  1. You are the only person I know who has referred to Windows 11 as an upgrade. Even people I know who moved to Windows 11 (or use Windows 10) consider it a downgrade. I'm constantly reading things about how Microsoft is making the Windows experience less and less like your computer and more like their computer. I understand why someone would want to use Windows, but for me personally it's far too restrictive. Hell, until very recently if you wanted to have a dark theme on your computer without using the terrible high contrast themes you had to risk bricking your OS, just to install a dark theme. Which for someone like me who has extremely sensitive vision is a must. Why did you have to do that? Because Microsoft locks down themes so you can only install "official Microsoft themes" Even now, if you enable the dark theme not all applications will respect it, so it's not uncommon to open an application and have a flash of blinding light pop up on your screen. So installing an unofficial theme is probably still the best solution for those who don't want their eyes to bleed, since at least that forces applications to comply with your theme choices. Then there's the whole, Windows Update stopping whatever you're doing and forcing you to restart and install updates (provided you don't have a specific version of windows which has the option to disable this), the fact that they install apps like Candy Crush on your system without your consent and placing ads and telemetry everywhere. And let's not forget the "Free" update to Windows 10 that forced users on Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 to update if they clicked the X button on the update popup. Again, I get why someone would want to use windows, mostly it's just habit, people are used to Windows and they are used to it's little quirks. But for me, It's just not the right choice.
  2. I find my hobbies rotate, sometimes I just have nothing I'm particularly interested in doing. This hits home for those times. Don't feel bad, Mikey, sometimes it's okay to lose a day. Life goes by so fast, it's nice to just take it slow some days.
  3. @Jesse The BabySpiderBoyI'm moving this conversation here, as I always feel bad whenever we derail a thread to talk about something unrelated.

To try and answer your question of why other with my condition did not live very long.

Because the level of care required is higher than the standards of the medical industry. They would get infection after infection caused by nurses/doctors not being careful enough. Even I have had many infections due to medical neglect.

When I was 2 I had my last site for my central line to go, you have a certain amount of viable places and all of mine were gone by the age of 2.  When that happened my mom learned how to do all my medical stuff and made sure she did things really carefully and really well. She (up until my dad died) had the highest standards as far as my care was concerned. I have gotten very few infections since then. But even my younger sister died from medical neglect. The medical industry is shit, they genuinely don't care and often times do the minimum required to not get fired.

Not everyone is this way, there are a few genuinely great nurses and doctors out there, but they are the exception, not the rule.

You know that saying "Male bullies become cops, female bullies become nurses?" from my experience, that's very true.

      @Jesse The BabySpiderBoy

It's often not the doctors, but the nurses. And yes, it's a matter of sterility.

Speaking frankly, it's easy for someone to say that they've received only the best of care if the care they receive does not require a whole lot of effort on a nurse's part. It's not hard to say, change a bandage, rotate a patient, give someone medication, take someone to the bathroom, or even to insert and deal with a simple arm I.V. Those things are fairly low risk and require low skill and effort on the nurse's part. I could literally do most of those things myself, no problem.

It's often those require a certain level of care, one that requires someone to actually, well, give a shit. Something that, if messed up, could literally kill the patient. It's those people who receive the shit care because nurses simply don't, they don't care. If the patient dies because they weren't careful, or didn't maintain sterile protocol, they still get their paycheck, they won't get in trouble "oh, he was going to die anyway" they'd say and because the situation was slightly more complex than average, everyone will believe that, yeah they probably would have died anyway.

I have had such a bad experience with the medical industry that I actively avoid telling my doctors things that any normal person would be worried about. I've had multiple issues where I tell the doctors the problem, so then the doctors try and "fix it", usually the "fix" causes permanent problems and doesn't actually fix the original issue. So, I've just stopped telling anyone anything, unless I, personally, deem it an emergency. The doctors aren't as bad as the nurses though, I have had better experiences with them on average (though still plenty of bad experiences.) I think it's because it's far easier to become a nurse than a doctor, so doctor's tend to be more knowledgeable and more caring in general.

