"Do you want to maybe just play by yourself in your playpen for a bit Maddie? The rain stopped while you were napping. I was thinking about surprising you and us both going on a walk down the block to maybe get some ice cream?"
-
"Alright, we can stay up. Let's go sit on the couch until your tummy calms down though. If you get sick I don't think you want us to have to take down the fort to clean it all up. Rachel held Maddie on her hip and carried her into the living room. The poor baby looked so out of it, like any relief she may have gotten from her nap just got sucked out of her from her nightmare. Before she let she made sure she attached Maddie's pacifier to it's dinosaur clip and fixed it to her new kitty sleeper. She sat down on the couch and cradled Maddie in her arms, pressing a button on her phone to begin some calming music before beginning to nurse the little one on her new water bottle. "Don't worry, the music won't make you act any littler than you want to be, it's just going to calm you down a bit. We'll get you hydrated before we decide if we want to watch another movie or do something a little quieter. Maybe once we put back in all that water you cried out your head will feel better."

"See? We're already helping each other out! You're hosting me for a few months and I get you free chocolate when we go out. It's a great little grift we have going." Brie shook her head at the difficulty May was expressing. "I dunno May, that seems like a you problem, these crayons are working out for me ever so nicely." Brie teased back. "Did you go to school for art? You never told me what it is you do?" Brie asked. "I'm OK. Thank you!" Brie continued her little kid act, before grinning conspiratorially at May and mouthing the word, 'mommy' and giggling as the waitress walked away.
-
"Alright baby, lets get some water in your tummy." Rachel carried Maddie downstairs and, rather than a sippy cup, made her a bottle of water. "Are you feeling sick, do you want to stay up or does Mommy need to tuck you in and just let you rest? Do you think any food might help?"
-
Brie got the pink crayon as fast as she could, really enjoying the game the two were playing with the waitress. "Hey, are you going to turn down free desert? If that pizza was what I have to look forward to with portion sizes, I'm gonna need help." "Thank you!" Brie gushed to the waitress.

"Of course honey, let me see what I can find for you. Maybe just some light shorts if I can't find anything?" Rachel shifted Maddie to her hip and got out of the chair and walked to the closet. "Alright, so...I have this," she showed Maddie a white footed sleeper with aqua piping and kitten designs. "This should be pretty cool on you. Rachel also found some light yellow cotton shorts, "I've got these too if you think those jammies will be too warm?" She helped Maddie into the clothing that they chose. "Oh no baby, I hope you aren't feeling physically yucky. Lets get something in you, do you want water, juice, or milk? Which do you think your tummy would like better?"

I did something kinda similar a few months ago! I aged it up a bit because I was dabbling in middle play at the time, but I was coming off a major depressive episode where I sort of stopped doing, well, just everything for myself. It strained my relationship with my Daddy because I wasn't able to see him as much and when I did, I was in such a bad headspace that 'playing' was impossible for me. So we made a kids 'chore list' so to speak. It included cleaning up after myself, eating regularly, taking showers, staying hydrated, taking my meds, and wearing 'night time panties' (Always Discreet or Goodnites) to bed. It did help my headspace quite a bit having Daddy step in and treat me like a kid who still needed to be told what to do, but was also expected to function and do it on her own rather than have it done for her. So I got to gameify self care a bit, use that to bond with Daddy, and worked in the treat of wearing and using my pull-ups and feeling like a big little girl as I managed to start fending for myself again.

