  1. Yes... water to hydrate will greatly help with eliminating the hangover. Just go a notification from UPS: the still arrives Thursday afternoon! Woot! We're going to rack the "beer" this afternoon into the secondary so it clarifies a bit.
  2. This is true IF the 'shiner does what they are supposed to do and toss out the first 150ml (in a 5 gal run) of distillate. That stuff, the "heads", is where the methyl alcohol resides. And THAT is what gives you the headache. Same thing goes for the "tails". That has phenols in it that can make your head hurt. A lot of folks don't know to chuck the "heads" and end up with a distillate that will make them feel bad and, at worst, kill them.
  3. Groupon Deal-Of-The-Day: $50 Diapers for $25 This looks to be good for TODAY, 17 May, ONLY!
  4. Old car radiators give moonshine a sweet taste. Oh, wait... that's the lead in the solder that does that! (Did you know that the Romans used lead salts to sweeten their wine? Part of the reason Rome fell). Here's the still I've decided on: You want a hangover? I'll save the tail-end of the "heads" for you.
  5. Young man, you need a good figging!
  6. My step-daughter and I made up five gallons of mash on Saturday: 4 pounds crushed corn 4 pounds 6-row barley 6.6 pound malt extract Cooked it all for 2 hours then into the fermenter with: 1 big packet of "turbo yeast" 3 "beano" enzyme packets 1T yeast nutrient As of this morning it is bubbling away like crazy! I'm going to be ordering my still today. Of course, the alcohol will only be used to power my car! <grin> Home distilling IS illegal... But as an BATF agent said "we really don't care much about moonshiners these days...too busy catching folks making meth."
  7. It really helps with those long draw out computer support calls with the clueless customer.

    Caught Me

Mommy caught me touching myself and said her sissy girl had best stand in the corner until she thinks of what should happen to me. I'm scared. What is mommy going to do to me?
  9. Radio Shack has got a ton of power supplies with multiple adapter tips.
  10. That was one of the better surveys I've seen.
  11. Just got a new Sony VAIO computer for the family room. Finished configuring it (mostly), installed my usual software, and spent an obnoxious time trying to share the root drive on Win7. My son will have to help me on that one. HDMI output and full DivX support! Woot! (My reward to myself for closing a software development contract.)
  12. I think the "success" of the marshmallows may be very dependent on how wet you are inside. It's the dissolving of the marshmallows that do the trick. That's why I always follow the marshmallows with a 3-4 ounce mini-enema. Add a bit of glycerine for a little extra help.
  13. Good Ghu! They're still inside you??? Describe your method...
  14. Now that I have a nice, new, protective "Japanese style" diaper cover I decided to try some marshmallows. I haven't done that in a while. 8 cute, easter-color pink, glycerine coated, semi-frozen, cylinders went up inside me. A nice 2 ounces of hot water. And wait. On with the diaper and cover; on with my warm nightie, and under the quilt. When that mass (mess?) decides to come out, it comes out. And out. And out. The total loss of bowel and then bladder control gives me such a wonderful feeling of helplessness. I fell asleep for 45 minutes. Cleanup was, of course, obnoxious. It's the price you pay for a unique experience! If it's been a while for you, you should try it too!
  15. Deal's back...better unit this time: http://www.dailysteals.com/?ad=woot Only good TODAY, 13 April 2011. Ten Buck and shipping. ------------------------------------------------- edited: 14 April 2010: Sales over...that link is now for TODAY'S sale.
  16. Taste is very good...and getting better as the beer ages in the keg. Hopping is more aggressive than is typical for a porter-style beer, but not so in-your-face as a lot of American IPA's. I buy pre-roasted whole grain and extracts from Northern Brewers. Next up: re-creating my 1988 Pat's Porter recipe with some slight modifications to account for changed ingredients (some of the yeast I used is no longer available) and the judge's comments.
  17. My younger son asked to learn about beer making. Being that around 20 years ago my porter was declared Best Porter in the US by the American Homebrew Association, I figured...he needs to know how. Last night we kegged (for me) and bottled (for him) the first 5 gallon batch. Nummy! And here's a pint for you: (Click to embiggen!)
  18. Actually, it's both ways. Anglophile that I am, I prefer the UK spelling.
  19. Geez... I start a note string about getting myself off and where does it go! 555 timer. That actually popped through my head when I was thinking about this. I wonder where I've hidden my old discrete-component books from the 60's. My Dad was a EE with Bell Labs for nearly 50 years (he started before WWII). Trust me, he taught me from a very early age that Electricity Can Kill and that 200 mfd power supply capacitors that are fully charged look EXACTLY like 200 mfd capacitors that are discharged. That little unit I reference back in the base note cost around 10 bucks. You'd be hard pressed to beat that. It isn't a TENS unit, but it DOES provide a great deal of, ummm, stimulation.
  20. I've always wanted to try a "sex chat room" for some on-line mutual erotic fun. Any suggestions? Yeh, I know that the "girl" I'm chatting with is probably not, but what they hey... simultaneous fantasies work too!
  21. It's that 100 + 1 time that always bites you! And, yes, I do have knowledge of electrical circuits. I built my first Heathkit oscilloscope in 1964 when I was 14. You don't need to build a "switching power supply"...that's an over-design for the intended application. BTW... a wall socket is NOT "three phase". Are you sure you understand electronics? For those so inclined... Patent Document and This interesting article
  22. Whatever you do, you need a very, very, VERY, good line isolation transformer along with a medical-grade ground fault breaker. What we're talking about here isn't terribly complicated. 110V -> 6V isolation transformer Full-wave rectifier and filters to convert to DC. Current limiting circuit to ??? mA. An handful of oscillator circuits to make: sawtooth square sine Mixer to blend all of the above waves. You don't have to make the waveforms particularly "clean". This isn't like you're going to be using this as a clock circuit in a computer...you're just hooking it up to your body to give yourself a nice buzz. The basic design criteria is to put in a fail safe that absolutely limits the top voltage and current. The power supply is a Bad Idea. Any device that CAN be adjusted to produce a fatal voltage/current combination can be considered vulnerable to actually doing that. Just because you can monitor the thing on a meter doesn't mean that it can fail. By the time you say "Oh My...it's cranking out 1A instead of 1mA." you're already dead.
  23. You can get it at most pharmacies (spell check is your friend!). It's less expensive, though, at WalMart. $8 vs. $4. The ear-syringe can be gotten at the same place. The large metal syringe that I use is available on eBay. If you're short on cash, you can dilute the glycerine to around 75% or even 60%. The downside is night-quite-as-intense action. The upside is the liquid is less viscous and will flow into your intestine's nooks & crannies & poop. What you're hoping for is a high level of contact with the lining of your lower intestine. It's that contact that: Pulls water out of your intestine thinning out your poop. Causes contractions that you just can't control...which causes you to expel the now thin poop. To me, it's the loss of control that I love.
  24. Not all of society. Not everywhere. The GLBT community is alive and well in Minnesota. I see you're in Utah. That explains a lot.
  25. I'll be taking Amtrak this weekend. MSP -> CHI -> WAS -> NYC -> CHI -> MSP.
