The timing of the movie Deliverance was so meticulous and exact for that year. I saw this movie as a 7 year old girl and I was going through a period at school where I wanted out of catholic school. This movie has a double meaning for me. I had written a book report on the abuses of catholic priests on children. I was expelled. The following week when the news hit grand scale it became worldwide news. My parents removed me from catholic school and it was public school for the rest of my days. So yes the domestic abuse that Deliverance portrayed was also done to open peoples eyes. The book Deliverance was banned for school reading back in 72 also. My favorite scene was the river chase.
