No problem, I really enjoyed your story and I thought it deserved more attention.

I have no idea if my post will actually give it more attention, but I figure it couldn't hurt. :)

  4. Hope everyone had a fantastic thanksgiving! Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. My wife and I spent the day together cooking Turkey, Candied Yams (My mother's recipe) We actually made 2, one was for my sister because my mom didn't do thanksgiving this year, but she loves the candied yams! We also made, gravy, cranberry sauce and mashed potatoes which were too gluggy so we turned it into a cheese gratin, which turned out good too!

I was in charge of the Turkey! My wife liked it so I'm going to call that a pass!

With the other stuff I mostly just helped out where I was needed, we have a small kitchen so it can be a pain having 2 people doing stuff at the same time.

Anyway great thanksgiving for us, we spent most the day together and just had a really good time. I'm so thankful for the life I have. I hope everyone had just as wonderful of a thanksgiving as I did!

  5. Hope everyone is doing awesome today. Love you all :3

  6. If everyone was "Normal" life would be REALLY boring.

    I'm happy I'm not "Normal".

    1. ~Brian~

      ~Brian~

      @kasarberang

If everyone had a normal life, and nothing ever changed, there would be no challenges to face, and no way to enrich yourself or learn new things.  Being disabled, and having CP, I was raised by a GREAT family, who allowed me to be myself and taught me many things.  When I was born, there was no "manual" on how to take care of disabled children, and my Mom and Dad did that twice, once with me, and once with my brother.

Being disabled was a "normal" part of my life, because it was all I ever knew:  My parents taught me well, inspired my choice of vocation, supported me in my decisions (some good, some bad), and taught me the differences between right, and wrong, and helped me through my life.  My brother Mike may say I was "sheltered" from things around me, and maybe I was, but I think I turned out pretty well for a guy that they thought would not be able to do many things -and each of these, I proved I could do.

"Normal" is a state or a condition, and should not be confused with what we consider "Normal" because for each of us, Normal means different things.  In 2020, "Normal" means: Any state or condition that was in place PRIOR to the pandemic, and all the things we were able to do before that occurred.  Now, in 2020, Normal is a state where we are all doing what some officials are asking us to do, and where we are trying to remain healthy and not get sick.

You and I have our challenges, our minds, our families, and our memories.  We may have to continue to make sacrifices, and adopt a "New Normal" as we proceed, but we we will NEVER FORGET the past, and what makes us special.

If I had to make a choice, I am glad I am the way I am - I would not change ONE THING that happened in my life, although I do sometimes wish that I could have made different choices sometimes, but I would still be who I am, and I would not change that:  I have good supports, a great love of my family, and I am gonna be an UNCLE again soon to a little Baby Girl, so I would not change anything.

I am also happy I am not "normal" because in this context, I normal, but that makes me, the person I am, and that is special:  God made me who I am, and I would not change that.

Keep thinking Positive - We WILL get through this!

      Brian

And you officially have a wife. Great job buddy!?? Not many youngsters do at that age. Usually they're off in college getting drunk and partying or having sex. Or just being stupid in general. Congratulations buddy! Like I said before, I hope you're having a happy birthday and enjoying it! Glad to see you got your life figured out at such a young age.?☺️??❤️?

@BabySpiderBoyYep! I have been married for almost 4 years! (it'll be 4 years in March). It was always one of my life goals to be married and independent, never really thought it'd happen so early, either. Things happened better than I could have ever hoped, I'm so lucky to live the life I do. Wouldn't trade it for the world. :D

That's great to hear, considering you have to put up with IVs on a daily basis and not having the ability to eat and just drink soups all day. You really handle that like a pro. And I'm so glad you're so happy in your life. *BIG HUGS!* Buddy!???????❤️

  8. My birthday is this month and my wife is trying to do a lot of things to make it a very memorable birthday.

We ordered the Buffalo Wild Wings that they use in the super hot challenge, I think it's called “flaming hot”, but I'm not certain, and she ate them! Which is something I wanted to watch her do for years now (because I like watching people eat/cook).

We tried it once at the restaurant, but it's the sort of thing that's easier to do when at home.

Anyway, that was fun! She also let me buy some quail from Dartagnan, we got 4 regular size quail and 2 “European Jumbo Quail”. I'm going to cook them for her, I have a bunch of ideas! She also has a few ideas too, so we'll get 1 jumbo quail each and 2 regular quail. We also got quail eggs! Which she used to make a little cake, more for her than for me because I don't eat. :P I still like that she used the quail eggs to make it and I look forward to watching her eat it.

We're also going to order soup on the actual day, I love soup! We'll be buying all the soup one of our local Asian restaurants has, they have wonderful soups!

I've been having a very good birthday-month so far, I'm so lucky!

