  1. .....Yet, you jump right into one of the most popular websites with thousands of strangers and ask us for help?.....

how do you know whether we know more about him than you do?

how did you find this place, is he a member? for how long?

Well put diaprbayb. Some of the nagging back of the mind questions I've had since I first saw the OP about 6-7 hrs after it was posted.

For the time being, I am accepting 'her' post at face value, although I am also skeptical until the questions are answered.

  2. Cool little bonus: When you send a gift card using this link I get an extra 6% for referring you. Got an extra $9.60 in bonuses over the weekend!

I tried to use the link to put you at or above the goal, (at this hour, my donation would put you at it,) but got lost at the requirement for your name and email address. What do I put in? Will try later, but at worst, I'll have to send you a card or check by snail mail. lol

  3. Welcome back!

I read some, but don't participate in roleplay, so I didn't notice you missing there.

The depression is what caught my eye as I too suffer from it and have skipped many activities because of it. Meds sometimes work.

Best to you on overcoming the depression and negatives!

  4. So sorry for your loss!

    Same here!

I have been touched by suicides of close, mid, & distant friends. I understand your feelings and wish you the best.

I wish there was a way to understand the 'signals' and prevent it. One of the hardest was sitting on the beach talking for hours on many subjects, in part his seemingly upbeat plans for his future. Two weeks later he was gone.

  5. .....license in the sense of guns in not fizical when you buy a gun(legally) its registered to you after its purchased so technically it is a license......

Technically, it is NOT a license, it is REGISTRATION and that ONLY applies to handguns in MI. One must have a purchase permit from their local PD, or have a valid CPL to make a purchase. Four part paperwork is done. One copy is kept by sellor, one by buyer, and two are returned/sent to the local PD, where they will keep one and forward the other to the State Police database. One must be 21 to purchase a handgun from an FFL (Fed law,) but MI law allows 18-21 to purchase privately. Another quirk is that one must be 21+ to get a concealed carry permit, but 18+ can carry openly.

But.... We were talking long guns. I can't speak on ages to own or possess, been too long to remember and I'm not inclined to look it up. :)

When legally purchasing a long gun from a dealer, they must run a NICS background check. If it comes back clear for purchase, the feds are supposed to destroy the data "immediately."* The dealer keeps the form in his files. In other words, ONLY the dealer has the buyer's info. When buying/selling between private parties, absolutely NO info needs to be exchanged, not even names.** See gun, pay cash, take home gun, no problem. I have done it many times. Again, there is NO license, paperwork, (except dealer,) permit, or registration of long guns in MI

Please answer my questions in post #22 on "death toll," "funny," and what law you checked.

*There are rumors that the feds are keeping info for one to six months, to permantely. This is something everyone should be concerned about as, if true, it is a national gun registration database.

**There is varied discussion on gun forums about getting basic info and keeping a journal when selling or buying a long gun so one can 'document' when, where, and who purchased/sold, just 'in case.'

  6. im a michigander trust me it a law i checked (fed law superseeds state law on gun licencing laws)

What the hell are you talking about? Since "you checked," please quote the "law" you are talking about.

thats why it my fav because it ignores the death toll and damage its just plane funny

oh just so you know about this

    Weird Michigan Laws

Any person over the age of 12 may have a license for a rifel as long as he/she has not been convicted of a felony

in mi as long as you have a parent sign you can buy a gun for hunting if your older then 12 and it will be listed under your name not your parents but your parent is resopnsible if you do something stupid with it

the reason for this is im mi you need to be 12 to get a hunting licence and if you are 12 you need a seporate licence and can get your own kills so if you go out with a parent you both can get your quota

edit sorry i should have sed rifel instead of handgun

Again, what the hell are you talking about? What "death toll" and what is "plane" (plain) funny?

There is NO SUCH THING AS A LICENSE TO OWN A LONG GUN IN MI!

I don't know where you are getting your info, but it is obvious you are not current on MI laws, or for that matter, knowing that "rifel" is correctly spelled "rifle."

"....and if you are 12 you need a seporate licence ..." WTF are you talking about?

I'm out, your statements don't make any sense.

"(fed law superseeds state law on gun licencing laws)" Wrong again, most state laws supercede fed laws!

  7. i got a few for ya

    Weird Michigan Laws

    • ........

    • Any person over the age of 12 may have a license for a handgun as long as he/she has not been convicted of a felony......

    all from here http://weirdfacts.com/

    False!

I would ask you to quote the actual law, but I know you are just reposting what may be urban legends.

I hate these internet "true facts" listings without the links to the actual laws on the books. Too much stuff can be made up and repeatedly listed as "true."

Current Michigan law requires a handgun purchaser to be 18 yrs old. It is NOT a license, but is 'registration' AKA 'purchase permit' allowing one to buy a handgun. (Look up "Ossian Sweet" to understand why we have racist gun registration in MI.) Federal law bans anyone under 21 in the US from buying a handgun from an FFL, (Federal Firearms Licensee,) but MI law allows 18 yr olds & up to purchase handguns privately or receive from family.

