  1. When people misunderstand Freedom of Speech. Yes, you have the freedom to speak as you please, but it doesn't absolve you from the consequences of what you say. Some people really gotta learn that, Huh?

You're right, freedom of speech does not give you freedom from the consequences of that speech. For example, if you were to say something racist in public, you'd have a high likelihood of having the shit beaten out of you, or if you were in a place of business you would probably be asked to leave. You would not be arrested for this speech and the government would not stop you from saying it or arrest you for saying it.

Freedom of Speech does not protect you from a platform's Terms of Service, It does not stop your reputation from going down the drain. It does not help you keep your job.

Freedom of Speech also depends on where you live and what classifies under "Free Speech". In the U.S. you can basically say whatever you want to whomever you want (provided it's not a credible threat), without fear of being arrested/charged for your speech. Basically, your right to speech overrides anyone else's right to feel comfortable with what you say.

      Quote

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances

However, in many other places there are far more restrictions on speech, some reasonable, some not so reasonable.
