A few questions from a newbie

Alio

Question

Posted

Hello, I am Alio and I just joined the site today. Today is also the day I bought my first diapers (tenas plus night). I was able to use them for the first time and it is really great to be able to rediscover all these childhood sensations... However, I started to ask myself a few questions:

1) I plan to wear diapers in the evening after work, at night and on weekends. Do I risk becoming incontinent if I use them so much?

2) I noticed that I tend to fill my diapers quite quickly (I like the feeling of warmth and swelling between my legs). To avoid leaks, what are your best solutions?

3) I am currently in Belgium, what are the best diapers that I can find in stores/supermarkets? (I would like to point out that I would like thick diapers that can handle several big pees from evening to morning).

Thank you for any answers you can give me, and once again I am happy to have discovered this community.

Welcome!  I've been diapered "24/7" for around 5.5 years and have been a DL for nearly all my life.  So, let me have a crack at answering some of these questions.

The overwhelming experience suggests that for the overwhelming majority, incontinence takes a VERY long time and requires a certain degree of complicity for it to occur.  If you just use diapers as you would use a toilet (ie: empty your bladder into them whenever it is full and you'd normally head for a bathroom), very little physiologically changes.  If however you don't try to hold your pee, things do drift over long periods of time.  For me, I did eventually become a bedwetter but it took several months for this to occur and at first it was rare.  There are plenty of people who still practice urinary continence at night whilst diapered and do not develop bedwetting.  I have some limited daytime continence still.

Find the right diaper to suit your body shape and use-case.  It takes some experimentation.  Consider plastic (or better, PUL waterproof) pants over that diaper and maybe a compression pant over that for visual stealth.  Remember that diapers perform better with "little but often" pee patterns.  They are fine with constant drizzle but become failure-prone with periodical flooding.  I get better diaper performance by using them whenever I become aware there is pee in my bladder although this DOES elevate the risk of dependency over long periods of time.

It's been many years since I was last in Belgium so I'm sure somebody local will chime in but in general, diapers available in retail stores are terrible.  You would be better to buy proper ABDL diapers online: they are night and day in terms of quality and performance.

Good luck!

Thank you for your valuable answers, I think I will invest in plastic panties and boosters for my diapers. If there are other tips to start my DL experience well, I am interested.

I concur with @oznl; I've been following in his footsteps for about 5.5 years. Wearing "recreationally" presents very little risk of becoming dependent; only after a long stretch of wearing diapers all the time, everywhere, did I realize that maybe I wasn't as good at holding it as I used to be, and I'm still not "incontinent" during the day by any stretch - I just get uncomfortable faster if I'm holding it, and I would be in the danger zone a lot sooner now than back before I started this strange undertaking.

I eventually became an unreliable and intermittent bedwetter, but that was after a couple of years of peeing while in bed, whenever the need arose. I developed the ability to fall asleep while leaking, and then eventually I stopped waking up, sometimes, before initiating an "event." I'm sure this is avoidable, if you don't let it happen.

As for use patterns, frequent small wettings get you a lot more mileage than infrequent deluges, for sure. I have had a diaper last me hours past when I thought it would have thrown in the towel, because I've been dribbling away in it, and the same diaper had, on a previous occasion, leaked on the first use, because I opened up a firehose in there.
