs, oxybutinin and Tolterodine, both of which helped when I first started taking them but after a few months their effect was reduced. If you are sufferring from urge incontinence it is worth seeing your doctor, similar symptoms can be caused by infection or by urethral strictures (Strictures can cause irritation, incomplete emptying etc which leads to an overactive bladder).Better to be safe than sorry,I have suffered some horrendous testicular infections in the past due to strictures,I now take antibiotics full time to help prevent further infections.I use catheters because of the strictures but I still get infections if I dont use them, ends up being a choice between the bad and the worst,I can't win.
  6. I was just about to write exactly the same as you have written, then I saw your post.I started out as a DL from my teens but had no idea that 20 years later I would have to come to depend on such products. It started with digestive problems, which became pancreatitis coupled with bowel dysfunction and permanent diarrhea, terrible bowel cramps, leaks, frequency etc.As the dosage of pain meds increased the diarrhea calmed down but I still suffer from terrible cramps, leaks etc.To top all of this off the dysfuction of my bowel started to affect my bladder, over time this led to an overactive bladder with extreme urgency, frequency, loss of control etc.During tests it was found that my testicles were no longer producing testosterone requiring me to have injections every three months of testosterone.I developed urethral strictures that I have had surgery performed on with little to no success which means I also now have to use a catheter to dilate the strictures regularly. At times I use a foley catheter, one to dialte the stricture and two,for some relief from my overactive bladder, strangely after 24hrs with a catheter if it's removed things are calm for a day but then comes back with a vengence. All through these problems I have suffered from infections of the testicles, one side at a time where they swell to the size of a grapefruit along with constant prostatitis. So from my point of view and experience in the past I can see why people like to wear diapers and wet,but believe me the last thing you want is to become incontinent.I really think that these people cannot truly comprehend what real incontinence is like. The constant changing, washing, using creams to prevent soreness, the fear of going out in public and either being spotted wearing a diaper or having to change when out.You plan every trip by how far the nearest toilet is,being in places where you haven't been before and not knowing where the nearest toilet is,needless to say every trip has to be planned with almost military precision, every where you go you must remeber to take all your supplies with you. I could go on for ever, but you get the idea.It might seem like fun and a good idea, but believe me when I say that it is far from either.Stick to wearing at home in the evenings and weekend, enjoy whatever "Activities" you get up to in them, but for gods sake don't do anything that could cause irreperable damage unless you want to be house bound and tied to the nearest toilet for the rest of your life.
  7. I see that in the USA Tena manufacture a diaper called the "Tena Ultra Stretch" this diaper has one wide tape either side and wide stretchy side panels. For me this would be ideal as I find with the Tena Maxi Large that the tapes stick well to the landing zone but over time with sitting and standing the tapes are pulled and after a couple of hours of sitting the tapes pull out of the rear wings of the diaper. With the one wide tape and stretchy sides that problem would be cured.I have emailed Tena and asked if they are going to introduce them here in the UK.Their reply was that they had no plans to introduce that diaper in Europe,Which is a shame.I see depends make a fitted brief that comes as a pull up and can be separated at the sides and turned into a fitted brief, these are available in the UK but are VERY hard to find and can only be found in one or two online outlets.
