How do I post a status?

The title says it all, I didn't know statuses were a thing until just now, how do I post one? I can't find it anywhere.

It should be the first thing you see when you click on your profile

The thing that says write a public message on your own feed.

That's weird. I see it on other people's feed, but not my own. I even tried using a different browser with no addons and that doesn't work either. Maybe there's a setting I accidentally clicked?

EDIT: It was exactly that, there's a setting in the profile edit settings. I must've turned it off awhile ago and forgot all about it!
