  1. Interesting discussion that popped up. I'm not a lawyer and I don't play one on TV so these are all just musings but I'd imagine irl that both a parent making a child get a job if under legal working age and the events in the story would be prohibited. That being said, I doubt a parent making a child simply wear a diaper would be considered abuse (for example, an older child who's a bedwetter being forced to wear a diaper at night is not unusual and it's not like the bedwetting child wants to wear one) but a parent having a child wear one specifically to humiliate them, particularly in public, would almost certainly be prohibited in most or all western countries. Same with working, making a child do chores around the house is absolutely ok (whether monthly/weekly chores or as some kind of punishment) but if they're under 16/15/14 (depending on country or state) making them take a part-time job would definitely be illegal for the parent and the employer. I'm not sure Italy is a good example. It's one of the few countries in Europe that still allows corporal punishment of children (unless the info I'm looking at is outdated). I'd bet if you were to talk to most parents from The Netherlands or Sweden or Finland (where corporal punishment is illegal), they'd absolutely say that a parent spanking their child was definitely abuse for much the same reason you stated (it violates their dignity, it's against their will, it undermines their self-esteem) yet Italy allows it (as does every English-speaking country. This story is just that though, a story. So many other stories on this site also contain scenarios that would be prohibited/impossible. It's fiction though.
  2. This, exactly right! It's a sign of how excellent of a writer the author is to have that kind of effect on commenters. But I always wonder how some of those commenters would react to watching thrillers or horror movies or shows like Game of Thrones/House of the Dragon
  3. I'm happy this story is back! Excellent new chapter! I think Zack might be in trouble soon! As always, looking forward to the next part! Congratulations! (About the promotion, not the extra work lol)
  4. I'm happy it's not dead. Take all the time you need, like I commented to the author of Breaking Ground, real life is more important. I'll definitely be looking forward to the next chapters of this story and Shifting Sands but I can be patient!
  5. Excellent chapter! I'm happy to see this story back, as always, looking forward to more!
  6. It's uncomfortable being that type of commenter, but I wanted to comment to say that I really hope this story isn't dead. This story, along with the first Shifting Sands and Breaking Grounds (the Shifting Sands fanfic) are so great, so I hope this story remains alive.
  7. Obviously real life is more important but I'm happy you posted an update post and it's great to read you're working on the final part of the next chapter. Take your time, I'll be looking forward to it. This story, and the original Shifting Sands and Going Green, are the three stories I'm most interested in, so obviously I eagerly await updates.
  8. Agreed that I didn't think it was unusual or unrealistic that there'd be a cabin for bedwetters. I never was a counselor at an overnight camp nor ever went to an overnight camp but it logically made sense to me that there would be a cabin for those who had that problem. Also with 8 girls out of 500, that's 1.6%, which is not an unusually high amount of bedwetters in that age group. I think the most commonly mentioned statistics state around 5% of kids still wet their bed at 10, and that number drops to around 1% at 15, and even though boys are twice as likely to bedwet and it's an all girl's camp, that 1.6% number in this story still seems logical with girls who were between 11-13. Even the one movie I can think of which references bedwetting at a sleepaway camp (Bless the Beasts and the Children) has a separate cabin for the kids who wet the bed (though in that movie, it's all the outcasts of the camp who end up in that cabin, not just bedwetters). Definitely not just in those stories. Like I mentioned above, the movie "Bless the Beasts and the Children" has a cabin like that.
  9. Another excellent story from you, as expected, definitely following this.
  10. Another good chapter. Like the other commenters said, I think Eddie isn't going to be happy about the treatment.
  11. Another excellent chapter. You're welcome. I like the idea, and I'm definitely looking forward to more.
  12. Good start, looking forward to the next chapter.
