It was barely 20 yards to where I needed to be for my appointment, only a third of the dstance from my flat to his car, but clearly he no longer wanted to carry me. I wondered if him not wanting to carry me was purely because the hospital wouldn't have liked it, and because the wheelchairs were right there. Or if he was worried about getting turned on again.
