  1. I use Tranquility exclusively, ATNs at night and Slimlines during the day, both with Comco plastic pants. I have noticed the same thing with the tapes on occasion. I bought some baby diaper pins from Babies R Us and use them with the disposables. I start the diaper pin about a half inch in front of the tapes and then poke through both tapes and close the diaper pin. The head of the diaper pin rests on the tapes and doesn't allow them to pull apart. I also put slits in an extra large baby diaper and use it as a stuffer. I've yet to leak with this combination and after I wet three, sometimes four times, I remove the baby diaper and I can still wet a couple more times before I change my diaper. Try this and see how it works for you.
  2. I agree, absorbency and fit are important. I wear Tranquility Slimelines during the day and ATNs at night, both with Comco plastic pants. As far as tapes slipping, I have found that if you use diaper pins and pin through the tapes you take that concern away. I'm DL, but I like the thought of using baby diaper pins to help secure my diaper. I poke the pin into the diaper about a 1/2 inch in front of the blue tapes and then fasten the pin head through the two tapes. To deal without having a waist band I just fold the front of the diaper down a couple of inches and it makes a good tight seal across the front of the diaper. I have never had a diaper leak from the front. Try this and see what you think.
  3. I wear Tranquility Slimline during the day and ATNs during the night. I really like these diapers and I rarely have leak concerns. My "beef" has been with the tapes. They have a tendency to slip off the blue tabs and allow the diaper to loosen up. I wondered if I could add diaper pins to help hold the tapes together. So I went to Babies R Us and bought two packets of diaper pins, 6 to a packet, and it has worked. I poke the pin through the diaper about an inch in front of the tape and then push the pin through both tapes, the blue and the white, so that the head of the diaper pin rests on the tapes. This way, if the tapes try to slide, the pin keeps them from moving. If you have concerns with the tapes on your diapers try this and see if it helps.
  4. My cholesterol is right where it should be. That is not a problem in my family. My doctor draws blood each time I see him so I know we are on top of it.
  5. Hey guys, If you check Atkins, you'll find that there are no carbs in alcohol. Beers are another story. Atkins has helped me lose 90 lbs and I drink Windsor almost daily.
  6. Updates are good, it helps to keep motivated. The weather here is allowing me to get out and walk every morning. My area has a lot of paved walking trails and even though we are in the middle of the city it is fairly wild. I've seen deer, foxes, an eagle and various other critters while out and about. My trek has gone past the three mile mark and I'm feeling good. My weight isn't moving much but my waistline is, and that's what's important. I'm almost into 36s again and it won't be long. At my age I'm not sure where I will end up but not carrying 5+ bowling balls with me everyday is such a good feeling. To everyone, remember we didn't gain it all in one day, so we can't lose it all that quickly either.
  7. I use Tranquility Slimline and Comco plastic pants. My diaper holds three good wettings and I don't worry about leaks. I've been using this combo for about three months now and it works well for me.
  8. I have no problems with leaks while sitting on furniture, but I always seem to leak when in my car. I always wear plastic pants with my diapers but when in the car I leak. Any thoughts?
  9. Thanks for all the encouragement. I've actually found that "grazing" throughout the day helps. I will eat very lightly about 5 times a day not including supper. I know what you guys are saying about the weekends. I recently attended a function where pasta was the main item on the menu, I just brought something else for me to eat. I just explain that it's not on my diet and everyone is OK with it. To everyone on this thread, keep it up. I know how much better I feel and how much more I'm looking forward to summer, going to the beach, and not having a bunch of PETA people try to push me back into the water!
  10. Hit the 90 lb loss mark yesterday. I never looked at myself as being fat, I was just too short for the weight charts.
  11. I was born in the early 50s so while growing up cloth diapers and plastic pants were what we all wore. Even the younger members of the family who were born in the early 60s wore cloth diapers and plastic pants. My interest in diapers first appeared when I was 5 or 6 but I didn't actually wear diapers until I was 13. Unlike you Angela, my return was for fun and not need. I was hooked from that first diaper I wore and wet. I never had a bedwetting concern but I always pictured myself as a bedwetter and that was why I needed to wear diapers at night. Now, in my mid 50s, I'm finding that I am becoming a bedwetter. Since last October, I have worn diapers to bed every night. I never know if I will wet in my sleep. There is no pattern, sometimes I will wet three or four nights in a row and then for a week I will not wet. Sometimes it is only for one night and then several that I do not. I wonder if it's just because I'm becoming more comfortable in diapers. I have moved my office to my home so I now spend most of my days in diapers and plastic pants. I don't wet my diapers every time I have the need but I will wet throughout the day. Then I will give myself a few hours diaper free before I diaper up for bed. Since I have switched to Tranquility diapers I have had no leaks and I have wet many times at night without knowing. I always wear plastic pants because I like the association of diapers and plastic pants. The younger AB/DLs have it so much easier than we did when we were growing up. The products available are amazing. Also the awareness is so much greater and the ability to speak with others is only an internet posting away. Angela, thank you for all the input you have shared with us all. I know I appreciate learning from you experiences.
