  2. I wanted to go see the Bob's Burgers movie in theaters again, but of course it's not playing in any nearby theater anymore. Kind of upset, not going to lie.

@DailyDiI doubt it'd be on Disney+. Disney seems to like keeping their Fox shows separate, the only exception being The Simpsons. Since they own a Majority stake in Hulu, it'd make sense to just keep the Fox shows/movies on there, but knowing Disney, it might be awhile until the movie moves to streaming. I think if they did a dual release like HBO has been doing where the movie is available on a streaming service AND in theaters, the movie would have done much better than it did.

Anyway, I like the movie theater experience, so I'm upset that I won't get that again. I should have caught it closer to its release.

@BabyJeggySpideyBoyYeah, I guess it's ending it's theatrical run, it doesn't make any sense, though. My local theater is only running 6 movies right now, despite close to 20 different auditoriums for movies to show. It doesn't make sense not to fill as many of those auditoriums as possible with a movie.

It doesn't make sense why they would actively stop showing a movie, and they clearly still have the rights to it because one of their theaters is still airing it all this week.

  4. The wife and I are going to see the new Bob's Burgers Movie. Figured it'd be a fun time, even if I'm not the biggest Bob's Burgers fan, especially when it comes to the new seasons (they're still good, just not at consistantly good as older seasons in my opinion.).

Just got back from the movie, it was pretty good. My wife isn't a huge fan of Bob's Burgers but she enjoyed it well enough. It was like one long episode, it was pretty good.

  6. @Jesse The BabySpiderBoyI'm moving this conversation here, as I always feel bad whenever we derail a thread to talk about something unrelated.

To try and answer your question of why other with my condition did not live very long.

Because the level of care required is higher than the standards of the medical industry. They would get infection after infection caused by nurses/doctors not being careful enough. Even I have had many infections due to medical neglect.

When I was 2 I had my last site for my central line to go, you have a certain amount of viable places and all of mine were gone by the age of 2.  When that happened my mom learned how to do all my medical stuff and made sure she did things really carefully and really well. She (up until my dad died) had the highest standards as far as my care was concerned. I have gotten very few infections since then. But even my younger sister died from medical neglect. The medical industry is shit, they genuinely don't care and often times do the minimum required to not get fired.

Not everyone is this way, there are a few genuinely great nurses and doctors out there, but they are the exception, not the rule.

You know that saying "Male bullies become cops, female bullies become nurses?" from my experience, that's very true.

    1. kasarberang

      kasarberang

@Jesse The BabySpiderBoyThe fact is nurses, especially RN's which is the only level of nurse which is allowed to take care of people like me, are on short supply. They get hired and basically can do whatever they want because they graduated from nursing school. That's all it takes, they don't have to be good, and they will never get fired, and even if they are, it doesn't mean anything. Companies will snatch any RN up if they get a chance.

I had a nurse who was there when my dad had a heart attack, she was taking care of me at the time, but I was upstairs watching stuff with my wife, while she was downstairs. She watched my dad die on the stairs of our house as my sister's screamed. She did not perform CPR on my dad, which could have saved his life.

She is still at the exact nursing agency she was at when she was working with me, she didn't even get a slap on the wrist for not performing CPR which she is technically mandated to do if ever there's a situation like that.

      @Jesse The BabySpiderBoy

It's often not the doctors, but the nurses. And yes, it's a matter of sterility.

Speaking frankly, it's easy for someone to say that they've received only the best of care if the care they receive does not require a whole lot of effort on a nurse's part. It's not hard to say, change a bandage, rotate a patient, give someone medication, take someone to the bathroom, or even to insert and deal with a simple arm I.V. Those things are fairly low risk and require low skill and effort on the nurse's part. I could literally do most of those things myself, no problem.

It's often those require a certain level of care, one that requires someone to actually, well, give a shit. Something that, if messed up, could literally kill the patient. It's those people who receive the shit care because nurses simply don't, they don't care. If the patient dies because they weren't careful, or didn't maintain sterile protocol, they still get their paycheck, they won't get in trouble "oh, he was going to die anyway" they'd say and because the situation was slightly more complex than average, everyone will believe that, yeah they probably would have died anyway.

I have had such a bad experience with the medical industry that I actively avoid telling my doctors things that any normal person would be worried about. I've had multiple issues where I tell the doctors the problem, so then the doctors try and "fix it", usually the "fix" causes permanent problems and doesn't actually fix the original issue. So, I've just stopped telling anyone anything, unless I, personally, deem it an emergency. The doctors aren't as bad as the nurses though, I have had better experiences with them on average (though still plenty of bad experiences.) I think it's because it's far easier to become a nurse than a doctor, so doctor's tend to be more knowledgeable and more caring in general.

