I got a letter from my bank today. They froze my card after a recent purchase from Rearz for "suspicious activity." On one hand I'm happy they keep an eye on my account, but on the other this is still what I consider a "nightmare scenario." Had they called instead of sending a letter, I can only imagine what my family might have heard. One call to the bank and everything was fixed though.

Not only had I bought diapers with the card before my recent order from Rearz, the diapers that I'd bought were a case of Rearz Spoiled around the end of last year. I'm guessing it was the fact that it was an international transaction that they found suspicious. The only difference between my first and second purchases were that the first one was in US dollars and the second was in Canada dollars, so I'm guessing that might have had something to do with it. I know the bank automatically flags certain transactions such as ones that occur outside of the country or in person in a state far from where the cardholder lives, but since they didn't flag my first purchase from Rearz, I figured I was in the clear with this one. After flying out of state a few times with a different card, I learned to call the bank for that card in advance to let them know I'd be traveling so that they wouldn't flag the card while I was away.
I got lucky though, apparently the bank tried to call after the Rearz purchase but the voicemail system just never delivered the message so they sent the letter instead. While I doubt they'd have mentioned what the purchase was for on a voicemail message, I'd still hate to have to deal with the situation if they did.
