those are generally designed to go through the abdomen into a surgically-formed stoma... they either won't fit through a urethra or won't stay there better than a foley (which is made for the job). 5cc silicone foleys ftw!

IIRC They're also pretty well known for enema catheters. Isn't that where the infamous bardex nozzles came from?

Don't forget that Malecots (and, I believe, Pezzers too) collapse when you use a stylet for installation. So it's not that bad . . .

but the end result is still a leaky tube hanging out... i would really like to experience a stent, feeling the leak happen, knowing it's coming out of me and not the end of some tube somewhere else... so i haven't really worried about trying other unusual kinds of catheter. people don't raise an eyebrow when i buy foleys (once every few months, from canada)
