  1. So interesting. Seems I am the only one thinking the other way. This is how I see it happening. Stranger (speaking discretely and not shouting across the piazza): Um, excuse me, the seat of your pants is wet. Just wanted to let you know. Me: Thank you. I appreciate the thought. Vive la difference!
  2. I am incontinent because of a surfing injury and wear a diaper 24/7. I am lawyer in a large European firm. Most of my colleagues know about my accident and the incontinence. Last week, my team was on a retreat in the rural countryside, staying in a fantastic hotel in the Alps. I bumped into a colleague on the way to dinner one night and asked her to join me. She declined, without giving reason, and so we went our separate ways. I then saw her in the diningroom eating by herself. I commented on this rather odd situation to another colleague the next day. He said: "Oh, she told me about that. She said she would never eat a meal with anyone in a diaper because it's unsanitary, unhygienic and she doesn't want to catch something." All of this woman's ignorance aside, has anyone had this kind of experience? The stigma of adults in diapers still exists, I know, but this really surprised me. I mean, I don't care what this woman thinks and am just sharing this to see if it's happened to anyone else.
  3. I was running some errands last Saturday (I am American but live in Europe), walking back from the bazaar when I noticed a guy in front of me walking his dog. He was wearing light colored short pants and there were two unmistakable wet spots on the back, just under the butt circles. He didn't look like he was wearing a diaper (his t-shirt was short and there was no noticable bulk) but the wet spots were there and looked just like what happens when your diaper leaks from the leg openings. I walked behind him for about 5 minutes until he turned off. The whole time I debated what to do. Run up and tell him, discretely, his diaper had leaked. Or risk offending a stranger who wasn't wearing a diaper? Or mind your own business, man? Then I was thinking to myself: If I were the guy with the wet spots, would I want someone to come up and tell me? I think I would. What would you have done? Just curious to see what other diaper wearers think.
  4. So, as it was explained to me, any moisture of any kind shows up in green on the scanner's monitor. Green means the person is flagged for a further check. This is also why they always ask me to take off my shoes for a check (very sweaty feet). The last few times I've passed through the scanner and then the manual check, the agents are more interested in the backside of the diaper than the front (no idea why) and use that swabbing device contraption a lot on the back of the diaper, even going inside to swab around the top of the diaper. They always tell me they are going to do this. I always say it's fine. Of course, nothing ever happens after this because it's just a diaper... but rules are rules, I know. No agent has ever made a comment about my diaper but I do hear "Wash your feet, son" from time to time. Anyway, just sharing...
  5. Oops... really had no idea. Thank you for the information!
  6. Interesting observations, guys, thank you. I ordered already and I see a tracking number so will look forward.
  7. I think diaper wearers spot other diaper wearers automatically or, at least, more easily. I see people all the time who are obviously (to me, anyway) in a diaper. I think it's the same with other things. I wear a beard, for example, and I always notice other guys' beards.
  8. Thank you for the input and the photos! Just ordered a pair on Amazon and will test them out.
  9. Sorry for the seeming ignorance, but what, exactly, is a personal care pad? I was shopping for boosters, as it was time to top up the supply, and saw Tranquility brand personal care pads. They look like a booster, with more of an hour glass shape, but there is little description, no questions and no reviews. Do you they have a plastic backing or would function like a booster? The price is comparable but the size is bigger and so I am thinking better for the life expectancy of the diaper. Will be grateful for your input.
  10. Looking to replace and upgrade my diaper covers. I see a lot of Haian items on Amazon. Does anyone have any experience with this brand? You read the reviews but one person says yes, the next person says no... Grateful for the input!
  11. Nope. No underwear on top of the diaper. I mean, the diaper IS the underwear so why wear two pairs? As for some of the comments about using underwear to hide the diaper or minimize the noise, I don't find that necessary. I change at the gym and at my weekly basketball games with the diaper in full sight as I am getting in or out of my clothes but I don't think anybody really cares. BetterDrys are quite noisy but I am not bothered. Again, these are all personal choices, right? Everyone deals with their stuff in their own way. The fact that we still even discuss these issues means that there is still a long way to go towards incontinence becoming a normal part of life for a huge (and growing) segment of the population. Oh, and with the money I save from not buying undies, I take trips to the Greek islands instead
  12. I think it is a personal choice. If you want to disclose, do so. If not, then don't. Everyone in my life - family, friends, work colleagues, my basketball team - knows that I wear diapers for a sports related injury but I didn't go out and make a point of informing everyone. Of course, my family knew because my injury was quite bad. Surf board right to the abdomen. Friends simply were informed or found out. No one flipped or freaked. When you play basketball with my guys, butt slaps are a big part of the team spirit so they found out instantly. As I always say, I don't run around advertising that I wear diapers but I also don't hide it, either. It is simply a fact of life for me. I only do one diaper change midday - if that - so time from the job for diaper related issues is not relevant. Smokers and their 75 smoke breaks during a work day are using more work time than anyone taking care of their incontinence issues. But that is another story. I am a lawyer for a high-profile firm. No one at the office cares about anyone's underwear. Everyone's got better things to do, right?
  13. Unfortunately, there is a stigma connected to adult diapers. So stupid... but it is a reality. That said, I think the situation is changing slowly. For example, lots of ads about adult diapers. My Men's Health magazine this month had at least 2 as I recall. As for the reactions from others, we just have to consider where it is coming from. Ignorance, immaturity, lack of empathy - it makes people behave like that. I don't flaunt that I am wearing a diaper but I don't hide it, either. I mean, it is what it is. If it sticks out of the top of my pants sometimes, who cares? If someone asks? I answer honestly. I was on the airplane recently and my untucked shirt rode up in the back when I was sitting in my seat. My diaper was exposed. I noticed the guy across the aisle from me was staring, then whispering something to his seatmate. Then laughing. I thought to myself "Total idiot." I never bothered to pull down my shirt. I mean, if someone's underwear is THAT entertaining for someone, then that is a life I would not want to have! My advice for you in dealing with the stigma is to try to let it go without getting upset or frustrated. The stupid reactions from others don't deserve our time or attention. Good luck!
  14. I use three diapers in 24 hours. I change in the morning after I get back from the gym (Better Dry with NorthShore booster), I change again around 3 in the afternoon and I change for the last time mid-evening, after getting home. Sometimes, the afternoon change is the booster only. Depends on the kind of day I am having.