Rachel didn't want to drop the matter since it was clearly bothering Maddie, but it was upsetting the poor girl so much it would be better to table it for now and maybe talk later. "OK baby, you don't have to right now. Mommy is glad you shared that with her though, it couldn't have been easy. I know I mentioned it earlier but I want you to think about talking to someone, even if it is just Brie or my sister Renee. Brie's in therapy and Renee is her therapist. I don't imagine Brie's had the easiest time of things with family and Renee trained in helping littles and people from your dimension. You don't have to, I just want you to think about it." Rachel rocked Maddie for a bit even after she calmed down. Maddie had been pretty emotional but a visual check of the front of her diaper looked clean enough. She stuck two fingers into the leg guard. Maddie was a little wet but still not too bad. Unless she asked for a change Rachel would probably wait for her to use it a bit more. "Do you want to go back down to the fort again baby? Oh, I forgot to tell you with everything that was going on. I washed your overalls sweetie. We can get you back into them, change you into something else, or we can just watch movies together in your little shirt and diaper. Your call. It's still Maddie's day today."
-
"I can absolutely see that!" Brie remarked, picturing May as a kid the image certainly fit. Brie certainly gave coloring a hard consideration, "maybe I should, I don't know. We could both work on it together?" When the waitress returned, Brie was a bit surprised that she was being given the chance to order on her own. At first she thought to ask for a regular glass, but Brie had only bought a few glasses in her size, plus, she was playing along with things at least while the waitress was nearby. "I believe, I will require a sippy cup and orange juice please, oh, and the chicken fingers. All of the sauces if you don't mind." Brie ditched her normal speaking tone and inflection to adopt something of a put on, what she imagined a little trying to act like an adult would sound like. When the waitress left, Brie burst out laughing and explained to May, "OK, that was fun. Plus, if where you're from is like where I'm from they don't wash and reuse kids cups, they give them out. So I probably just got you a free new cup. Once I leave, I'm sure you can use it for Maddie too!"
-
"Oh yeah, sure, OK." Brie laughed as soon as the waitress left. "Hey, I bet you ordered off princess menus to, let a girl have it this once." It was silly but it was also incredibly girly and that triggered something for Brie. Maybe a cis little would find such obvious, patronizing girly options offensive or offputting put being offered a 'princess' menu was literally a brand new feeling for Brie. It was a strange but similar feeling. Almost like the first time a waitress had called her 'Miss' and she knew they weren't just wrangling for a higher tip. It felt like 'passing' as a girl rather than as a woman and it was a funny, exciting feeling. She hadn't had a new, female 'first' in a long time. After long enough the unusual firsts of a transition become routine. "You know, I heard good things about the chicken fingers. I think those could be good."

"Your dad being mad at you scared you that much?" Rachel asked with deep concern. Her suspicion that Maddie may have been hurt long before she got here continued to rise. Poor little girl, a lot of things were starting to make sense of Maddie had been abused. Her gentle, motherly concern suppressed the rage she felt. 'Who could hurt this beautiful child?' she wondered. Maddie was so tiny and precious, that anyone would think to harm her...it made Rachel more upset the more she thought about it. "What was he mad about baby? You can tell me, I promise you I won't get mad."
-
"It's OK Maddie, it's my job to worry about you. I signed up for it when I brought you home." Rachel continued to rock and felt the girl's body ease into her own, her muscles dropping their tension and gradually relaxing. "Have you had it since you've been here? I haven't seen you that upset ever baby. Can you tell me what's gotten you afraid and I'll see if there's something I can do to help you? If I can't, I'll find someone who can. I don't want to see you like that again if we can help it kiddo."
-
"Oh cool, so it'll be new for both of us. You know, that sounds basic but it also sounds pretty delicious." The restaurant was pretty similar to a family restaurant back home but like everything else here, there seemed to be a quality difference that placed it at least a rung above what she might hope to find back home at your typical 'American-Food' restaurant. It was comforting and at once hospitable without being over the top. She was glad it lacked the ubiquitous 'stuff on the walls' motif of some places back home, but knowing how seriously these people took things, that stuff might actually be interesting. What really interested her were the other littles and the big amazon kids. The littles appeared to run the gambit from younger than her actually to much older and their ages ranged from 'younger' than Maddie to just below school age. Brie imagined that's probably what people thought of her as, despite her height. Some of the older amazons had littles that didn't look particularly pleased with their situation but with the younger familes, their littles seemed almost as naturally kid like as the big amazon and mid kids they played with. The older amazons also seemed to be just them and their little or littles, but beside May, most of the younger ones with littles seemed like part of a family. Brie let herself get boosted up. She was watching the kids when the mid teen waitress came up. Brie knew from the moment she spoke to her that this woman had to have assumed she was a regressed little. She thought she might be embarrassing but it wasn't in the slightest. If anything it was a little exciting. "Princesses pwease." she asked and made sure to wink at May.

