  1. You make a good argument, Dolly, but unfortunately you're comparing apples to oranges. Building your Wi-Fi network without any firewalls or security layers (such as WEP) despite the fact that they are built into installation is more akin to building a house and making the provision (cut-outs) for doors and windows, but not installing them - instead leaving them wide open for all the world to see. The provisions are there, but you chose to ignore them - despite security warnings. That being said, I'm not saying it's ethical to harness another's Wi-Fi connection, but if you don't take those (easy) precautions, it's an open invitation to those with looser ethics. I live out in the country, where the majority of my neighbours are either too far away to receive my signal or they don't use computers. Despite that fact, I have my Wi-Fi network installed with 128bit security. For people just like the original poster referenced. The ones who might stop their car in front of my house and 'hook up'. I'm not worried about them using my internet connection - it's unlimited broadband - I'm more worried about the malicious ones looking for more. If my internet was a pay-per-use system, I would likely be even more vigilant. Just my 2¢
  2. I agree. In fact, around here (NB, Canada) we have several places where one can hook up for free, such as the airport, a couple of 'Truck Stops', and even part of the downtown core. That being said, one could assume that any open, unsecured access point is available for public use. It takes mere minutes for one to secure their access point - not securing it is inviting others to use it.
  3. There is a company in the city nearby me that manufactures a line of baby diapers under the name Little Tykes (like the toy company...). When they were starting to set up their manufacturing plant, I had a cousin that worked for a different division of the same company. He had told me, at the time, that P&G (et. al) owned several patents with regards to the process of making the diapers and that IPC (the company) had to get licenses from these companies and pay royalties (on a per-diaper basis) to them. Saying that, if you make a diaper.. period... chances are you are going to be paying bucks to P&G to begin with... plus whatever other licensing issues that may and chances are will come up. That being said - if you make them, sign me up as a potential customer. If you're going to start a business venture, chances are your 'venture capitalists' are going to want to know what kind of market you have. Regards and good luck, BabyDavey
  4. What a bonus, eh? I've been touting the advantages of Firefox ever since the first stable release. It's got to be the best browser I've ever used. It's no wonder it's becoming so popular. As each new release comes out it gets better and better. And hey, if you like that, try Thunderbird for your email. It did for my email what Firefox did for my browser. (as I'm typing this, I'm noticing that Firefox is spelled right, but firefox is not... Kind of funny..) Cheers, BabyDavey
  5. I've had too many stuffies over the years to mention. Some being the mementos of failed relationships past, (those were given to my lovely dogs who loved them in their own special way..), and some lost in my first childhood. Fortunately my (name forgotten) pound puppy survived and a bear my grandparents gave me when I was sick in the hospital as a child did too (he received a nosectomy and new [button] prosthetic nose). But my most beloved stuffy is a bear named Theodore which my wife bought me for Christmas a couple years back. She bought it from that place which fills up the bear with stuff and lets you customize it. She says she is going to get diapers (from their 'clothes line') for him someday... I'm jealous cause he'll get to wear diapers to bed all the time and I won't..... ~BabyDavey
  6. I don't know about where you are, but around here we have a UPS store. Essentially a 'post office' for UPS where you can get P.O. Boxes which accept mail and UPS shipments. Also what I have done a few times in the past is ordered the product as per usual. Upon receiving the shipment confirmation email (and tracking number), I called UPS and had stated for them to hold it at the depot, and picked it up at my convenience. Though I have a car and that makes it easy for me to say. I suppose if you have cheap taxi fares and a UPS depot close by.... ~BabyDavey
  7. Hinder I just purchased their whole (Extreme Behavior) album on iTunes: The best I've heard in a long time. ~BabyDavey