      Happy birthday month :)

I hope your wife survived the flaming hot challenge :D

Personally, when it comes to rood I don't think you're missing all that much (though I think some people would kill me for that comment!) For some people it's a passion but for me, I'm not really all that bothered. I'm certainly not going to cook for hours to make something I'll eat in minutes :P

And yes @kasarberang spicy is most definitely a flavor!?? I love spicy food! As for condiments, I don't really use them. Not that I don't like them. It's just that most of the time I don't see any need for them. I only use them if the food tastes bad, which doesn't happen a lot, if any. When I was in hospitals I hated being hooked up to I.Vs. I couldn't imagine having to do that everyday. Like I said, you have tremendous strength! And I think you dislike most flavors because of your gag reflex, which isn't your fault. Hell, if I was in your position, I would probably feel the same way.??? But I'm glad you at least get a lot of enjoyment out of watching people eat. Ketchup to me is only good on cheeseburgers and meatloaf. Other than that I can't really think of anything else it would be good on, besides fries. But then again it depends on the type of fries. Like curly fries for example. To me, those don't need ketchup.

  9. My wife just bought me this a week ago: https://amazon.com/gp/product/B07FMBF2QB

It hasn't got here yet but I'm kinda excited for it.

Here's a picture for those who don't want to go to the link.

  10. So my package did manage to get it's way through Customs Clearance, I have no idea how though, I wasn't contacted back by the company I bought it from and the likelihood of them silently fixing it seems slim to none. I guess FedEx could have just released the package spontaneously but that too seems unlikely.

Oh well either way, everything seems fine now, saves me a day of headache trying to get in contact with FedEx to clear it up.

  11. There are 2 types of cough medicine.

The kind that makes it so you don't have a need to cough and the kind that makes you still have the strong need to cough, but makes it impossible to do so no matter how hard you try.

My question is why does the second one exist?

    1. ~Brian~

      ~Brian~

      @kasarberang

One type of cough med is a suppressant, which means that it will calm your coughing if it is causing you issues, like being unable to sleep, or do normal activities.

The other, is an expectorant, which means that it will make it easier for you to cough up stuff in your lungs.  This is helpful so if there is anything in your lungs (Mucus, etc) you can cough it up, so it (hopefully) won't cause pneumonia or other issues.

      Have a Great Day!

      Brian

  12. Bought something online and they're withholding it because the shipper didn't provide enough details, hopefully the company I bought it from will resolve it. It's near impossible to get a hold of FedEx and sort it out myself it seems.

First time I had this issue when importing from Japan. I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later, at least it's not customs asking for money to clear the package.

    1. ~Brian~

      ~Brian~

      @kasarberang

Good Luck with that Bud - Never dealt with many shipments from overseas, but when I did, they seemed to take a hell of a lot LONGER to get here, and even when they are here, seems to take AGES to get something, especially from china......

      Brian

    2. kasarberang

      kasarberang

@~Brian~It's here, due to the pandemic all the sites are offering a far more limited selection of shipping options, so it's here, like in my county. They're just withholding it because the company didn't provide a good enough description, hoping it will be resolved by the company, or I can get a hold of FedEx next time to handle it myself.

  13. I think I might start offering my stories in Audio format as well, sorta like an Ebook, since some people may be visually impaired and I think having a screen reader read something is far less entertaining than having an actual human being read something. The reader would be female of course.

I'm unsure when exactly I'll get around to doing this but It's absolutely something I'm going to be looking into.

  14. Made significant progress on Chapter 13 today, should probably be out either tomorrow night or Monday night.

Hope you guys enjoy it when it's out!

    Stay Tuned ~Kasarberang

  15. Saw that today was your birthday, so I decided to send a Happy Birthday your way.

May you have many more wonderful happy years ahead of you!

      ~Brian~

Thanks:  and I sent the site another $25 - feel pretty generous this month, and I LOVE this place ;)

Was messing around with my GoPro Hero 8 Black, need to see what I got - also went out for the first time in like 2 months today with mask on - Doctors orders hehehe :)  Sometimes, wish what happened (in the story)  that would happen to me, pretty girl, you know the drill *grin*

  16. Work on Chapter 14 of My Time At The Everland Farms is being worked on.

This is my longest story yet and I'm very happy with it so far.

Once the story is complete I'll be going through the whole thing, fixing various grammar/spelling mistakes that I missed while writing and release the story in various file formats such as EPUB alongside the current formats of PDF, TXT and ODT.

Thank you Brian! I hope it matches or even exceeds or expectations.

