It was a satire on "companion" dolls like Patti Playpal and actually led to the creation of Chatty Cathy and Susie Smart, which were both voiced  by June Foray, who did the Talky Tina voice. She did a demo of it at the age of 95+ on WBZ radio after doing a performance

You can actually buy a Talky Tina

I am pretty show that we could have a 36" "companion doll" that both walks on its own and talks conversationally as well as a few other moves

If they need anyone to test a full size Adkult Little Girl dolly. I know someone who would volunteer faster than it would take to wave a magic wand
