i made the switch to cloth diapers... and i gotta say... i love it the mostest!

they hold LOADS! and they're so comfy! i went for a full night and woke up with a very heavy diaper and best of all... no leaks! not even a little bit!!! i followed the wash instructions on the cloth diapers thread before my first use and i love how soft and fluffy they are!

my diapers are standard terry squares (i didnt want to get anything too fancy for my first time). i got them with my plastic pants from cosyndry! i have to say that mags (nanny from cosy and dry) is fantastic. shes really friendly and the service and communication is better than just about anywhere else i can think of!

just thought id share this with everyone since im sat here wearing a very heavy sagging cloth diaper and a huge grin! if youve not tried cloth... you really really must!

froggie!!!

Welcome to the C.L.O.T.H.* Club  We're a secret society which nobody knows about whose goal is to get the entire world to wear cloth diapers B) Since all of our meager funds are invested in diaper pin manufacturing we decided that this would be a better idea than trying to manufacture the perfect disposable diaper tape :P One of us will soon meet you when you least expect it and show you the secret handshake which emulates the finger motions needed to fasten diaper pins :D Then the more of us you meet the easier it will be to get your diaper on without fuss or bother ;) After we're certain that you're not a secret agent from Bambino's we'll give you the chance to add your meager funds to our diaper pin investment scheme B) Don't expect a fast return on your investment though- the market has slipped significantly since the waning of the early Punk Rock movement (which by the way C.L.O.T.H. started as a way to make ourselves richer- and it almost worked!!!! :roflmao: )

Hips

Seriously there is no comparison to disposables. Each has it's own virtues but if you like cloth diapers there is no disposable that can compare. Try different materials and diaper covers and enjoy your newly-expanded horizons

its funny, i had to put on a disposable as my cloth one was in the wash (2 more on the way to make sure this doesn't happen again) and even when it was full, the disposable felt "empty". :(

abrera... im a special kind of frog and like tree frogs, i spend a lot of time out of the water! :D

I have use cloth diapers for most of my life. While traveling I use disposables.

Normally, I don't need diapes durnig the day unless I am away from restroom facilities.

On my last trip to DC my wife insisted that I use th e cloth diapers at night. It was a wise decision. All of the hotels had laundry facilities.

For me this is the problem with Cloth, the initial outlay for enough nappies can be really expensive, plus plastic pants and pins etc :(. I know they'll pay for themselves eventually its that one time cost is harsh. Oh and Laundry, I hate doing laundry at the best of times :S.

I have one cloth nappy, a Velcro fitted one from drylife, but that's more for when I run out of disposables and want the feeling :X.

froggirl is still recovering from tadpoles arrival, so i gots to do the laundry! im actually specialist trained in kitchen appliances though so its not too bad (plus everything is getting washed on the correct cycle for once, which means everything is loverly and soft!). the best bit is getting a huge big fluffy terry cloth diaper out of the tumble dryer whilst its still soft and full of air! cant wait to put it on again.

ive got 1 48x48inch terry nappy, with two more hopefully arriving monday as well as 3 pairs of plastic pants. im also going to order a big 60x60inch terry cloth for nighttime use. all in all the total is about £90 which is about 3 months worth of diposables, so they will have paid for themselves by january!

Funny but the one-time cost is why I don't use Molicares, Abenas, or Bambinos. A case of those will pay for several cloth diapers and their accouterments ;) and after the second or third go-around I cease spending while disposable users have to spend again :( It's all in what you like but if you shop well or make your own like I have, cloth diapers are cheaper any way you look at it :D

I agree wholeheartedly with the remarks above about cloth nappies and especially the remarks about the efficiency of Cosyndry, who are the epitome of what an internet shop should be. The quality of their wares, the speed of their service, and the reasonable prices place them head and shoulders above the other suppliers. (And No, I don't have an interest in the business!)

That said, the very best plastic pants are here: http://www.shop4pvc.co.uk/pull-on-pants/euroflex-translucent-ultra-soft-polyurethane-pant/prod_66.html

These are comfortable, almost completely leakproof, and last for ever. And shop4pvc are very efficient, too.

Not only is the cost of cloth nappies much less overall, but the comfort and capacity is much greater, and provided they are fitted well, they are much less prone to leak - and they will take a side-wetting as well.

I always worry a bit about putting disposables in the refuse bin, as the amount might build up, and there is always the fear that the wheelie bin might be knocked over when placed beside the road for emptying.

If you sleep on your side, be wary of putting too much between your legs; you will regret it in the morning. Better to use a booster at the back.

Incidentally, what is the best setting for washing terry nappies, and the best washing powder to use?

I normally dry them in the launderette - nobody has ever noticed yet!

I use the 60degrees "stains" setting with fairy non-bio. The temp is enough to kill off the bugs, the "stains" cycle gives it an extra long wash, thereby getting them back to lovely white and the non-bio is a must as the high temperature will denature the enzymes that make bio powders effective.

You couldn't have said it better about cosyndry... if all online traders were that good, the high street would've been killed of years ago!
