  1. A very important person in my life has recently passed away. He was a very loving and devoted teacher to all of his children and grandchildren. He was a brilliant man, studying and teaching latin to those who wished to know more about the routes of our languages. He was a faithful husband. He was an actor. He volunteered at a rescue mission to help those who were struggling to get a diploma or GED so as to aid them in paving a successful route in life. He did this until his retirement at the age of 90. He firmly believed in a life of service, providing for others when they were down and out. He was the father of four sons and four daughters, though his teachings and fatherly presence were both felt throughout a wide range of communities. He was a grandfather of fifteen including myself, and he will be missed dearly. Hundreds attended his viewing. He was tough when he needed to be, but urged others to always remember that life is short, and to find happiness in those few fleeting moments life presents us with where whimsy and wonderment can bring us all a smile or a laugh. His brother and father were both firefighters, a profession that would see them to an untimely demise. My grandfather, being a man of quick witted humor was once quoted as saying to his son, “Us (last name) boys need to stay away from fires. We’re too flammable.” He always had a way of bringing light to a room of any emotional climate, as well as a smile to any face when need be. I was able to visit him shortly before his passing, but was unable to read him something that I decided to write for him shortly after getting the call.. The best I can do now is share with the world the ideals that spilled onto the page that day, all of which can be attributed to my grandfather’s teachings. I don’t necessarily believe in God, but I couldn’t keep these words from pouring out onto the parchment:

This life is still a mystery yet gifted to us plain to see where darkness still yet to be lifted light unveiled so we can seize another opportunity to learn amongst our family members in our darkest hours God will rise again up from the embers.

Remembrance is infinite from soul to soul you’ve given it to each and every one of us and we will praise from dawn til dusk the life you led and love you’ve shown to make sure all of us have grown to make something amongst each other light behold the waking wonder.

Never doubt a single moment please believe this modest omen peace and love as God has chosen will prevail through doors unopened as this final ship sets sail we all embark and will not fail to bring about this simple change and carry on the words you’ve woven.

I hope everyone who has made it this far goes out and spends a little time letting their loved ones know that they are loved, always. Life is indeed too short and we never know when those who are most important to us will pass. And when they do, we must carry on.

I’ll always miss you Papa. Rest in peace.

I appreciate that. Nobody avoids it though, we all go at some point. The best we can do is be with our loved ones and cherish each moment we get while they’re with us, as well as carrying on the light they’ve brought to our lives after they pass.