Long guns are another story as I believe that anyone of any age can own one.

  8. Mine is people who start topics that have already been started! :P

    http://www.dailydiap...34;

Just curious, can mods and admins merge threads? Some forums allow it, does this one?

And who the hell fills a car with refrigerate that doesn't vacuum down the system first to assure there are no leaks???

But just teasing... have fun gang! ;) Vent Away!

Agreed, one cannot keep adding refrgerant without vacuuming down what appeared to be an empty system, the gauges should have given the techs a clue. Maybe the OP left that step out of their rant?

  9. ......Subway being skimpy with their vegatables. Can you believe this shit? For a rule at this one Subway I was at last, they had a 6 olive limit per footlong sandwhich. Rather than just throw a handful of olives on the sandwhich, the guy would grab a few with his fingers and count 1, 2, 3... .....

Unbelievable! Must be a franchisee trying to make their own 'rules.' I believe most, if not all, fast food joints have manuals on how to make each item. (Note to self, check next time. lol) All Subways I've been to in the Detroit area put on plenty of any topping requested. If it happens again, I would suggest writing Subway's HQ, not to complain, but to let them know the store is bending policy. I have had one incident where the girl lined up all the meats on an Italian BMT neatly next to each other instead of overlapping them by about 1/3, shorting me by 2-3 slices of each. It was at my 'regular' store and never happened again.

Funny side note, one can tell the difference between Big Boy Company stores and franchisees by the amount of fries w/your meal. Company stores serve about half of what the f's do. It has happened regularily as to not be a coincidence.

Dang it! Now you've made me hungry for a Subway but since it's 3:50 a.m. here, I have to wait. lol

On topic, I have a few pet peeves and will post later.

  10. ......next time, bring a tazer, i think those are legal in most states.....

Not really for civilian use. Some states yes, some no, some, like Michigan, one has to have a CPL, (Concealrd Pistol Lisense.)

  11. Wow, another year and a half old thread ressurected. :)

Since I often chastize people for doing it, as I did to someone earlier tonight, I also have to thank you for bringing this one back.

    A. Because you brought new info, and

    B. Because I must have missed it, so thank you.

I have had the name Rihanna or a variation such as Ria', Riha', and even Ri'a, (Rita,) for 40+ years. Thought it was a low key unknown name until some upstart singer nearly my grandaughter's age used it to become famous. Now, sometimes when I order on the web, I have to answer if I am her. No, I am not that young whippersnapper! Her or her parents stole my name! :roflmao:

What little I have seen of her and her music videos, I like her and most of it, but not my normal 'cup of tea.'

Today, I think some acts like hers, GaGa, and others are over the top, but is part of what getting audiences today is about.

I could comment but won't won't because this should be another thread. Back in my day we had The Stones, Beatles, The Door's Morrison dropping his pants, MC5,* and many other considered edge acts of the day. We survived.

*Trivia; The MC5's signature song, "Kick out The Jams Mother FFFFkrs!" was performed every night at the Grande Ballroom. Their record with the actual words was played on Detroit underground FM radio until the FCC realized this "new, largely unregulated," FM radio might need to be controlled for content.

P.S., Rani, good to see you still around.

  12. Can you pick me?

Why did you bring back an almost three year old post?? He gave contact info in the first post, use it!

You are new here, so a a bit of advice, check dates of posts before replying. If it's more than a couple months old and you are not adding anything new, let it lay dormant!

Another hint, scroll your cursor over any username for a popup box to find useful info such as join date and last visit. If you had, you would have found the OP hasn't been on here since September 22, 2011.

Neither you nor he have locations posted, so why reply?

Three strikes against a very pointless post!

Speaking of you being new here, I see you have run up 7 posts in about a day. Some grandmotherly advice; sit back, read, digest and understand, including dates, before posting. I question if you are even 18, but I'll leave that to the mods.

  13. You think getting marked or signature required boxes with diapers or general merchandise is bad, think about what some friends have had happen. They got home to find FedEx, UPS, and I think even USPS packages on their porches containing live handguns in packages clearly marked "SIGNATURE REQUIRED." Big violation of Federal Law. Fortunately they weren't labelled with the Mfr's name. The only way a handgun can be shipped directly to a consumer is if that firearm, already owned by said consumer, had been sent in for service or repair. The Mf'r or repair facility can ship back under strict guidelines. Otherwise, all handgun transactions must go through a FTF (Face to Face,) deal with an FFL, (Federally Liscensed Firearms,) dealer.

Trivia; for those old enough, that means no more $3.95 handguns purchased from ads on the back pages of your nickel or dime comic books. :ninja:

  14. On & off topic.... Sure, if there are messes to cleanup, one would have to let houskeeping in on those occasions. Plastic grocery bags are plentiful and could be used to double or triple wrap diapers and leave in the bathroom garbage can for a couple days, otherwise....

