ok I wasn't really sure where to post this but since it's about diapers I thought I would ask here.

I am not so sure how to explain this but I will do my best. Let me start off at the beginning first and then I will get to my question.

A while ago I had gotten sick from a bad cold I got from a friend of mine and we were both really sick for a while. I was coughing so much that I would wet myself a lot so I had to wear diapers. Well turned out my friend had this to happen to her too. Only thing is she is not a DL/AB/or LG and she had to have something to wear too but she was too big for any of the disposable/protective underwear. She ended up having to use pads, but the thing is, I beleive that it weakened her bladder and she continues to wear pads but they are not enough.

I brought it up in conversation that when I got sick I had to wear diapers and then she had said she could not find any in her size... then later she said she was using what she could in case she coughed and wet herself but I haven't talked to her about it.

My question is this... do you think I should bring it up in conversation again and if she mentions having a weak bladder, should I offer to make her an adult cloth diaper? What do you think? I think she should have something better than what she uses now. I really don't want to go into details on what she uses but I feel sorry for her. What should I do?

If she wants you to make her a diaper then i think she will ask, but dont just make it that could make her feel worse about the situation.

Well a part of me thinks she does it because she likes wetting herself. she can be very lazy and I'm not saying anyone else is but I have known her for years so I know her really well. She was already asked before by another friend, why was she using cloth instead. She said it was because she couldn't help it because she has had kids before but even before she got sick she would go to the bathroom to do it and I think that since getting sick she has started to like it.

Well if she asks then I will but if not I won't ask... thanks for the advice!

my only concern is the fact she is "too lazy" to use the restroom... perhaps being a good friend is not encouraging this.... but helping her ... not be so lazy and take a better interest in her personal hygene?

its all find and good to 'joke' about being to lazy to use hte bathroom... but when one is TRUELY just too 'lazy' to use the toilet.... often they have gotten to a point in life where all personal hygene has become to much of a bother for them..... indicative of a potentially more severe mindset....

just a thought...

otherwise... they make x large disposable diapers as mentioned those might fit...

You may want to let her know of "barometric" diapers that she could order online. Those are for the xxl and about above crowd. I certainly feel sad for her if she has let herself get that big, that means she has some major emotional problems. Then it is just a vicious cycle as being that big just makes one that much more have no self esteem, along with having not much self esteem to begin with allowing themselves to get that big.

Um, I think you mean "bariatric" diapers, Ashlee.

As her friend, you have the best read on what she might want. Since you make clothes for her already, you could put an open offer out there that you are willing and able to make her ANYTHING that she wants. As the others have said, don't directly offer to make her a diaper, but make the path clear for that.

When is your site going to be open? I'm anxious to see your work and creativity!

Aloha,

Honu

Too many people are playing shrink who have no clue. The minute someon starts tossing around "self-esteeem" My B.S-o-meter goes inot the ultraviolaet. that is the latest psychobabble du jour. The best ting I ever read on that matter was Branden's PSYCHOLOGY OF SELF-ESTEEM from 4p years ago. Besides which, one can NOT do these kinds of diagnoses without a face-to-face Beyond that self-esteem is a consequence, not a primary

Next, if you are willing to "make ANYTHING she wants" that asks whether or not you are willing to be an enabler, in this case, of the percieved laziness. That would just lead her down the garden parth further.

Now what to do. Have her go in for a thorough physical to find the cause of both the "weak bladder" and the fatsies and PUT TEETH IN IT; that is have some consequences to the failure to do this and do all you can as a frend to facilitate this. If there is no physical cause then it is time to see a Behavior Modification specialist (if you have 3 working brain cells, you will already know the problem: bad habits so you do not need the airy-fairy stuff you get from the "coucelling" rackeeers). Ditch the idea of the B-Mod folks sitting around with cattle prods and shock collars. Most forms of the treatments are reward-based. This kind of treatemnt was originally developed to cure phobias that have no physiological origins. Later it spread to just changing undesireable habits and finally to treat psycho-somatic disorders (real physical disorders the roots of which are psychological; some ulcers, migraines and cardiac problems that occur in patients that do not have genetic or family history indicators for them)

Oh, and by the way, just watch what success at this does for self-esteem; the real self-esteem, not the stuff you get in junkpsyche