"Maddie, I don't think that was just a 'stupid' nightmare. Was it the scary movie that did it? You're shaking still baby, I think that was a full on night terror. Do you need to talk about it?" Rachel continued to hold her girl, cradling her gently. "You scared me baby, I thought you were hurt at first 'cause I don't think I've ever heard you cry. I don't think it's your body that's hurting though, is it Maddie?"
-
"Thanks, I might need to use one of those before we eat," Brie let May help her out and followed her into the restaurant. She hadn't really gotten to walk around much in a wet pull-up before. Last night she'd been so out of her mind in fear to really think about it and she'd been hanging out with Maddie in the playpen yesterday, so she was more on her knees that anything. It certainly felt strange. The thickness of the underwear was readily apparent as it had swollen up quiet a bit. Brie wasn't entirely convinced she'd only peed a little despite what May said. She knew how full her bladder was getting before she took her nap and how full it wasn't now, as well as how thick her pull-up had gotten between her thighs. Brie agreed to give using the toilet a chance before eating. It probably wouldn't be worth the effort, but why not. True enough, after a few minutes trying to make something happen, nothing was. Maybe she could try again before they left? May really didn't like cleaning her toilet after she pooped earlier so in quite the reverse from the normal, she wanted to try to go in public when she could. The scent and the music were nice, but Brie kept in mind the suggestive power that May warned her about. Still, this clearly wasn't made for babies, so maybe like the mall it was just made to help people calm down and relax. After a few minutes with no luck, she removed her shoes and shorts and then her pull-up as well. She asked for a got a fresh pull-up and stepped into it. Good as new into the softest, cutest, comfiest, and coincidentally most absorbent underwear she'd ever worn. "No luck but I can try again later." Brie informed May while the big helped her wash her hands. "What do you like hear? What do you recommend?" she asked as they prepared to leave the bathroom

She intensity of Maddie's reaction scared Rachel, she'd never seen her daughter this emotional. It was almost like this was a completely different little girl. But from the way she felt in her arms, Rachel knew this was her Maddie, her baby. She carried Maddie over to the rocking chair and began to gently rock back in forth, hoping that the sway of the chair and the pacifier might get her to still her breathing. It seemed to be working, Maddie's tears didn't stop but her panic did. Rachel saw Maddie squeezing herself and didn't reprimand her daughter, instead she moved her fingers in between so Maddie was squeeze her and not herself. She sang gently, fragments of a lullaby. "What are you sorry about precious?" The poor baby looked smaller and more helpless than she ever had and all Rachel wanted to do was hold her tight and make the fear go away.
-
"What, oh hey," Brie groggily came back to the land of the living, "are we here?" Brie had no idea how long she'd gotten to sleep but she was still a bit drowsy. The feeling hit her as soon as May asked her about using the bathroom. The inside of her pull-up was lightly wet and quite warm. She shifted a bit, yup. Brie shook her head, "Well, kinda. I needed to go before we left the store but there weren't little bathrooms there. Now I, well, I might need a new pull-up if you have one?" Brie asked, blushing as she did. This wasn't 100% confirmation for her, but after last night, she imagined that among the physical changes that had happened to her, one of them was that she was probably a bed wetter again. It wasn't too surprising, she had been until she was 7 back home. It was a bit annoying, but at least she'd found out that training panties in this world were so great before she found out she was wetting the bed again. She couldn't imagine she'd take incredibly kindly to the idea if it came out of the blue without knowing that. "When you get me out, could you check the back of my shorts too please?"

Rachel had been enjoying a nice hour to herself, just doing the daily chores that needed to be done to keep the house looking nice. Thankfully Maddie must have wet her diaper pretty recently because the stain hadn't set. A quick wash in the sink and a tumble through the dryer and she'd be all set to keep playing in her overalls. Maddie usually was quiet during her naps, whether that was because she was sleeping or just being silent when waiting for Rachel to come get her. Still, Rachel always had Maddie's baby monitor just in case. Today was the first 'just in case.' At first it sounded like some soft whimpering, maybe Maddie having a nightmare? It turned into full on crying though and Rachel snapped to attention and bolted for the steps, practically vaulting over the little gate and thundering into the room. She burst into the door, fearing that Maddie was hurt somehow and was surprised to see her girl, sitting in her crib and sobbing. She hadn't fallen and she didn't appear to be hurt. As soon as it registered this wasn't physical, what ever it was, Rachel swooped in and pulled Maddie tightly to her. "Maddie baby, what's wrong?" While Maddie struggled to get the words out, Rachel found her pacifier and stuck it in Maddie's mouth, letting the rhythmic sucking calm her baby down while she rocked her, kissed her head, and 'sushed' her, trying to get her baby's crying under control. Rachel didn't know if this was good of bad and it gnawed on her, but at least unlike with a real baby or a fully regressed little, when Maddie calmed down she could tell her. Did the scary movie give her a nightmare? Maybe something they talked about? Gas? She checked Maddies diaper, just a little bit of peepee, poor girl got most of it out before bed but probably leaked a bit from crying. Rachel held her girl tightly until her cries subsided.

