PeeHD
Well, thought I'd say hi to all of you - I'm new insofar that I recently joined DD, but I've been part of the internet community for a decade now. My reason for joining is that I find this place to actually be the friendliest online community I've seen for years, and I'm very happy to be part of it now! I just recently moved to the US, so today I got my first package of Abena X-plus ever - bliss! In R/L I'm working like crazy, have a thousand projects, a wonderful wife (not into this though) and more friends than I can deal with, so I'm not really looking for new people to meet, even though I always enjoy a friendly conversation online! So, hi to ya'll, and keep working for a friendly community! /PeeHD Link to comment
DollyDiaper
Hi PeeHD (fab name doc, I love silly puns ) I agree, I find it a friendly community (over-friendly sometimes, but enough about unsolicited PM's) so I hope you enjoy being here too! Dolly Link to comment

Vic
It is a friendly community here, sometimes we do have a few cross words (crosswords? I do them in the standard, but in pencil, not pen) but for the most part everyone here is welcome. So welcome to you, and I hope you enjoy the posts that you see here. A question though, what country did you move from, and was there a AB/DL community there? If so was it as informative as you've found this one? Vic Link to comment

PeeHD
Hehe.. don't worry 'bout it Dolly - it was fun reading it! And that was hilarious Drynot.. "go back in my hole now... " hehehe.. And thank you everyone for the welcoming words! To answer your question Vic, I'm from Scandinavia and there is a pretty fine community there as well - not as active, not quite as friendly (but nice anyway), not as big, but driven with caring love by the moderator David. Check it out: www.diaper.nu . It's in Swedish though, and you need to sign in as a member (free, but you would probably need to understand Swedish well enough to succeed), but there is a section in english about the ABDL pride flag project. Take care all! /doc Link to comment
Vic
Thanks Doc, I haven't been to Scandavania, the closest I've been was Germany and Amsterdam, but all the people I met were very friendly. I hope you enjoy your new home, and you find our people as friendly as I found those in Germany and Amsterdam. I also went to England, but I didn't get out of London, and have since been told that to really get to know the Brits one must stay OUT of London, lol. Thank you again for telling me where you came from. Vic Link to comment
DollyDiaper
Thanks from me too doc, good of you to let us indulge in our whimsical wordplay - having said that, you started it! I'm curious to know why you waited until you moved to the US to purchase your first pack of the amazing Abenas as they're made in Scandinavia (Denmark). Were they not widely available there? BTW I did a TEFOL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) course a few years ago and part of the training required us to take lessons in another language. Swedish was the chosen language - I believe the thinking behind it was that few, if any of the class would be familiar with it (as it happens, none of us were) and we would gain some insight and empathy with the students we were going to teach. We were taught Swedish by the total immersion method and one enduring memory I have is of Olga, our tutor, holding up an egg and saying "frucost!" (sp?). I mistakenly thought the word meant "breakfast" for the illogical reason that frucost sounded more like breakfast than egg. It wasn't until I passed the final exam that I discovered it really did mean egg.! Dolly Link to comment

PeeHD
Thanks Vic - so far I really enjoy my time here in the US! I've been here many times before, but it's always a different thing to move entirely. As for the diapers, Dolly, they are sort of available in Sweden, but only recently, and you can only get them online (pharmacies only sell adult diapers on prescription, with the general notion that if you need diapers, you probably have a symptome that should be checked by a physician first, and there are no adult diapers available in regular stores). The reason for not having purchased any Abenas until I moved to the US, is more related to the fact that the DL thing really isn't that important to me. I'm ususally pretty content with reading the forums (and once I find a friendly place, take part in the discussions), and given the vivid social and professional life I had back in Sweden, the right occasion to buy them sort of never came up. Every now and then it is blissfull to use diapers (and the Abena X-plus really are great!), but only if I don't do it too often - I tend to lose interest after having them available for a while, and what's the fun in that? Well.. regarding the Swedish word "frukost", it actually does mean breakfast, so your tutor must have gotten something wrong there.. Olga is a highly unusual name in Sweden btw - I think it is the slavic version of the scandinavian Helga (basically means "The Holy"). You sure she was Swedish? Egg would be "ägg" (pronounced the same way). /doc Link to comment
DollyDiaper
Oh dear, of course you are right about the Swedish but I did say it was a long time ago. My memory has played tricks with me again but I do remember being very confused by the visual aid at the time. Olga wasn't Swedish (I can't remember now what nationality she was) but she married a Swedish man and had lived there for many years. Thanks for your explanation, that's interesting about the diapers situation in Scandinavia and your personal preferences. Sorry if you thought I was being nosey. Dolly Link to comment

Dolly Oh, I'm sorry - I really didn't think of it as nosey! I was intrigued by you having some experience with swedish, so I got a little carried away. I'm sorry if I made you think you were nosey. Please feel free to ask any questions you like - if I find it to be too personal for an open forum, I'll let the person know. Yes, the situation in sweden really isn't ABDL friendly, even though it is getting better with online shopping and all.. but it does make you an expert in making your own diapers (the scandinavian ABDL community site even has instructions on how to make your own diaper)! Take care /doc Link to comment
DollyDiaper
Phew doc! That's cleared that up then It seems odd to hear the Swedish attitude to AB/DL considering how refreshingly liberal and progressive (by comparison) they seem to be in many other aspects of life. Dolly Link to comment
PeeHD
Phew! Anyway, I think the situation really is due to a lack of knowledge about the ABDL community - the need for diapers is really considered a medical issue (incontinence is openly discussed in the swedish newspapers), and as such, the general conception would be that people should try to get professional help rather than let it go untreated by buying their own diapers. Which, in a sense, I could consent with, had I not been a DL myself! Otherwise, I guess I do find sweden to be a good society.. we have our problems of course, but the political discussion is mostly about fine-tuning the socialism (all political parties in sweden really are socialists, be they left- or right-wing), and I think we are close to having a good balance between productivity and welfare. I'm happy that the feminist party seems to have a good chance of entering the parliament, so the next thing would be to start an ABDL party ! /doc Link to comment
abdljoey
"Yes, the situation in sweden really isn't ABDL friendly, even though it is getting better with online shopping and all.." ==== Seems to me I remember an ABDL group in Sweden that had advertised a weeklong diaper camp out. They were looking for more signups. That was maybe a year ago. Hugs, Joey Link to comment
PeeHD
Hi Joey! Well, it's not really unfriendly, I was rather thinking about the fact that adult diapers are hard to get to.. Otherwise, there are groups in sweden arranging meetings, and the online community is nice (but small), so in that resepect it's all fine! take care /doc Link to comment

dldad
Hello. Just catching up somewhat on my checkins, as the family isn't up yet. Welcome to the format. Have fun in whatever manner you choose to partake. With so much turmoil and stress in our everyday lives, my philosophy is to have as much fun as one can. Our stay on this existence is fleeting. Welcome aboard. Link to comment