That is EXTREMELY fucked up! No wonder you HATE the medical industry. I would too given what you've been through. Like, GOOD God!☹️?????? Those nurses should get their medical license taken away, if they do stuff like that. it goes against the hypocratic oath. Especially because a patient can die on your watch when you could've prevented it. That's JUST cold blooded murder at THAT point. LOL!???????

@Jesse The BabySpiderBoyThe fact is nurses, especially RN's which is the only level of nurse which is allowed to take care of people like me, are on short supply. They get hired and basically can do whatever they want because they graduated from nursing school. That's all it takes, they don't have to be good, and they will never get fired, and even if they are, it doesn't mean anything. Companies will snatch any RN up if they get a chance.

I had a nurse who was there when my dad had a heart attack, she was taking care of me at the time, but I was upstairs watching stuff with my wife, while she was downstairs. She watched my dad die on the stairs of our house as my sister's screamed. She did not perform CPR on my dad, which could have saved his life.

She is still at the exact nursing agency she was at when she was working with me, she didn't even get a slap on the wrist for not performing CPR which she is technically mandated to do if ever there's a situation like that.

  4. It's a bit more complicated than that. 100% of our income is because I am disabled. I am on disability and my wife works by taking care of me through a state program. And my disability doesn't just pay the bills either, but it allows my wife and I to spend all day every day together, and it's honestly wonderful. I view my disability more as a blessing than anything else. You don't understand, what I lose from my disability is far less than what I have gained. Honestly, I view eating as more of an inconvenience than anything. You get hungry, you have to deal with getting fat, managing nutrition etc. I can have as much of what I can eat as I want with no side effects, as my weight and nutrition is all dealt with for me. I have no hunger and I don't digest, so say drinking a bunch of soda has significantly fewer downsides than it would for anyone else. When I was younger, I wouldn't have wished this disability on my worst enemies, but I blame a lot of that on my environment at the time. Now I can't imagine how horrible life would be without it. Now am I saying life is without its hardships, but the good significantly outweighs the bad to the point that the bad is negligible to me.
  5. I did not, this is a genetic disorder that me and 2 of my siblings (now deceased) share. Both died from medical neglect. One died of liver failure, lead managed to get into one of the I.V medications we were getting, which was causing us both to die of liver failure. I only survived because I was older and had a slightly better immune system when they found out, but I was on my way out as well. The other died of starvation before I was even born, she was sent home from the hospital when she clearly was not well, she died before she even reached 2 months old. I appreciate your prayers, but be mindful when you pray. Do not pray for me to be healed or anything like that, my life would be significantly worse if such a thing were to happen to me. Instead, pray for my condition to remain stable, as right now, I am living the absolute best life that I could live.
  6. I have purchased it. I wish your friend the best and hope that things get better for them.
  7. Thanks, I'm glad that some people understand. I think people put more stock into the "value" of eating than there is to put in. My quality of life would be so much lower if I could eat. Not to mention the hassle of a post-surgery life. (Not that my doctors would let me get this risky surgery anyway, since you know I'm doing so well without it, it'd be kind of silly to jeopardize that.)
  8. I think you're focusing on the wrong part of my comment.
  9. I can eat anything that does not require you to chew (I can't digest it though.). so any drinks/liquids or really smooth things like icecream or yogurt or whipped cream. There is a transplant that I could get in order to eat, but I have no interest, and I'm doing so well that my doctors don't think it's worth the risk of the surgery. It's not a stomach issue, it's an intestinal issue. I have intestinal failure. That's not super important though, but felt it worth mentioning. I could develop the skill to chew, but because I have a horrid gag reflex (basically anything with a certain texture causes me to throw up.) that sounds very miserable. It's like, "yeah, you could develop a skill to do this not very interesting thing. All you have to do is suffer months if not years in physical therapy while you consistently gag and throw up miserably, but at the end you might be able to eat something that you will get no functional benefit from at all. How does that sound?!?!?" Miserable, it sounds miserable. Why would I want to actively go out of my way to go through months if not years of misery, just so that I could eat food, which would then make me feel like garbage because it wouldn't digest, and I probably wouldn't like the taste anyway?
