Where To Buy Fur Suits?

Dubious

Recommended Posts

My sewing skills aren't quite that ambitious, but I've been making some of my own clothes and involved in cosplay for a while. I've made a few sets of ears and I've done hundreds of drawings of anthropomorphic animals, so I have some idea of how to go about it if there's a demand.

Here's a few of the most popular ones.

Fursuits by Lacy - http://lacy.timduru.org/

Mixed Candy (Latin Vixen) - http://latinvixen.phpwebhosting.com/

One Fur All Studios (Scribblefox) - http://www.onefurall.com

Don't Hug Cacti (Lucky Coyote) - http://www.donthugcacti.com/

I hope that gets you started. You might also want to keep an eye and ear out for new or lesser known fursuit makers. They'll likely be cheaper.

Might be better to ask on a furry forum. From what I've seen with my brief brushes with the furry fandom, theres loads of different companies. Furaffinity or simular would be a better place to ask :P

Lucky for you guys, I know some of the best fursuit makers personally. Also, Lacy has a profile on RUPadded under "Fursuiting". She also made my former roommate's raccoon suit. His name is Aiden Raccoon (http://lacy.timduru.org/gallery.php?a=folder&id=76) and darn. She doesn't have the old pics anymore of the full suit. He does have a full suit, the new head, paws, and feet were made to match the older suit...which it does say there.

I was lucky enough to have a good friend that decided she would take a stab at making two suits -- one for her and one for me. They turned out awesome. My point here is that a lot of people make their own suits and find out that they have more talent than they would think at something like that. Even with good fur, you would only have about $400 in materials, so that is the best way to go if you are willing to try.

Otherwise the places mentioned above get up to $2000 pretty quickly, and have several months wait time usually.

I also just want to mention this -- I've seen a lot of furries who think they can shop from the gallery on a fursuit maker's website and pick one and go with it...however, it doesn't work that way. A fursuit maker will never duplicate someone else's suit. They expect you to send them good concept art (which can cost another $75 - $100), and then they build a suit based on that.

Anyway, those are my pointers for anyone considering getting a suit -- it is TONS of fun :D