  17. Writers block is the worst, it's like I have ideas but no idea how to turn those ideas into actual content.

Chapter 15 might take a little longer than expected. :/

    1. ~Brian~

      ~Brian~

Don't worry man:  I know how hard that can be:  You have an idea or a premise and you are not able to come up with a way to make everything make sense....Its like having a salad...You have all the INGREDIENTS, but you have a hard time deciding what you could make to go **with the salad**

Take your time Man.....I KNOW the feeling.....having Ideas on the tip of your brain, and not being able to turn them to words......You are NOT alone

      Good Luck!

I agree! It's definitely awful! Haha.

  18. @Jesse The BabySpiderBoyI'm moving this conversation here, as I always feel bad whenever we derail a thread to talk about something unrelated.

To try and answer your question of why other with my condition did not live very long.

Because the level of care required is higher than the standards of the medical industry. They would get infection after infection caused by nurses/doctors not being careful enough. Even I have had many infections due to medical neglect.

When I was 2 I had my last site for my central line to go, you have a certain amount of viable places and all of mine were gone by the age of 2.  When that happened my mom learned how to do all my medical stuff and made sure she did things really carefully and really well. She (up until my dad died) had the highest standards as far as my care was concerned. I have gotten very few infections since then. But even my younger sister died from medical neglect. The medical industry is shit, they genuinely don't care and often times do the minimum required to not get fired.

Not everyone is this way, there are a few genuinely great nurses and doctors out there, but they are the exception, not the rule.

You know that saying "Male bullies become cops, female bullies become nurses?" from my experience, that's very true.

      @Jesse The BabySpiderBoy

It's often not the doctors, but the nurses. And yes, it's a matter of sterility.

Speaking frankly, it's easy for someone to say that they've received only the best of care if the care they receive does not require a whole lot of effort on a nurse's part. It's not hard to say, change a bandage, rotate a patient, give someone medication, take someone to the bathroom, or even to insert and deal with a simple arm I.V. Those things are fairly low risk and require low skill and effort on the nurse's part. I could literally do most of those things myself, no problem.

It's often those require a certain level of care, one that requires someone to actually, well, give a shit. Something that, if messed up, could literally kill the patient. It's those people who receive the shit care because nurses simply don't, they don't care. If the patient dies because they weren't careful, or didn't maintain sterile protocol, they still get their paycheck, they won't get in trouble "oh, he was going to die anyway" they'd say and because the situation was slightly more complex than average, everyone will believe that, yeah they probably would have died anyway.

I have had such a bad experience with the medical industry that I actively avoid telling my doctors things that any normal person would be worried about. I've had multiple issues where I tell the doctors the problem, so then the doctors try and "fix it", usually the "fix" causes permanent problems and doesn't actually fix the original issue. So, I've just stopped telling anyone anything, unless I, personally, deem it an emergency. The doctors aren't as bad as the nurses though, I have had better experiences with them on average (though still plenty of bad experiences.) I think it's because it's far easier to become a nurse than a doctor, so doctor's tend to be more knowledgeable and more caring in general.

    3. Little Cub Pants

      Little Cub Pants

That is EXTREMELY fucked up! No wonder you HATE the medical industry. I would too given what you've been through. Like, GOOD God!☹️?????? Those nurses should get their medical license taken away, if they do stuff like that. it goes against the hypocratic oath. Especially because a patient can die on your watch when you could've prevented it. That's JUST cold blooded murder at THAT point. LOL!???????

    4. kasarberang

      kasarberang

@Jesse The BabySpiderBoyThe fact is nurses, especially RN's which is the only level of nurse which is allowed to take care of people like me, are on short supply. They get hired and basically can do whatever they want because they graduated from nursing school. That's all it takes, they don't have to be good, and they will never get fired, and even if they are, it doesn't mean anything. Companies will snatch any RN up if they get a chance.

I had a nurse who was there when my dad had a heart attack, she was taking care of me at the time, but I was upstairs watching stuff with my wife, while she was downstairs. She watched my dad die on the stairs of our house as my sister's screamed. She did not perform CPR on my dad, which could have saved his life.

She is still at the exact nursing agency she was at when she was working with me, she didn't even get a slap on the wrist for not performing CPR which she is technically mandated to do if ever there's a situation like that.

  19. @Jesse The BabySpiderBoyI have a question, do the emoji in your messages have a meaning, or is it just a bunch of random emojis for added flair? Should I spend some extra time trying to decode what the emoji are saying?

    1. Little Cub Pants

      Little Cub Pants

No, my Emojis are more or less to just Express my emotions. I try to use my Emojis to express my tone of voice in my opinion of what I'm saying so that it has more of a connection to how I feel emotionally about a topic. It's ALSO just another way to show my personality, because I have a VERY silly personality actually.???? I'm a legit 11 or 12 year old in an 27-year-old body. LOL! A 27 year old DISABLED body. Nevertheless!??
