I could quite easily post poetry all day but I will try to
resist and keep to a small selection. So, here's another
favorite - used recently and affectively in the film
Interstellar, where it was

It made my morning to see this post... Always a pleasure to find some like-minded individuals that enjoy the art of poetry!

This is such a tough choice, but I have to give it to Thomas Hardy's "The Darkling Thrush".

The Forest

The chatter of the birds,

The secrets of the streams,

the whisper of the wind,

and the knowledge of trees

Written in the leaves upon the ground

soundless wisdom passed down.

Attention this star is reversing or is it accelerating ?

It was heading for Mars,which is really quite far.

But it was a loon, so it ended up on the moon.

It could head for Earth,for it had mirth.

Perhaps Saturn, for it was its turn.

But no, it decided the Sun,because it was quite fun

I come from a bilingual back ground especially during my teenage years. I once picked up a couple of german poems from the well known German Poet Johann Goethe or van Goethe. I've given the english translation.
