Guest padded_husky87
Before I begin I just want to re confirm that I'm not trying to become continent I just wanna know if anyone can help me understand. But I was doing research on incontinence that was caused by server or a problem that requieres sergery. But I noticed tjat every article I come by talks about needing a colostomy bag. I was wondering is a colostomy back always necessary? Why colostomy vs disposable underwear( I say disposable underwear just to be landfill of those who don't like tp refur to It as so and not diaper. Don't want to make any enemies as I am new here) is a colostomy required and or can it be reversed. Is there any cons or pros for useing a colostomy bag vs disposable underwear? Or vice versa? I am sorry if this is un appropriate or Ir it sounds like I am asking for an essay it just seemed like a colostomy bag is always used and wasn't sure if someone who bad muscle damage or had to have a part I'd the colon removed requires the use of a colostomy bag or if that's am option? I appreciate any Info. Just would like to know Link to comment
KittenAB
Depends on how much of the large intestine is left after such surgeries, sometimes there just isn't enough left to make it all the way to the sphincter. Link to comment

My only experience with incontinence is with nerve damage to the spinal cord. Maybe someone else if the forum has some experience with incontinence dealing with the intestine. Not me. Link to comment

Well when you sure treated after the axedint did you have incontinent problems right pff the bat or was ot a gradual problem? And what did the doctor tell you and did he give you any treatment options other than wearing adult diapers? And what caused it exactly? I'm not trying to get your life story or anything I am just very curiouse in what happens, causes incontinents and and when a bag is required/ necessary or rather or not Its an only option. I just wondered what doctors tell there patients when there is a problem with incontinents specially fetal due to how messy It xan be Im sure. Link to comment
Guest padded_husky87
Not that there Isnt a problem with the wonders of a messy9wet diaper But I can see how not jave control at any time can be a bother, but ill tell one thing and that's I don't think I could handle a colostomy bag if I had to choose to be forced incontinance in a diaper or a bag and never be able two enjoy the falling of a messy diaper or even the fact I would have a tube coming out of my stomach would make me depressed. nappylover78
I guess most non-ABDL people would prefer the bag because it avoids the problem of smell and of sitting in it and the cleanup. Other people wouldn't usually know if you have one of those under your clothes but would definitely notice the smell of a dirty nappy! I think a lot of people with bowel problems are desperate to get one of these done to get them out of nappies. Link to comment
Guest padded_husky87
Someone tpld me that the problem with having a colostomy Is the risk of Infection and thwm having to spemd money on replacements If they burst so I guess its really a lose lose situation. Link to comment

I think a lot of people with bowel problems are desperate to get one of these done to get them out of nappies. Not everyone has a desire to have a hole cut into their side just have a bag of mostly digested crap hanging on them. There is also the irritation, infections and bags to empty so they don't burst. I would suspect doctors are pushing the colostomy bags more than people asking for them. Doctors make money off of colostomy surgery and maintenance of the colostomy site. They don't make any money from diapers. Link to comment
nappylover78
I suppose it's a matter of personal choice, neither is ideal for the vast majority of people. But I would imagine the factor that influences a lot of people is the smell. If you manage your condition with nappies then it's not like it is with bladder problems where odour control generally works - if you have a messy nappy then people will know, and unless you're a messing exhibitionist like that character who got banned from here then you would have to immediately stop what you were doing to change. I would imagine that as a result of this a lot of people with this condition will rarely even leave their house, and the alternative solution might effectively give them their life back in terms of being able to work, socialise etc. Link to comment
dmavn
Nullo or other chlorophyll tablets do get rid of the smell though. At least for me there is not any, but it does change everything to a pasty green. Link to comment