  8. When people misunderstand Freedom of Speech. Yes, you have the freedom to speak as you please, but it doesn't absolve you from the consequences of what you say. Some people really gotta learn that, Huh?

    1. kasarberang

      kasarberang

I did want to add something, imagine if Freedom of Speech did apply to websites/companies. You could no longer have any specialized sites. Cat sites would not be able to remove pictures of Dogs or political discussions/mudslinging. This would be horrible and there would be very few websites that would actually be worth visiting, if any, since none of them would be allowed to moderate without breaking laws.

It's a good thing that sites are allowed to moderate however they want, it allows people to choose what sites they want to be apart of and what sites aren't even worth a second glance. It allows for great communities to be made around very specialized and niche topics, and it allows various types of people to find places where they are accepted without fear of being hated/harassed by others. And for those people who would like to say whatever they want without being banned, there are sites for those individuals as well.

  9. When people misunderstand Freedom of Speech. Yes, you have the freedom to speak as you please, but it doesn't absolve you from the consequences of what you say. Some people really gotta learn that, Huh?

    1. kasarberang

      kasarberang

You're right, freedom of speech does not give you freedom from the consequences of that speech. For example, if you were to say something racist in public, you'd have a high likelihood of having the shit beaten out of you, or if you were in a place of business you would probably be asked to leave. You would not be arrested for this speech and the government would not stop you from saying it or arrest you for saying it.

Freedom of Speech does not protect you from a platform's Terms of Service, It does not stop your reputation from going down the drain. It does not help you keep your job.

Freedom of Speech also depends on where you live and what classifies under "Free Speech". In the U.S. you can basically say whatever you want to whomever you want (provided it's not a credible threat), without fear of being arrested/charged for your speech. Basically, your right to speech overrides anyone else's right to feel comfortable with what you say.

      Quote

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances

However, in many other places there are far more restrictions on speech, some reasonable, some not so reasonable.

  10. Been using hand sanitizer a lot recently, and I'm starting to feel the effects of it. My hands are getting really, really dry. I found this product on Amazon, which is supposed to be a combination lotion and hand sanitizer, which is nice. So, hopefully, that will help me with my dry skin and also function as a half decent sanitizer.

I used to hate lotion when I was younger, now it's okay, so long as I get something that isn't super greasy.

  12. Wife noticed I have a Stye on my right eye today. Going to have to deal with treating that now, happy she caught it before it got really bad, I've been hospitalized for those before.

Luckily, it was in my blind eye, so my vision won't be affected by it.

      kasarberang

@BabySpiderBoyIt's a bacterial infection on the lid of your eye that can progress into being pretty bad. It needs to be treated with hot compresses every day, along with being extra careful not to touch the eye with unclean hands.

@BabySpiderBoyThe last contest I did about 2 years ago was a huge success! This one has already attracted some interest since I made the original post on March 27th. Looks like this one will probably go similarly as the last one. Especially since the prize money is double the prize money that was available last time.

  15. Got tickets for the 2nd Sonic The Hedgehog Movie, turns out my theater has tickets at only $6/ticket on a specific weekday, so we're paying half what we would otherwise be paying.

@BabySpiderBoyI'm sure I'll enjoy it. I'm fairly easy to please when it comes to movies. Even movies that are largely considered bad, I'll usually enjoy. Heck, even if I dislike a movie, or realise it's objectively bad, I usually enjoy watching it the first time around.

  16. Forgot that daylight savings time was today, it's especially interesting that it seemed to change at 2am instead of at midnight.

I went and did something at 1:47am and the 3am alarm to feed the cat went off really early, I had thought I took over an hour doing something that should have taken like 10 minutes.

The only reason I figured out the time had changed is our microwave clock (the only non-internet connected clock we have plugged in at the moment) was an hour behind.

    1. kasarberang

      kasarberang

Yeah, he technically got to eat an hour early cause I didn't realize the time has changed until after I had fed him. lol.

I'll give him a big hug for you.

  17. Do I need to upgrade my system from 32GB of ram to 128GB? No. Am I thinking about it? Yes.

Will I actually ever go through with such a silly thing? Probably not.

    1. kasarberang

      kasarberang

While that's true, I barely ever go above half of my current 32GB of ram in most days, unless i'm doing some stuff in a virtual machine, but that's fairly rare, and still doesn't take up more than 18GB total.

It was always one of my life goals to be married and independent, never really thought it'd happen so early, either. Things happened better than I could have ever hoped, I'm so lucky to live the life I do. Wouldn't trade it for the world. :D