  10. I think you might be mixing up your personal comfort level with morality. It's not immoral to say, enjoy or even post gay porn. There's objectively nothing wrong with it. You may personally feel uncomfortable with it, and that's okay, but that does not make it immoral or disgusting inherently.
  11. We always buy store brands, saves so much money and there's often no difference from the name brand, a lot of the times they're made by the exact same people. Or the generic store brand just gets the "imperfect" bits that the store brand would otherwise throw out. Yeah, I don't eat, I get central line I.Vs (TPN specifically) to substitute. The condensed version is that my digestive system doesn't work, I simply can't digest food. It's gotten a little better as I've got older, but I still don't digest nearly enough to survive. Also I never learned how to eat, since my family saw it as a useless skill to learn, since well, I can't digest and have a sensitive stomach. So, even if I wanted to start eating I'd have to do a bunch of physical therapy for something that honestly doesn't sound very appealing to me. Not technically true, I have a stomach, it just doesn't digest as well as everyone else's. Also saying the only thing I can eat is soup and drink soda is also incorrect and implies that somehow I can digest those things specifically. But it's more like because those things are liquid and don't require chewing (a skill I never developed) I can get them down my throat without gagging/throwing up. I can also eat icecream for the same reason, but It's very rare that I'm in the mood for icecream.
  12. I think you made a pretty drastic leap. Gay porn is far from torture porn and limb dismemberment, or any of the other stuff you're implying. Though yes, those are some pretty horrendous things that the internet has to offer. But I think that they are leagues more extreme than what you describes which is just Gay Porn, which is fairly mild. Maybe you see gay porn as significantly more extreme than it actually is. Most people would consider most BDSM or hell even AB/DL as significantly more "fucked up" than some guy giving another guy a blowjob. I obviously have no problem with BDSM, AB/DL or most kinks really. I say, so long as you don't involve anyone who does not want to be involved or cannot consent to being involved, you do you. I'm very kink-friendly.
  13. She does look very cute. How does that game work as far as characters are concerned? Like do different characters have different stats or advantages/disadvantages? I'm not very knowledgeable about gacha games, except for that there's a lot of RNG/microtransactions built in.
  14. If you think that the stuff you've seen on Twitter is disturbing, you truly have not seen what absolutely horrendous things the internet has to offer. In my humble opinion, the things you describe are so mild they aren't even of note. I wouldn't even give them a second glance. Hell, some of the things I'm personally into are SIGNIFICANTLY more degenerate/weird than the stuff you've described. However, this sort of thing is all very subjective.
  15. How often do you go grocery shopping, does your food go bad often? My wife and I go shopping about once a week, usually a week of groceries is about $50, sometimes a little less, sometimes a little more. We find if we buy for more than a week's worth of food, a lot of it ends up going bad. Since we started doing this we have saved trips to the store and also money. Keep in mind this is basically groceries for 1 as I don't eat. So the pricing per-month actually is around what you're paying for 2 people, assuming it's a month's worth of groceries that you bought.
  16. They are phones that use the new standard in order to function, but maintain the old aesthetic, so they are functional replicas. https://www.amazon.com/Telephones-Sangyn-Classic-Landline-Telephone/dp/B01I4SOFGO
  17. They do still make home phones and Rotary phones are also still made, though the rotary phones on the market now are just functional replicas, but that's fine I want one anyway. It's actually still highly recommended having a home phone for emergency purposes. Home phones are bound to your exact house, and it makes it easy for emergency services to track the call to your location, instead of just your general area. So it's recommended to have one in case of emergency.
