  1. Now they've blocked the ebook as well. Time to find a new home and revisit the "Amazon Alternatives" thread.
  2. Amazon just blocked my most recent paperback book with their typically cryptic "You violated a rule" boilerplate response. There doesn't appear to be a rhyme or reason to it as the ebook published just fine from the same upload file. Anyone with experience on this matter? How to I get the book unlocked where I can correct it and find out what is wrong with it?
  3. In appreciation of DD and all the folks here, I'm giving away the latest revision of my Halloween themed book, Halloween Again? Free Book Promotion Friday, October 4, 2019, 12:00 AM PDT Sunday, October 6, 2019, 11:59 PM PDT
  4. Hmm, mixed messages here. My problem is no stylebook in the world is going to fix the fact that I think faster than I type and spellcheck doesn't correct a properly spelled word in the wrong place. I'm running Grammarly on all of my previously published stories, stories I've personally proofread at least 4-5 times. It is very embarrassing to see how many times I used "really" and "actually" in my stories. On top of that, it found a hundred missing commas and a half that many commas that I didn't need. In the end, will it make me a better writer (as if I am one now?) Probably not. Will it make my stories less painful and possibly enjoyable to read? It definitely won't hurt.
  5. Exactly! My mind already knows the whole story and fills in the missing pieces that I'm desperately trying to fix. Our mind literally plays tricks on us. I may give the narrator a try if it is available in Open Office. I don't use MS Office.
  6. I don't have a problem with what I want to say but I do have a problem with the way my brain sees it and the way it actually appears on a printed page. I also type "they" for "the" and vice versa a lot. A grammar checker catches that nearly 100% of the time and I certainly know when and were to use both of those properly. Indeed tastes change. The complete and utter misuse of words drives me to distraction. I had a good education but, to put it bluntly, proper English can be pretty boring sometimes. My mind outruns my fingers most of the time and I drop words or mistype "where" for "were" and vice versa a lot more than I care to admit. Grammarly found four such instances in one story that I had proofread no fewer than three times before I published. I find typos in online articles and the odd printer material I read all the time. I chalk it up to quicker production timelines and move on. I would prefer books, especially my books, to be better edited and refined.
  7. Is anyone using a grammar checker? I'm trying out the free version of Grammarly. I use Open Office and the grammar/spell check with it is only so-so but it is free. Grammarly is catching a lot of silly stuff that is not misspelled like I have the tendency of putting "the the" more than a few times! Other than having a proofreader, this is helping. Anyone use anything better?
  8. I just knew his cop buddies were going to razz him about kicking a killer's ass while diapered! LOL
  9. Last day to get a free copy on Amazon. It goes back to regular price at midnight Seattle, WA time.
  10. For the long holiday weekend, I'm giving away copies of my third in the series, Thin Walls Trilogy: Book 3 - A Home of Their Own to my friends here at DD. Even if you don't like me you can still have a copy as my way of sharing with the folks that helped inspire me to write. It will be free from Saturday through Monday. That is August 31 12:01AM PDT to September 2, 2019 11:59PM PDT. Thin Walls Trilogy: Book 3 - A Home of Their Own
  11. Now that it is released, here's the first chapter to look at: Chapter 1 Maggie had been in and out of foster homes and institutions most of her life. Her parents were killed in an automobile accident when she was not yet three years old. She recently turned 25 in state care and was about to be declared able to rejoin society after several setbacks, including her current stay in a state mental facility. This hospital had been her home for the last seven years. Due to the trauma of losing her parents at such an early age and having no loving family to nurture her, she was never able to successfully potty train. She had spent her entire life in diapers of one sort or another and it had been no end of problems for her when it came to fostering or possible adoption. Maggie didn't have any family when her parents were killed and had four sets of foster parents between the ages of three and nine years old. Despite good intentions, foster parents don't want to deal with an older child that isn't toilet trained on top of her behavioral issues arising from the death of her parents. Maggie never had a fair shake in life. She was unsure what would happen next but she was positive it would be a new and better experience and she would not be locked in her room at nights. Freedom from the barred windows and the endless medications would be worth any awkwardness that she would face from here on out. The doctor visited her on his rounds that day, hopefully, the last day before her discharge to a halfway house. The doctor and Maggie talked about the outside world, how it was different from TV and what Maggie remembered of it from her times with foster parents. He asked about her parents but she barely remembered and only knew what they looked like from a few portraits she had to remember them by. "So, Maggie," Dr Bob asked, "What is the first thing you want to do when you leave here? Go shopping? Eat in a fancy restaurant? Take a bubble bath?" Maggie knew exactly what she wanted to do, "Potty train! I want to get out of diapers and learn to use the toilet like other big girls!" Dr Bob patted her hand, "Now, Maggie, you know that you have tried before and failed. I'm not sure we should discharge you if you are going to have unrealistic expectations." Maggie just smiled, "But now I have a real reason. I'm going OUTSIDE! I will do it. I know I can do it. There's nothing to stop me." "I suspect you can do anything you put your mind to," said the doctor as he finished his paperwork and wished Maggie well. When he left Nurse Alice entered and asked Maggie, “Do you need a change?” Maggie acknowledged that