  12. I have been doing Atkins since last May and I have lost over 80lbs. That's five bowling balls or two bags of water softener salt. My waist has dropped to 38" and I've gone from wearing large diapers to medium diapers. The mediums fit very nicely and I know I will never lose enough to fit into smalls. I'm happy with the progress I've made but I want to drop another 10 - 15 pounds. But as I said this will not change the size of the diapers I wear.
  13. I've been wearing diapers and plastic pants to bed every night since last October. I had been sleeping on the family room couch since my hernia surgery because it was more comfortable sleeping in a sitting position. I awoke one morning to find I had completely wet myself and the couch. This really concerned me as I had no recall that this had happened. That night I wore my ATNs and plastic pants to sleep and woke up in a very wet diaper. If I remember, I wet four nights in a row and then it stopped. But I have continued to wear my diapers at night and have wet in my sleep many nights without waking. What is strange is that there seems to be no pattern to when I wet. If I have a few drinks at night I may or may not wet. If I don't drink at all I may or may not wet. I wake up wet for several nights in a row and ten I don't. One thing is for certain, I'm afraid that if I don't wear diapers and plastic pants at night I will wet whatever I'm sleeping on. The other night I fell asleep before I had a chance to put on my diaper. When I woke I immediately put my hands to my underwear in fear that I had wet. Thankfully I had not, but I quickly diapered myself and went to bed. I've been wearing diapers and plastic pants for over 40 years and have never had nighttime concerns. Maybe I'm reaching "that" age where hobbies are becoming necessities.
  14. In Minnesota we call them Fish Houses and the larger lakes can have as many as 8,000 houses on them. Many communities have huge fishing contests during the winter and many fishermen have very elaborate fish houses. About the only thing you cannot have in a fish house is a basement!!
  15. Try to figure out where the tapes would be if you were wearing the diaper. Then, without the diaper on your body, position the tapes on the diaper. Once you have the diaper taped up slide it on like a pair of underwear. It may take a couple of tries to get it right but eventually you will figure out where to place the tapes.
  16. Minimum wage is not meant to be a career. While most of you think this is no big deal to large companies, you have to consider what it does to small companies. I have owned a small business and contrary to what many think, it is not a gold mine waiting to be dug into. I averaged 80 hours per week, often worked 7 days a week (many times open to close) and once worked more than 3 months without a full day off. Because of taxes, fica, unemployment and other obligations, in the entire time I owned, I took only 3 paychecks. Each time the government forced big businesses to do something the affect on me was 10 times worse. I have read that far more people work for people like me and this "stick it to the big guys" mentality that we have in this country is very counterproductive. Minimum wage jobs do not require many skills, that's why most are entry level positions into the work force. They are meant to be a starting point. Education is the key. Without one, you will be stuck at minimum wage.
  17. There is no doubt, for me, that alcohol enhances my need to pee. And after wearing diapers for over 40 years I have wet in my sleep without knowing it, diapered or not diapered. It got to the point, at the end of the year, that I wore diapers to bed continuously for several months. I became worried that I had reached a point where I would have to be diapered every night. Don't get me wrong, I love wearing diapers and plastic pants. But even after all this time, I still like deciding when I want to wear them. I wear diapers and plastics most of the time, I like the feel and convenience. I probably average 16 hours a day in diapers. But it is still my choice to put one on. Alcohol has made it easier for me to pee while wearing a diaper and the association is strong. I also listen to many of the diaper files from warpmymind and those suggestions also have an effect on me. Repetition creates habits and sometimes habits can be hard to adjust.
  18. I have had sleep apnea forever. Since May I have been on a diet and I have lost nearly 75 pounds. As a result, the pressure on my CPAP is too high. So I scheduled a sleep study for last night so they could determine what I should do. Because the pressure is set too high, I have not used my machine since August. Since I have stopped with CPAP I have had many bedwetting incidents. I had one about 2 months ago and I have been wearing diapers and plastic pants to bed since that time. I have read on the internet that bedwetting can be a result of apnea. It was also suggested to keep a journal to see if there is a patern. For me there does not seem to be any regular patern that would undoubtedly make me wet. I have wet as many as 5 nights in a row. I have wet when enjoying alcohol and when not. The only thing that is constant is that I'm sleeping so soundly I don't realize my diaper is wet until I get out of bed. Fearing that I might wet last night while at the study I wore a diaper and plastic pants while I was there. I was going to say something to the Tech but decided not to. I she noticed I was diapered she never said anything. Has anyone had a similar experience?
  19. A couple of times during the summer I woke up wet. About 5 weeks ago I started to wake up wet on a fairly regular basis. My wife found out I wet one night and she was not happy. Even though I love to wear diapers and plastic pants I still prefer to have the option of when I wear them. To make sure that I don't wet the furniture I have worn diapers to bed every night since that time. Several times I have woke up wet without knowing that I wet in my sleep. I have apnea and am going for a sleep study in a few weeks. I met with the sleep doctor yesterday and I told her of my recent incidences. She only asked about my prostate and said I should mention our discussion to the tech on the night of my study. I'm thinking that I will probably wear diapers to the study but I also think it is unlikely that I will wet that night. My fluid intake will be low so I don't see that as a factor. I have not wet the last 6 nights so I don't quite know what to think about what is happening.