"I think I'm ready for lunch, I might see if I can fall asleep in the car. If not I think I can rest when I get home." Brie's stifled yawn probably didn't lend her statement much confidence. "Yeah, I think that would be OK." Brie thought back to last night and while what happened was still uncomfortable and awkward to think about, being invited out to do things meant Rachel and Maddie still wanted to see her. It was a contrast. She didn't think about her brother much because he'd reacted so poorly to the transition. She'd heard his girlfriend was pregnant but he was still freezing her out. 'Not wanting someone like her around the baby'. It really hurt but Brie had to manage. On some level she must have been afraid that Rachel would have told her she couldn't be around Maddie anymore. Not that their relationship was especially tight, just the shame of being banned was too painful. Between sad thoughts, the sugar crash, and her growing tiredness, Brie was calming down. She let herself get strapped into her seat by May with a smile and a thank you and closed her eyes as May loaded the car. Brie was asleep before May got in.

"They used to, some people probably still do unfortunately, but the numbers go down every year. Their populations got pretty low a few decades ago, but they're back where they were before the planet industrialized. I'm pretty sure it's been illegal to have ivory as long as I've been alive, and thanks to laws, reintroduction, and artificial meat I hadn't heard anything about killing sharks in a long time. When a not insignificant part of the population are effectively little children forever, it means a lot of people here anything bad that happens is going to be their problem but they won't be able to fix it. I don't know a lot about your world, but from what I do know, we take taking care of the vulnerable a lot more seriously here." Rachel opined. It seemed funny talking about such big topics with such a little person, but Maddie was a special little. "We can stay as long as we need to honey. I think you'll probably still need a nap but for both our sake I was going to bring your stroller tomorrow. No need to leave if we can just park somewhere and let you get some rest. You might end up having to share it, I think May is having Brie take naps because of the time difference here so she might end up needing to borrow your stroller to sleep in. That shouldn't be a problem should it? It'll just give you some walking time and if you little legs get tired I can carry you." When the documentary ended, Rachel ambled out of the fort and stretched a bit. "OK little one, you've begged it off long enough. It's time for a certain baby girl's nap time. Come on, lets get you ready." Rachel walked Maddie to the gate and hoisted her up to go when she felt the seat of Maddie's diapers feel a little squishy and damp. "Oh baby, what a good girl. Using your diaper without a fuss, I'm so proud of you. You leaked a bit on your overalls though. Don't worry about that, Mommy will take care of those." Upstairs Rachel unbuckled Maddie from her overalls and sat her on the table. The little girl had peed quite a bit but hopefully that would mean she'd wake up dry. "OK sweetheart, legs up." Rachel wiped and cleaned her baby before deciding to 'chance it' and taping her into a fresh new day time diaper. She gently lowered Maddie into the crib and kissed her on the forehead, "see you soon", before shutting off the light and going to start washing Maddie's little overalls to get the stain out and hopefully give them enough time to dry so she could put Maddie back in them when she woke up.
-
"Good choice, getting ready for tomorrow huh?" Rachel chuckled, "well, at least you'll have animal dreams and not scary ones. We do actually. It turns out they are most similar to Indian elephants so we used them to bring them back. So our mammoths are actually a touch smaller than the ones from Africa, but they look just as big with all the fur." She brushed Maddie's hair and pulled her close, "Oh, it's OK Maddie. Thank you for apologizing but you don't need to. I know it's probably a complicated topic for you. If you ever do want to talk about it we can but I won't push you. I don't know what kind of life you had back there, but as long as I have anything to say about it, we're going to do everything we can to make the one here even better." After starting the documentary, Rachel took out her phone and sent a message to May. "Weather looks good tomorrow for the zoo. I think Maddie's excited even if she doesn't want to show it. She's watching mammoth show in our 'fort'. Rachel opened up her phone inside the text message to take a picture of the fort and Maddie from behind without her knowledge.

