I can understand what you mean about the retrieval cord. Its effectively pulling round a bend and will act a bit like a cheese-wire, cutting into the soft tissues if you are not careful. I guess the issue could be how much of a tug it needs to pop it out of the bladder sphincter and then get it past the prostate on the way out. I chatted to Austmo some time ago when he posted the video. Like I say, it was a while ago so I can't remember exactly what he said, but I got the impression he only tried it a couple or so times before removing the cord for good. I've not heard anything lately so no idea how he is getting on with it. Hope this helps.

do you mind me asking how long it is since you removed your catheter, and are you still incontinent? Also what size of catheters did you use, did you use a urine bag on permanant drain or what? Thanks for your comments.

i had a very similar experience. My continence advisor also refered to them as products, pads, all-in-ones. We needed to differentiate between the straight pads and the nappy-type ones with the tapes, so I called them nappy-type pads, and then just nappies and that seems to have stuck now. Its so much simpler!

I would be really interested to hear more about the tests and ewhat happended becuse it looks like I will be facing the same thing soon. Were the tests carried out at a hospital, were there other patients there having the same procedure? What do you wear- I use plastic panties and inco pads- did the nurse or doctor see you in yours? Would like to know exactly what they do and what the tasts mean? Thanks. Rick

If you want to wear a catheter that much I do not see why you don't try it. Just be careful with hygiene, would love to hear how you get on with it over a long term wearing one. I believe that increasing the size may also help induce long term incontinence.
