I'm the same as you OP. When diapered, I just go and do it (while awake, at night I always retain control).

Occasionally, I have to pause before going, just to remind myself whether I am diapered or not! 100% success rate so far!

I've been wearing diapers for fun for about seven years. At first I retained my 100% continence, which I maintained for decades after I quit wetting the bed as a young adult.

I think that by now my mind and body knows the difference between being padded and not being padded. I find it really easy to just let go when diapered, but when the diaper comes off, I switch gears and go back to using the bathroom like normal.
