Interesting topic. I'm mid 50's and was very aware of my fetish for diapers and "stuff". I had always been fascinated with diapers and the act of being diapered - from a young age, say 5 or so. When I was about 12, I found that my dad had a bunch of Penthouse magazines and such. That led me to finding Variations magazine, which often had stories about Diapers. So while I knew that I was not alone, I was still by myself. I saw ads for various suppliers in those magazines some of which offered diapers - NK Products, Centurians are two that come to mind. Fast forward to the early 90's, say 1992 where I finally ordered the DPF catalog. What a tremendous day THAT was. I soon joined, and was on my way. Around that time, I wanted to order some cloth diapers and plastic panties, so I had to summon the courage to actually call and talk to the people at NK Products, I think it was. So, the long and short of it - there was definitely ABDL before the internet, but likely it was not known as ABDL at that time. The internet certainly makes finding others with common interests much easier, as well as related content, and supplies. We were able to do that earlier, but it took a lot more time, and was not easy to do.