she did with a nod, “Yes, please.” "Do you want to try it on your own?" asked Nurse Alice. "Yes," replied Maggie, "although I won't have to do it for very long. I'm going to start my potty training as soon as I get out and into a real home!" The nurse smiled, thinking to herself that this child was never going to have a dry day her whole life. As a nurse at the hospital for the last four years, she had changed Maggie at least a couple of times a day on every shift she'd ever worked. Maggie had never exhibited any kind of control and Alice suspected that her kegel muscles would never develop to allow her bladder control. She also knew that when Maggie was confined to restraints and medicated due to behavior violations, she would not only wet herself but mess herself as well. As Nurse Alice watched, Maggie removed the diaper and cleaned herself with a wet wipe. This was much better than the times when they had to restrain her to the bed and use locking garments to keep her from ripping her diapers off. Maggie did an adequate job of changing herself but the nurse had to help her snug up the top tapes. The nurse folded the old diaper and dropped it in the garbage pail at the door as she left Maggie's room to continue her rounds. A few hour before lunch an orderly arrived to accompany Maggie to the garden. She liked going outside to the garden. She was allowed to wander around, touch the flowers and generally be on her own. Her two hours were up before she was ready and Maggie was reluctant to leave. The orderly asked more sternly, “Maggie, it is time to go inside. Lunch is being served. You want lunch don't you?” She remained oblivious to the orderlies prodding. She was going to stay and enjoy the garden. After all, she would soon be discharged and the rules didn't apply any more. The orderly called on his radio for help and another man appeared. "Maggie," said the second orderly, "do you want me to call Dr Bob?" "I don't care!" Maggie said defiantly, “I'm leaving tomorrow. Go ahead.” The second orderly made good on his promise and called the doctor. Doctor Bob arrived several minutes later and there was not a smile on his face. He shrugged his shoulders. "Maggie," he shook his head as he spoke, "I'm afraid you simply are not ready to leave. This is evidence that I was premature in my judgment." "NO!" screamed Maggie, "I am LEAVING TOMORROW!" She started pulling the flowers, breaking them off the stem, and throwing them at the doctor. The doctor gave an affirmative nod and the orderlies moved in on Maggie. After a short scuffle they managed to hold her still. The doctor produced a syringe from his pocket with a dose of sedative and administered it into his unruly and uncooperative patient. Maggie could feel her bladder empty as she lost control of her limbs in the fuzziness that the drugs induced. When Maggie regained some of her sense she was still weak and restrained to her bed at the wrist, waist and ankles. She had slobbered all over herself as well as excessively wet her diaper. From the smell she was pretty sure she had also messed. That was rare. She disliked wetting herself but was used to it but messing herself was something she'd managed to avoid if given a chance. Damn the doctor, he had done this to her! She was being treated like big baby and THEY did it to her on purpose, to keep her here. The nurse entered the room with a clipboard in one hand, smiling at Maggie but it didn't last because she wrinkled her nose at the stench the poor girl made. Nurse Alice said, "Well, seems you need a diaper change in the worst way! Will you behave if I release you? Be a good girl?" Maggie wasn't a very big girl and the nurse could easily handle her but if Maggie promised to be good, the nurses all knew she would not be a problem. After all, at five feet and four inches and 115 pounds, a strong breeze was a battle for her. She nodded her obedience and the nurse came over to the foot of the bed. The nurse released her ankles and pulled the sheet back but did not release her wrist or waist. Maggie was not happy about it but decided to wait until she was cleaned up before protesting the treatment. The nurse had a mean streak and would have left Maggie in her own filth all day if she had acted up in the least. Maggie welcomed the fresh diaper and was a perfect patient while being changed. Once that was finished she asked the nurse to release her hands and waist. The nurse declined and Maggie held her temper and sighed. The doctor came in and said, "I've been reviewing your medication, I think we need to make some minor adjustments and you might feel better. So how are you today?" Maggie took a deep breath and said, "Much better, I wasn't myself. I am so embarrassed by my actions yesterday. Can you ever forgive me?" Dr Bob nodded, "Of course, Maggie. If you show signs of improvement, maybe you can leave in a week or two. Won't that be nice?" Maggie smiled and Dr Bob whispered to Nurse Alice. The nurse released all the remaining restraints. What a relief, Maggie thanked him and she decided she must be good to get out of this place. She was sure her life would end if she stayed here. The next five days were uneventful. Maggie stayed out of trouble, ate her meals without incident and changed herself about half the time. She hoped the doctor would let her leave soon. She was ready to be out in the world, to be a part of life instead of warming the bench... and her diapers. One evening, the doctor came to her room and announced, "Would you like to leave tomorrow?" Maggie screamed and finally answered, "Of course! You're serious? You mean it?" Dr Bob and Maggie talked about how she would come in for checkups once a month and would stay on her medication. Maggie was so happy she didn't know what else to say. The doctor hugged her and said he'd see her in the morning when she was ready to be released. The nurse came in and asked if she needed changing. Maggie thought and pressed the front of her diaper. It was wet enough to change. She said, “Yes, I'd like to do it myself.” The nurse watched and clapped. She told Maggie that she had it down perfect, she could teach her no more. Maggie prepared for bed but she could barely sleep from the excitement of her imminent discharge from the hospital.
