Barbara Walters groaned in frustration as one of her car tires had deflated on the way to a very important babysitting job. She had been hired to watch two twin teenage girls by their rich parents. Normally she would have tried to get out of it preferring to watch kids much younger than her but the money was much too good to pass up. Barbara was still nervous though sure the girls would tower over her four feet tall size but was wearing high heels to appear a bit taller.

It had taken a long time to convince the mechanic it was her car even after showing him the license and proving that she really was twenty one. By the time her car was fixed the parents had called to tell her they couldn't wait any longer and had to leave or they would miss their flight. Finally the babysitter had arrived at the enormous house and after fixing her long blonde hair and applying a little more eyeliner to her baby blue eyes she grabbed the bags of equipment. Barbara was very nervous as she readjusted her glasses before ringing the doorbell and waited for someone to come answer it.

The girls waiting for her were each fifteen years old. Maxie, the ringleader of the twins, was making sure the supplies were ready; this was going to be the best prank yet! Usually, getting babysat at this age would be way too embarrassing, but Maxie had a couple ideas to keep the power in their hands. Her more innocent-looking twin sister, Mary, traipsed over to the front door with a yell of, “Coming!” after the doorbell rang. Much to both of their delight, the babysitter was shorter than them even while wearing high-heels! It was too cute that she was trying to look big.

Mary smiled down at Barbara. “Hi! I’m Mary, and this is Maxie! It’s super nice to meet you! Mama says we need to show you the rules around the house, so do you think you can come into the kitchen? She put a list of rules on the table.” She lies through her teeth, knowing full well that the rules are-as a matter of fact-fake, and for this hapless babysitter rather than the two of them. Maxie pretended to be exasperated with her supposedly less-mature twin’s antics, rolling her eyes. “Seriously, Mary? What’re you, five? Don’t be so..annoying.” She scoffed, acting the part of the “typical” teenage girl.

Barbara struggled to carry her bags of babysitting supplies indicating just how weak she was. She had no idea what toys or activities the twins would enjoy so had brought along her normal stuff except for the changing supplies for kids who still needed protection. If she was lucky maybe some of the toys and activities would keep the girls busy and out of trouble for the month she was going to be babysitting them. Barbara was very disappointed to find both Mary and Maxie loomed over her like a pair of giants.

After setting her bags of supplies down she went to go get her suitcase from her car. Though nothing had happened yet the babysitter was starting to get a bad feeling about taking the job. She wasn't sure why the girls would even need a babysitter since they were already teenagers but was certain there had to be a reason. Once Barbara had brought in her suitcase she waited for Mary and Maxie to show her the kitchen so she could read the rules.

Mary tried helping out with her bags, seeing the much smaller female struggling and taking pity on her. She smiled, skipping over to the kitchen after helping out very easily, much taller and stronger than her babysitter. “Just tell me if you need help. I like carrying things!” She declared, giggling. “Okay! Here’re the rules!” With a flourish, Mary handed over the paper that had been left out on the table. Very clearly, it lined out several rules. None of them too unusual, just the typical “bedtime at ten, no soda before bed, don’t let them use their phones before bed or they won’t sleep well enough” type of rules.

Maxie was just anxious to start babying the tiny woman. However, she knew their charge probably wouldn’t take it too well at this point. Besides, it’d be much more fun if they pranked her later. With that in mind, she rolled her eyes, popping a stick of gum into her mouth and cracking it loudly. “Ugh. What does mom think we are, five? Whatever. At least the rules aren’t crazy.” She muttered, pretending to be annoyed.

"Don't worry Mary I'm sure we'll have fun. Oh by the way my name is Barbara" Barbara attempted to cheer Mary up unaware she had accidentally mixed up the twins. She was surprised to find the rules were just normal rules and wondered again why the girls needed a babysitter in the first place. For the amount of money she was being paid she wasn't going to question it and would stick to the rules. Barbara decided to leave her supplies downstairs for now so Mary and Maxie could look through them to see if they found anything she liked.

Unless the twins misbehaved she wouldn't even think of using her rules for younger kids. She was feeling a bit tired so would definitely take a nap once she got her suitcase upstairs and put her stuff away. While she was there she was going to need a better way to keep track of which twin was which or she could get very confused. Barbara waited to see if Mary or Maxie had any questions for her as she got ready to take her stuff upstairs.

Maxie smiled when she mistook her for her more childish sister; this could be fun. Barbara..this petite woman certainly didn’t look like a Barbara, so from now on she’s going to be called something completely different. “Nice to meet you, Barbie. Think you should take a nap now? You look tired.” She told her, keeping her voice chipper. Chuckling, she took the woman by the hand and led her upstairs and into the room, pointing to the bed as though she really was just a child. “C’mon, go take a nap. You’re practically asleep on your feet, and that’s a big no-no!”

Mary, on the other hand, was rummaging around in the fridge. “Maybe we could all go out for dinner later... I’m hungry, and there’s barely anything in here. What a pain.” She complained, rolling her eyes like she’d seen Maxie do so often as she put her hands on her hips.

Barbara groaned as Maxie called her Barbie hating the nickname. She had been called it more than once by relatives and never liked it. Before she could say anything she found the young girl leading her upstairs before instructing her to take a nap. "It's Barbara and I guess a nap does sound good" Barbara told Maxie as she tried to keep control over the situation but went over to the bed anyways.

She had to admit a nap sounded good but didn't like the idea of one of the girls she was supposed to be babysitting ordering her to take one. After getting into bed she soon fell asleep. The fact that her luggage was still downstairs had completely slipped her mind. After a few hours Barbara woke up and headed downstairs to check on Maxie and Mary.

Maxie didn’t say a word and instead watched as the much tinier woman went over to the bed, protesting to being called Barbie. It was so cute, seeing her try keeping control of the situation despite her clear need for sleep. After Barbie-she couldn’t be called something as stuffy and adult as Barbara anymore, in Maxie’s opinion-went asleep, she started downstairs and helped her sister hide the plastic, multi-colored Easter eggs around the house.

After the small woman awoke from her nap, Mary was there to greet her with a chipper, “Good afternoon, sleepyhead! Did you sleep well, Barbie?” The happier twin was excited to get things going.

Barbara let out a a big groan as Mary called her Barbie again. "I told you already it's Barbara not Barbie but yes I did have a good nap" She told the twin her voice letting show how much the nickname upset her. Before she could suggest something to keep the twins occupied her tummy rumbled as she was hungry and ready for some dinner. "Would you two like to go out to eat tonight ?" Barbara asked Mary and Maxie as she wondered if they knew a good restaurant.

Mary chuckled to herself. “I dunno. Barbara’s just so...fuddy-duddy, you know? I like Barbie better. Not that you look much like a barbie..besides the blond hair.” She muttered, smiling a bit wider. Clearly, the nickname was going to stick.

Maxie nodded, seeing this as the perfect opportunity to implement their plan. “Yes, actually! There’s a nice place just a few blocks down the road from here. We always go there.” They always went there as kids, because there were children’s menus and lower prices for people accompanied by children. Barbie didn’t need to know that she’d be the child.

Barbara sighed in frustration before telling Mary and Maxie one more time "It's Barbara not Barbie ! Now what's the name of this restaurant ?" She hoped the restaurant wouldn't be too expensive as the car service had put quite a dent in her current funds. Since the neighborhood was a bit more fancy than where the babysitter usually watched kids she wasn't familiar with the dining places in the area. Barbara waited for Mary or Maxie to answer her question and hoped they dropped the humiliating nickname quickly.
