It didn't surprise him that the little girl didn't understand what he was doing, but he continued anyway, hoping she would get it soon enough.

Faith just stared at the book in confusion. She didn't understand any of what he was saying, or why he was talking about these people.

She was indeed dry when Tom checked her, having emptied her bladder during her earlier accident. She nodded, and even smiled a tiny bit. She was obviously starting to grow fond of Tom. She let herself be dressed, and even admired the embroidered flower with ear fingers, feeling over every stitch. She smiled shyly up at him.

"Okay Mister." She said. She really didn't know what else to call him other than mister, so that's what she would for now.

Faint once again did her best to keep up with Tom, but was lagging behind, practically running to keep up. She stared out the window as he drove. She'd never seen a park before, so she didn't know what to think when she saw one.

Looking at the giant play structure Tom pointed to, she turned around and looked up at him unsure of what to do. She didn't know how to play, let alone with Kidd her own age.

Tom took her by the hand and led her towards the playground things. He decided the simplest thing, was a slide.

Faith looked a little scared being led up to the small slide. It may not have been high up, but it was new and scary to her. She sat down as instructed, but was holding on tight to Tom, looking afraid.

She held onto Tom's arms tight as she slid down, it may have been slow, but it was scary to her. She held onto him our of natural instinct when he picked her up afterwards. She was shaking a little, seeming more scared than before. "O-Okay Mister."

Seeing how scared she was of the slide, Tom decided to take her to the swings, where he put her in his lap and lazily rocked the swing back and forth just a little from the tips of his toes to the backs of his heels.

Faith held onto the chains of the swing, liking the slow rocking movement. It seemed to calm her down, and relax her a little. She leaned back a little, so her back was laying on Tom's chest as he swung. She wasn't really how to have fun honestly. She'd never gotten a chance to, it was like she never even smiled before.

"Okay Mister." She responded. "I'm sorry I'm not having fun, Mister. I've never had fun before."

Ralph knew there was no way to really let her understand having fun except by experience, but he did whisper to her two rules:

Faith listened closely to the rules, and did her best to understand them. She didn't really understand what they meant though. She was doing her best, but things were still confusing to her.

Her pale cheeks turned a light shade of pink when he mentioned wetting her pants. She normally didn't do that, well except for at night time.

She took a few minutes to take in everything Tom said, but still struggled to grasp everything. She shook her head a little, and moved around so she was curled up on his lap with her head on his chest. She was clearly starting to grow attached to this nice man. He did things that Mommy never did. He was different, and she hadn't gotten in trouble yet, and that made her happy.

Faith looked up at Tom when he mentioned wanting lunch. Looking at her, it was clear to see that she wanted to eat, but was unsure of what to say. She stayed silent, thinking it was better to not eat than get in trouble for being greedy.

Faith couldn't really say anything when Tom said they were going to eat. She was happy though, even if she didn't know what being happy was, that she was getting to eat.

She stared out the window as usual again, which ultimately led to her throwing up all over herself in the backseat from carsickness. The giant meal she enjoyed earlier that day, was now all over her shortalls, and Tom's carseats.

Faith was almost sobbing by the time they had arrived at the restaurant. She was scared out of her mind right now. Whenever she had gotten sick at home, Mommy made her sit in the closet all night.

Tom shrugged off what the other people were doing, and focused his attention on Faith and no one else.

"Honey, you are not in any trouble at all.

Faith whimpered and tried to stop crying. She was shaking like a leaf. She didn't understand half of what he was saying, being too upset to.4

She was so small. Only six years old, and having experienced things that even some criminals would cringe at.

With a great heavy sigh, Tom pulled down her pants again, rocking her as he did so, and he turned them right and dressed her as if she was a toddler, nearly holding her in his lap as he helped bet the jeans on her and then a blouse and sweater.

"There you are, sweetie," he said to her.

Faith nodded when Tom spoke to her.

The more he rocked her, the more she seemed to calm down. Eventually, she was just sniffling a tiny bit.

"I try to believe you, Mister." She said as he prepared to take her out to the restaurant, her voice sounding like that of a toddler for a moment.

Faith relaxed as Tom carried her and stroked her hair, but she started whimpering when he would bounce her. She wNted to tell him that it was hurting her, but she was too scared.

When Faith whimpered a little, Tom picked her up, turned her to face him, and then he pulled her into him sitting her backwards on his lap so that she was facing him, and he hugged her gently.

Faith looked down at her lap when Tom asked her what was wrong. Her face told him she was in pain, but she as too scared to tell him herself. She just shook her head, and mentally chastised herself for making a sound.