  12. https://www.lifenews.com/2019/08/23/satanic-temple-rally-will-demand-abortions-of-babies-for-any-reason-up-to-birth/ Well, that was weird. Showed up in a feed.
  13. Actually, you should be able to see now if you have sales or pages read. Look at Reports then select month to date. You won't get paid for 90 days but you'll see the stats. Try this link if you haven't seen beta reports: https://kdpreports.amazon.com/dashboard
  14. My next book is being released on Amazon this Saturday, titled A Normal Life for Maggie I'm not giving this one away yet but here is the blurb: Maggie has had anything but a normal life. Her parents lost at an early age, never potty trained and shuffled from foster home to foster home before finally being consigned to a mental hospital where she was never given the love and nurturing a child needs. We find Maggie, on the verge of leaving the hospital, as she starts her journey to having a normal life. Still in diapers, she will have challenges. Setbacks are to be expected but some seem insurmountable. Will she find happiness? Might she even find love?
  15. I only promote my works here and zity.biz for the most part. I also try to give a book away periodically to reward the readers here for supporting my efforts for the last decade plus. Amazon is probably not the greatest place but it is global and I'm getting sales from most of the English speaking world and a few non-primary English places like Brazil, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Netherlands and Spain. It is amazing to me, a small town smut writer.
  16. What's the worst that can happen? It costs you nothing but your time. I've made a few $100 so far and I've given away about half of my books for free at one time or another to the folks here that want a copy.
  17. Two excellent ideas! I might even combine them. How about a giant diaper box factory with a diaper truck pulling out of it?
  18. I need some ideas. I've got a book I'm finishing up that I'm tentatively naming "The Factory Job" about people that are fed a substance that their bodies convert into a very unique protein and then collected in special diapers. Essentially, their bodies are the factories. I've toyed with the idea of hospital beds with stacks of diapers nearby but I've already done a cover page similar to that. Then I considered an old factory complex but I can't think of a way to get diapers onto the page. Another thought is a lab setting where I can have a shelf full of diapers but not sure it would be interesting or unique enough. Any ideas?
  19. If it is a different thought or a different person is acting, that's a good place to break for a new paragraph. Try for two or three sentences per paragraph and see how it flows.
  20. Depressingly, I was paid $0.62 for that copy. Thanks for the input.
  21. Ah, good way to look at it. Especially since it was a single book. I think I'll turn it off because I didn't make $1 off that sale.
  22. Someone bought a book of mine from an "Expanded Distribution" site. I had recently set all my books to this in May. I'm not sure what that was, an actual bookstore of another online marketplace but it was the first. With that I've sold about 5 paperbacks total since I started in October of 2018. Paperback books aren't nearly as popular nor as profitable as ebooks but then again I'm not in it for the money. This is more of an experiment for me. I wanted to understand the whole dynamic of writing and selling a book on my own. It has made me more aware of what I put down on the page and how it flows in a more confining format like the printed page. Anyone else sell paperbacks with good success?
  23. Amazon replied back with this. If you have issues, please try this: Yes, you can confirm with the readers to check if the updated content is available for them. I'd like to clarify that the updated content can be viewed by them, after they download the updates. We’ve sent an e-mail to customers who own the book to notify them of the update. These customers can download the update through their “Manage Your Content and Devices” page. If you own a copy of your book, you can also download the newer version from this page.