  18. That's interesting. I think most people use their phone a lot now adays. I am not one of them, lol. I don't even bring my phone with me when I go out. If it were up to me we'd have a home phone and that's it, and not just any home phone, I want a rotary home phone! I like that aesthetic. My wife uses her phone enough to justify us having regular phones though, and it's nice to be able to check messages and emails when I wake up, but aside from when I first wake up or when we go out to like a doctors appointment or somewhere far away, I don't use my phone at all.
  19. Don't eat the yellow snow! unless you're into that sorta thing.
  20. Something that might help you be a little more lax when it comes to individuals on YouTube, is a lot (if not most) of YouTube traffic actually comes from phones, so there's probably a large number of comments made using a mobile phone. I don't know about you, but I have a very difficult time typing anything actually meaningful on a phone. The keyboard is so small and my fingers are fairly big, plus I have to deal with the imperfections of the touchscreen sometimes pressing buttons I don't mean to. Add autocorrect, trying it's best to totally ruin everything you are trying to say by automatically replacing words with other words that make no sense if given the smallest amount of context. Anyway, phones are frustrating, and I seldom use my phone except for calling. I even use my computer for texting/calling most of the time, because it's just so much easier for me to navigate. This is starting to go on a bit of a tangent about how I hate phones, so I'll stop there, lol.
  21. Mostly just a personal preference, I like that it's open source and I like supporting open-source projects. It being open-source means there are more eyes on the code and it's less likely for it to have security vulnerabilities, since multiple people can contribute to help fix bugs. Also, it helps ensure that the software isn't doing anything shady in the background, since people can audit the code to see exactly what it's doing. This isn't a sure fire guarantee, but it does hold the company more accountable, since if they were hiding something malicious in their code and someone found it, it could ruin their reputation. Whereas companies with non-open-sourced code can do whatever they want. It's also significantly cheaper than Grammarly, which is a reason in of itself. Grammarly costs $12/mo $144/year, LanguageTool is $60/year, which is less than half of Grammarly. I also find LanguageTool's privacy policy to be a bit more readable and easy to understand, whereas Grammarly's is significantly longer with a lot more variables to consider. I prefer to use products with easier to understand Privacy Policies, so I know what I'm signing up for. It's all a matter of personal choice. I use what works for me and others should use what works for them!
  22. So, I was just writing something and my grammar correcting program "LanguageTool" basically the open source alternative to "Grammarly" told me that "Thanks in advance" can come off as demanding. This is especially odd to me as I always thought of "Thanks in advance" to be a polite way of ending a letter/message. Mind you, this isn't meant to be some super serious post, simply me asking your thoughts on this as I find it fairly interesting.
  23. My room has to be cold and the fans need to be on all at full blast. I can't sleep without the fans on. I was having trouble sleeping awhile ago and looked something up and found a trick they do in the military to fall to sleep quickly. Try your best to think about something easy to think about, something that rests your mind. Next lay flat on your back with your limbs stretched out (or put in a relaxing position that's comfortable to you.) and just lay. Personally My limbs are almost never fully stretched as that's not comfortable for me, but once I find a good position for my limbs that usually works pretty well for me.
  24. We have to pay to use out laundry machine, it's about $4 to do a load of laundry, this includes washer & dryer, If we need to use multiple washers or dryers that's another $4, I usually try to minimize trips, just because it's inconvenient, and I'd rather get my money's worth and fill up a whole machine. Plus it's a hassle cause I need to walk out to the laundry room 3 times, one to put in the laundry, put the laundry into the dryer and take the laundry back into our apartment. Each machine takes up 45 minutes to finish. So, I usually do it right around when our dirty clothes hamper is full, which is usually about 1 washing machine/dryer worth of clothes. I'm not opposed to doing it more, say if we need a specific set of clothes for an event/outing, but usually, it's just when the hamper is full.
  25. I love everyone on this site, regardless of their opinions on or off the site. I hope each one of you is doing wonderfully.
