    thanx for the advise

find a diaper with the standing leak guards and i have found that a night time or heavy capacity has a little more room in the crotch to hold stool in,but not always.make sure your diaper doesnt get droopy as that will cause leaks and wear a pair of plastic pants over it.

If you are having odor issues try one of the odor control products, they do work.I use devrom and have had great results with it

  2. I have heard of this type of thing and I'm hoping to get more info from someome who has had the procedure.

    Have you had it done?

I had both sphincters surgically removed as well as having a turp to open up the passage for easier drainage.I wanted to try botox but the only place that would do it is in montreal and i live in alberta

  3. You need to consider that yes, while you are standing you will dribble all the time.when you lay on your back you will drain. When you lay on your side or sit for long periods your bladder will fill and then drain all at once when you stand or lay on your back.At least with botox if you don't like the results it will wear off.

  4. Start out with a fresh diaper(abri form large xplus)before bed, this will usually last till morning unless I drank too much after supper or altered my med timing then I will have a bm thru the night.Change into a new diaper in the morning and then another at lunch. The change at lunch will last till supper time unless I get the runs.Change into one more at supper time and then a new one before bed.I will usually have one messy one thru the day but sometimes as many as three and each one means a change, hate the burning and bleeding from not changing soon enough. So usually I use 6 in 24 hours as a minimum.I use the xplus day and night. The tape issue with them sometimes means changing into a new one before it's ready as it keeps falling off.If i'm traveling I always count on ten a day for the trip time and that way I don't run short. When we go away in the summer I take 10 cases with me and fill all the storage spaces in our trailer with my diapers.I take 4 with me for work every day and just keep them in a sports bag in the truck for day time changes

  5. Hi,

Is someone who is incontinent more ashamed than a dl????

More than one person in more than one thread has indicated that there is more shame in needing to wear an absorbent product than in wanting to. One person who is dl said they are open about it because it is voluntary. Meanwhile, someone who _is_ incontinent seemed to indicate that they are more ashamed, more secretive about their need to wear an absorbent product than if it were voluntary.

    I don't get it.

I've felt shame in doing it voluntarily, while if there were a medical reason there's no shame at all. (I also believe that actually being incont would have lots more horrible consequences, but still less shame about wearing).

I was surprised. Am I misreading all this?

I am incontinent and would not class what i fell as shame,it's more uncomfortableness,it is concern about leaking or odors or not being able to get to change quick enough. It's more awareness of time out without supplies or how much to take along. These are concerns because myself and others that are incontinent have no choice in the matter and cant just do without if the situation doesnt allow diaper usage or changing.I am not secrative and everyone around me knows I wear and I talk openly about it,I have nothing to hide or be ashamed about. We don't flaunt them like some dl/ab like to because it is more need than sexual or thrill for us.If you read more posts you should find that the members here that are incontinent don't really have any problem with it ,there have been comments from people newly incontinent about being uncomfortable etc but in time these feelings will pass. You have to consider that incontinent people for the most part go through lots of testing and doctor visits and supply searches and buying and any issues of uncomfortableness go away very fast. ;)

  6. I'm in Calgary but used to live just south of Leduc. My first wife was fine with the diaper's and my new wife has no problem with them.I started out as a D/L but became incontinent about 21 yrs ago. Both of my wives has worn with me as well and played in diapers. :D

  7. My prostrate went the other way,due to past surgery it actually got smaller,4 yrs ago it was 45 cc and this yr it was 22cc,and ,then the next news it was cancer,so out with it.Now the fun starts because I had no valves left from previous surgery I now just have the urethra connected straight to the bladder so the urine just runs thru from the kidneys to the diaper.I have a constant drip and if I changed every time I had a little leak I would be broke, after sitting or laying on my side I then have a build up and gushes but use really good diapers to catch it,I change every 4 hrs or so unless I'm going out and then always leave with a fresh diaper. As long as you keep you fluid level up your urine wont be as concentrated and strong smelling and no one should notice. It will also help with rashes as diluted urine wont cause rash as fast.Good luck and make sure you are getting PSA tests done yearly after age 50 and by yearly from 40 to 50.

  8. I use the gabby's swim diaper when ever I go swimming. They let urine leak thru but do a really good job of stopping bowel leak's from getting out. They will hold well for a short time if you have firm stool but nothing works very good for the runs except a good tight pair of plastic pants.good luck

  9. Refers to length. Males need longer ones and females shorter ones. I use a 14 Fr.

    Mo

the fr sizing refers to the diameter only,a 2 or 4 or small size like that is pediatric or pressure testing size,a 12 is about an eight of an inch,a 24 to 28 is post surgery size ,about a quarter inch diameter.

