I keep hearing so much about leaks that plague side sleepers. I use snap-on panties, yet I have no such problem. If you look at sanp-on panites, you will see that the snaps are at the front

Why not make throw-aways with the joining parts at the front?

The leaks are because the padding doesn't extend out to the wings. Wrapping all the way to the middle won't help any without extended padding.

I have worn disposable, cloth with both snap on and pull on plastic pants, just about every combination possible. And all have eventually leaked.
