I Wanna Know How To Make A Cloth Diaper...

Recommended Posts

There are patterns out there available...just google. If you find a baby size and need to scale it up, that shouldn't be too hard.

If you are interested in just rectangular diapers, I've made many myself (and believe me, I'm not talented!). There is somewhere out there some guidelines for sizing yourself - again, just do a google search.

I just went to Walmart and found their diaper flannel. I found that the width of the bolt of material was just right for me - luck on my part! Decide how many 'ply' you want...I think I made mine triple thick, so I got about 3 yards for each diaper - a lot less expensive than ready made! I just did a seam on three sides. Then I folded it inside out, folded in the last side and made a seam across that. Just straight stitching all the way - it doesn't take a fancy machine or much skill either. They've held up very well.

Good luck and tell us how you make out with your attempts!

hey everyone...i wanna know how to make a cloth diaper, because disposables every other week is getting pretty expensive. and i dont have enough to buy cloth cuz they're very expensive so anyone please tell me how to make some? thanx

This is what I used to do, before I got hooked up with sources on the net. Any fabric store, or even your local Wal-Mart, has bolts of flannel fabric in pastel baby colors or patterns. Pick out the one you like. Just make sure they cut it large enough so you can fold and triple the size down to where you have three layers of fabric. It's relatively inexpensive this way and should fit the bill. However, if you are a regular wearer, you'll find they tear up pretty easy after a few months. As compared to the commercially manufactured cloth diapers available, which can last several years. Depending on how you launder them, of course.

I purchase my gauze diapers from Theresa at Granitesmith's Diaper Store on ebay. She will normally give you a good deal when several dozen diapers are purchased. I have developed a technique where eight diapers are sewn together to make a custom fit adult prefold. They actually resemble an adult 4 x 8 x 4 prefold when completed Two or three Gerber baby prefold diapers can be added when additional absorbancy is required during the day or night. The gauze cloth is extremely comfortable and last up to two years with continued use.

Depending on your waist size, you might be able to wear these 21" x 40" diapers without any modifications. Just lay several together based upon how much absorbancy you require and pin them on.

I hope this information is helpful.

My wife made some for me.

Later we found out that we could buy them for less than what it cost to make them.
