Went blueberry picking!

On Tuesday morning I went blueberry picking. It was a nice relaxing couple of hours. The temperature wasn't bad and there was a nice cloud cover. I would have picked more, but it started raining.

When I finished, I texted my neice to see if she was home and if her toddler daughter would like some blueberries. A silly question, she loves blueberries. We chatted for a while, she had been thinking of asking me to join her blueberry picking this week, but she wasn't feeling well. So it worked out well.

I dropped off most of the rest of the blueberries I picked for other great-neices and nephews. Before returning home. It was a great waste of time, money, and gas. But extremely enjoyable.

Good times! I can't wait for blue berries by us. Yummy!

Blueberries are such a great treat!

I've been trying my hand at growing them for the past few years, but a few plants grown in containers will be barely enough to put on my morning cereal for the few weeks a year when they produce. Sad that there aren't any "ever bearing" varieties available.

Berry picking season is when most people get lost, cause they look down picking berries and never pay attention to where they are.
Been on plenty of rescue missions looking for pickers, and read about many more.

This was at a farm. All the bushes planted in nice straight rows, with plenty of help all around.

I used to do that each year.  Always went wearing a diaper, too.  Big blueberry farm with 3 different varieties.  What I learned is to go to the first 2 or 3 rows at the far end of the field.  Most people start in the middle or part way down the rows and tend to ignore the first 2 or 3 rows, therefore I find more berries quicker.  I also found that people tend to pick the berries they can see and reach easily.  What I do is grab the branches and pull them out of the way and then inside the bushes closer to the trunk I find lots of huge overlooked berries.  The past few years it's gotten to where I can get a 5 pound box at the grocery store from the same blueberry farm for the same price or less than what it costs me to drive to the farm and pick them.  I love blueberry pie, blueberry muffins and blueberry pancakes, but I'm trying to lose weight so I'm debating if I should get a 5 pound box this year.  My knees, shoulders, back and ankles are not good enough for me to really go out and pick them myself anymore.

I used my Rollator, so I had a seat, only standing to get at the higher branches. The blueberries would have been cheaper, except for the long drive and most of the day spent. It was very relaxing.
