Bettypooh Posted February 8, 2015 Share Posted February 8, 2015 Old hat- this has been going on since the mid-80's at least, that's when I first heard of it Different plants will react differently to SAP's used this way so do some research before ripping diapers apart. The Bonsai may not like the congealed moisture- adding perlite for drainage and filler may work there Link to comment

BabyJune Posted February 8, 2015 Share Posted February 8, 2015 Farmers and nurseries (PLANT nurseries, that is) have used sodium polyacrylate pellets for years to store and release water for plants. It just so happens that sodium polyacrylate in smaller pellet form is also useful in disposable diapers. We used it for a science demonstration one year at summer camp. Link to comment
