Question for older ABs - Why Were AB Scenes In Otherwise "Vanilla" 80s Porn?

Okay, so this is a really weird question I have for the older ABs around here (I'm 38 myself - I'm talking AB's who were adults during the 80s or 90s)...

So back in my early teens, there were a bunch of these really old/vintage porn movies dubbed onto a couple VHS tapes I'd steal from my Dad (we didn't have internet access at the time, so back then such material was much harder to see at our age). Now these were fairly mainstream/vanilla movies. Most of the scenes weren't to do with any kind of kink at all... Yet, a couple of these films randomly had adult baby themed scenes part way through.

Most of these movies, I've long since forgotten the names of - But I did eventually manage to track down one of them: "Corporate Assets" from 1985 (the whole thing is up on xhamster for free if you're interested. The scene in question is about 49 minutes in). This is just so weird to me... From what I've read, "Corporate Assets" was/is a fairly well known title, about as mainstream as porn got in '85. Nowadays you'd never see a diaper in normal, mainstream porn - diaper stuff is it's very own, very specific niche. A rather polarizing one at that.. I'm assuming ABs weren't more accepted by the public back then or anything -My only guess is that without the internet, porn would sometimes try to cater to a bunch of kinks all at once to cover as many bases as possible?

Does anyone actually know what's up with this phenomenon? Do you know of other examples of it?
For whatever reason, this whole idea is fascinating to me.

I figured I'd mention why I often think back to those VHS tapes... 
I've been AB/DL since I can remember. Literally my earliest memory is of having an accident and being forced to wear a diaper as punishment, which I'd image plays some role in the whole thing. But yeah, I have memories of stealing baby diapers when i was like 6 and desperately trying to fit into them, or of trying to make my own using a bunch of tissue paper and tape lol - I'm sure the story is similar to many of yours: I wanted to wear diapers my whole life, and it slowly became a sexual thing as i hit puberty

Anyhow, I always felt pretty damn weird about this and pretty much assumed i was the only person in the world who wanted to be put back in diapers. Then I was watching that random, mainstream porn movie, and all the sudden there's a scene where a woman regresses a guy and puts him back in diapers. It goes without saying that the scene made me pretty aroused - but far more importantly, im pretty certain it was the first time i learned that other ABDL people existed. That i wasn't alone. Those particular old movies hold a bit of sentimental value in a way for this reason.

That’s incredible!  ABDL was only invented on Thursday Jan 13, 2005 (a little after lunchtime as I recall).  The only possible explanation for your discovery is that evidence fell through a space-time singularity, survived the consequential spaghetti-fication due to tidal torque from that singularity's gravitational fields in order to be discovered by a VHS-Camcorder-wielding pornographer in 1985 🤣🤣🤣

(I became an adult in the mid 1980s although friends from the time would argue otherwise.)

Obviously the absence of ubiquitous internet made mass-marketing of such niche lifestyles pretty difficult, there was still a reasonable footprint in printed media, mail-order stuff and the emerging “Fidonet” BBS syndication system at the time.  There were also SOME references in mainstream literature.  There's are a few fairly suspicious Stephen King references to it in his books (I have a theory) and of course, John Irving's "The World According To Garp" includes a character who preferentially wears diapers.  I can remember some TV comedy also.

There's loads of 70-something and 80-something aged members here who will know far better.

I suspect ABDL was around plenty-time before that.  I’ve seen one or two hint photos from the 1920s and 1940s.

There’s also some “through the keyhole” evidence from King Edward VIII’s butler that the ex-King liked to be diapered and dominated by Wallis Simpson.

It’s probably been around as long as nappies.  It's just that the evidence gets much harder to find.

I agree though, this history IS interesting.

I think there were a lot of porn producers who just sort of had a vague notion that some people out there were into diapers but didn't really understand what it was all about so they just sort of stuck it in there in the hopes somebody would like it. Nowadays they understand were a particular market with particular tastes and production costs are low enough that they can produce content intended for very specific audiences instead of going all scattershot.

Having run a Fidonet node in the past, including some time as a hub, I don't recall an AB/DL specific echo....  OK, I wasn't looking for it then either....

Now Usenet is another matter....  alt.sex.fetish.diapers existed....Along with its resource list put out by BBIF (which is still around as an e-mail list).

Yep.  Usenet (which I got access to at around 1990) sent things prime-time but I have a some vague recollection of some story with ABDL content that cropped up on a Fidonet BBS somewhere...

ASFD was my first awareness of others being attracted to diapers. My earliest memories all focus on diapers and wanting to be put back into them but it wasn’t until college that I first found the Usenet group. I learned about Tommy’s Diaper Pail Friends printed newsletter. I was a subscriber and we would order photocopied stories from him. DPF predated all of the electronic sources. 

Then people started posting stories for free on Usenet. To this day, I have two favorite stories from ASFD - College Daze (written by a member here) and Psychological Remedies. Sadly neither were finished. And I’m not if they are still available anywhere. 

IRC was my next big discovery and I got heavily involved in talking with people in the #DPF channel. Think the great-grandfather of Discord. I met a lot of people there and to meet a few in real life. There was even a discrete meetup of about 20 people at Disneyland. I still consider a lot of them my friends, even if it has been almost 30 years.

Go watch the movie The Baby from 1973 it is classifed as a horror movie back when it was made. Doesn't change the fact The whole movie is about forced ABDL or the fact it is a main stream movie 🤪😂

Just because you see ABDL doesn't mean it was what was seen when it was filmed 🤗