6 to 10 inch is usually female lenght ,16 inch is standard for males.

remember playing with catherers can be dangerous or deadly, you can give yourself a hell of an infection.

as some people have said if you are using one due to a medical condition you really have no choice or few choices and diapers are still needed in a lot of cases.i self cathed for nine yrs 3 times a day until infections got the better of me,but at that time i had few other choices

  10. I started with large gushes that I could not feel building up.It would flood out and overflow most diapers,as time and surgery progressed I ended up with constant draining but I don't drain when sitting so when I stand up I still get gushes but not as large.I also cant feel or stop it at all, when i am standing or laying on my back i just trickle all the time.I have no valves or prostrate (cancer) and the urethra is just connected straight to the bottom of the bladder now.

  11. I buy the costco wipes by the case, they are cheap and work well for freshening up.For really big messes they are too small so I have adult size one's for those times, have some new ones with aloe in them that are nice, they are from medline and called aloe touch

  12. Ok, try this one with your diapers -- and I'm not certain what brands this works with, besides Attends. Take a look at the padding inside your diaper under a black light. It gives some input as to how the diaper is designed -- some areas, based on material content, glow slightly different shades under a black light. Some yellows and some greens.

If anyone spills urine on a blacklight because they try this with a soggy diapers, they deserve the shock they get.

Attends have a rectangular spot within the padding that is obviously composed of a different material than that surrounding it, as it glows a green color, and the area around it much dimmer and more yellow. I don't know enough about all the chemicals that make up the liner to know which ones are reactive to that portion of the spectrum.

What do other diapers look like. Actually, collecting some pictures of different ones under black light might be kinda interesting to do, to see differences.

Morv me thinks you have too much free time but what the heck, you come up with the wierdest things.now you need to make a black light diaper detector for malls and other places so we can see who's wearing.Keep up the good work

  13. As was said if you are on antibiotics then you may have a fungus infection and putting creams or lotions on it is the worse thing for it.you need an anti fungal cream.Smell the discharge from it and if it is bittter sweet smelling then that may be it.See a doctor as these can spread to any other moist area you touch.Been there done that don't want it again.

  14. I would not let them get away with it,money is money .I was at a store in ontario picking up diapers and they added sale tax to them, they are not taxable in ontario and I stood there and made them fix it even with the line up behind me.Hey 15% tax is still my money and it adds up.

  15. I've been wearing diapers for 21 yrs now and have never had any comments about noise,I stopped wearing my plastic pants over them a couple yrs ago at my wifes request and you know still no one notices the noise except myself and maybe someone walking right against you.I have worked in lots of different fields and enviroments and it's never been an issue. As for smell i did have a comment once and that was just after a major dump while getting out of the car.I had to go and use a store washroom and someone commented I smelt like peanut butter (go figure).I have had leaks at the back of the legs and also one all the way down one leg when mister pokey found the side of the diaper.I use devrom tablets all the time now for odor and they get rid of 98% of the bowel smell, even my wife doesn't notice some times.I've reached for stuff on store shelves and ended up with the top of my diaper sticking out or walked into a washroom in a store or mall carrying a diaper to change and no one has ever said a word or made any sort of comment or remark.Just think of this when you go out,the person next to you has a toy in their butt or front or they are wearing a chastity belt or rubber pants or leather, the boss has on his best silk panties and the cop that just stopped you has on a pair of crotchless panty hose(male or female).

Aren't those just awesome things to picture.be happy and comfortable in who you are and no one will even care about something as simple as your choice in underwear, whatever it is.

  16. I will say that the sissy part of ab or the baby talk part for me is hard to understand, but for those people it is a part of them.People may not like or understand the things I enjoy. We all need to be non judgmental and live with the fact we are all different and unique individuals.Have a happy life or baby hood or regresion and enjoy what matters, we can't start picking apart our own community because of differences, that is why we are here-because we are different.

  17. Better or proper fit is something we can all wish for, tapes that hold, leg gathers, proper coverage etc.As for the color issue i don't think it matters a bit unless you want attention,a bright color diaper under or sticking out of light color pant's. most incontinent people don't deliberatly try to attract attention.I wore my classy comfort diapers to a doctors appointment once and ended up having a complete medical while i was there, the doctor was professional about them and didn't comment other than to say she needed her sun glasses for the bright colors.

  18. I use devrom and they both cause constipation more than anything, maybe your body just doesn't like them.try taking some extra fibre with them and see if that helps.the devrom is good for about 98% of the odors

  19. my issue is if she woke up catheterized and with a colostomy then there is no need for diapers.yes a bowel routine would help after the colostomy but i for one am still unpredictable with the bowel issue even with a routine.one change in timing or fluid balance and its start over time.I just spent a week in hospital and they changed my pill timing in the evening and it will take 2 weeks to get it back on track.she complains about the poor performance of the products she buys but is using thing designed for children with accidents not incontinence.