Why let housekeeping in at all for a less than five day stay? So that they can go through your things? Yes, there are all kinds of housekeepers and room variations from very basic to fully stocked wet bars with or without food and or snacks that they allegedy count and charge for missing/replaced items.

Do you change home sheets daily? Two days to a week is passable. Same w/bath towels and washcloths, theyre good for a couple days. If one needs more, they can catch a housekeeper in the hall and leave used ones outside the door, possibly w/any unditiefable garbage. Most places we stay at are middle, with a fridge & microwave. I don't want to come back and find liquor, beer, or food missing.

In other words, under most cases, the "Do Not Disturb" sign goes up the minute we open the door and doesn't come down until the room is empty as we head for checkout.

Note, I am not dissing anyone here or in the business. It's my opinion from 40+ years of travelling and finding resereved rooms not fit for human residence and sleeping in the car to one time, alone I might add, I was given the bridal suite at regular rates as they had overbooked.

  15. I wasn't going to comment as I would repeating others. There are good, poor, and downright wrong opinions above.

Let me say that I drive within the group of at the limit, to +5, to 'going along w/traffic' as situation allows. Sure, the latter may get one randomly stopped, but studies have shown all traffic at the same speed is safest. WARNING, that won't work on I-94 near Detroit Metro Airport West of the D! Stay at or below the limit. Romulus cops will ticket everyone for any infraction and they have the marked, unmarked cars, equipment, and hiding places to do it. Got so bad, the airport put up warning billboards at both exits and approaches.

It's been 40+ years since I've been in any accidents or road rage and maybe a few years less for tatailgatee incidents. Well, maybe many less on the tailgating. I had to focus front and sides, so I didn't really bother looking or counting. lol I had a ~35 mile morning freeway commute home into the D from midnight shift. I wasn't in a hurry, but everybody else sure was. Three and four lane freeway from 70 MPH to zero, to 70 again repeated every mile or two, mostly caused by those who thought they could speed, weave, pass, then cut lanes causing others to slow/stop, thus the backups. It was always a laugh to see someone fly by, gain distance, then I would pass them stopped dead while my lane was still moving decently giving me over a mile lead they could never makeup.* The good thing is that over that distance in the D, there are many alternative routes. I found surface roads, mostly w/timed lights, where I could get home 20 or more minutes faster, much, much, calmer although they were 5-10 miles, (the scenic one,) longer.

*Traffic probably has changed in the 10 yrs since I retired, but I learned from my early days of driving big rigs that if one drives the same route at the same hour, nearly every day, one can learn to read where problems show.

    Sorry for rambling as I mainly wanted to comment on this;

.....I enjoy diapers, but not road rage. It's stupid! Some day you may piss off the wrong person who just happens to have a gun on them......

DISCLAIMER/WARNING. Know your gun laws! Shall issue and "stand your ground" laws are not all they appear to be as is being evidenced in the Florida Peterson case. (In that case, I think he made mistakes that will have to be sorted out in court.)

Or that person might get the tables turned....

Michigan is a shall issue and stand your ground state. In an incident last year, a 'friend of a friend' was driving to the range with a trunk load of guns and his usual carry pistol on his person. Slowing for a light, he notices a red dot cross the A pillar and rest on his chest. He looks to his side and sees a female pointing a lasered handgun at him. He stands on the brakes leaving her to stop in another 2-3 car lengths. He pulls out his gun & cell phone. Next light he ends up being directly behind her and gets a plate number, calls the cops, and tails her until they arrive and pull her over.

Twists & turns in this case, she claims he did something on the road that made her fear for her life so she claims she was right in "brandishing" on him. He claims he was just out for a "Happy Days" type Sunday afternoon drive to the range. Even being a lawyer, I believe him, :) because of him being a lawyer, and I just being a lay person, we both know that driving with a carload (exaggeration... or not? :whistling: ) of legal guns while carrying one can be big trouble from uneducated cops.

She had a legal CPL, (Concealed Pistol Lisense,) but the gun was not registered. She is the one who got tickets and hauled off to jail. (Handguns must be registered in MI. If you want the backstory, google "Ossian Sweet, 1927.") She should have been prosecuted on Felony attempted murder and loss of gun rights, but it got pled down.

Two points, first no matter what a law is called, or what friends and media tell you, one has to know it before one can implement their use of it.

Second, under the 'stand your ground' laws, he would have been fully justified shooting back as soon as the laser hit him. That would have greatly messed up both their lives, especially hers. :badmood: He showed great restraint and handled it well. If he had shot it would have been his word against hers, if she would have had any left. :whistling:

Dang, rambled again, but most of you know I'm a gun right advocate, so read, comment, or ignore as you wish. :D