"Yeah, lets give it a go. Even if it ends up being too easy, I don't think I could turn down interacting with an A.I., even a simple one." Brie went with the math one. She was pretty sure that even with her less stellar math skills, she'd still be about to ace it with ease. The A.I. though, they were just starting to develop actual A.I. back home, but to hear May talk about it so flippantly she guess it probably would be a lot more common and advanced here. Brie did her best to find a doll and eventually found one that seemed similar enough to the Barbie dolls she'd always been jealous of. "Yeah, I sort of got those vibes from her. She does like animals though, I learned that. So maybe if we buy things for her in the future we should get animal ones for her?" Brie suggested. "Do we need anything else or are we ready for lunch?" Brie didn't mention it since there wasn't a point asking to use the bathroom when the only options were big toilets, but her need to pee was increasing and she was unconsciously starting to fidget a bit from the discomfort of holding it.
-
"You know it!" Brie laughed in response to the teasing, "I like unicorns, and stuffed animals, and mermaids, and glitter, and princesses are even pretty cool. You know how hard I worked and how much I paid to be this girly? I'm owning it!" Brie laughed even harder as she finished, leaving her with a big grin on her face. "Besides, why not live a little? Cute things are the best." The silverware all looked predictably juvenile but Brie managed to get it in some nice pinks, mints, and purples so it was pretty cool. It wasn't as cute as the cups but the same logic held, would it feel a bit silly to eat with essentially blown up toddler stuff? Yeah, maybe a bit at first. Would she feel more ridiculous and look more like a petulant toddler if she attempted to make do with stuff May's size? Almost certainly. "I'm not sure but I'm certain I want to look. The toy selection was admittedly limited like May had said but she was curious about some of the 'learning toys'. "May, can you tell me a bit about these? Do you think they'd actually be a challenge? I mean, they look like baby stuff but I can't tell how much more challenging than that they are. At the end of the aisle though, something did catch her eye. Fashion dolls. "OK May, you're going to think I'm a huge dork and I'm inclined to agree with you, but I kinda want some dolls. I never had any,my little sister always asked me to play with her but I always said no and pretended I hated the idea. If I'm going to be playing with Maddie, I don't know if I want to turn down the chance to get some dolls when I have it, you know?"
-
"Sure, we can talk about other things..." Rachel trailed off a bit. "I'm sorry I got you upset. You might have thought of this, I don't know, but it might help to have someone to talk to. As much as I want to be the kind of Mommy you want to tell everything to, I know that might not be easy for you. Maybe next time you see her you could talk with Brie? She's from your world, she might understand things I can't. I won't talk about it anymore today though unless you want to. We can push your nap back today and watch another movie, but after that you need your nap or else you'll crash early and wake up before me tomorrow or you'll take it too late and wont want to go to sleep tonight. I don't know about you but I'd rather spend as much of my day as possible doing stuff than sitting in a crib waiting to get let out. I'll clean up our plates, find something you like for us to watch. I don't think you need to watch a scary movie before your nap but anything else is good." She'd clearly touched a nerve. Maddie clearly had issues with her family. She wondered if maybe she didn't know because she wasn't Maddie's first care giver? She had info on failed prospective parents but nothing from Maddie's home dimension. Either it was lost or Maddie just never talked. She might send Renee a text. If Maddie came from a bad household maybe that's why she has been so slow to trust. Truthfully it wasn't the first time Rachel had entertained the idea that Maddie might come from some form of abuse, neglect, or abandonment but previously she had no reason to suspect that is was more likely to come from her world as it had been a product of multiple amazons taking and returning her. That rejection really could damage anyone, especially a little. Rachel finished cleaning the plates and pan and returned to the fort with a new sippy cup of water for Maddie. "Did you find anything good, kiddo?"
-
"Oh, I'm sorry baby, that's clearly a raw nerve. I don't have a problem with us maybe finding a way for you to contact them if you wanted to. You aren't the only little to get stuck here. Used to be, bigs didn't want you to be in touch with your old life, it prevented them from turning you into complete little babys. But I didn't want just any baby, I wanted a Maddie who even though shes a baby also has big girl thoughts and likes scary movies. It might take some work, but we could make it happen. You're my family now, so eveyone important to you is my family too. That's how this works. That means May is your family, and my sister Rachel you haven't met yet. Eventually we're all planning on getting together with your new grandparents before I have to go back to work. Brie seemed pretty fond of you too while you were playing yesterday. I'm sure even after she went back she'd like to be your family too. All I want is you to be the happiest little you can be."
