Hey there! I just wanted to thank you so much for listening and for all the kind words about the podcast. To be clear, we have to know you from a munch to attend the sleepover. However we welcome new folks at the munch. We have the rule in place for the sleepover and other parties because they are held at a private residence. That said, if you can't make it out to this munch and party, no worries. Hi there dave, There's a is, in fact, a MARTA bus stop right in front of the diner. A few of the other attendees have travelled that way before. I know the bus leaves from the Lindbergh MARTA station, but I don't know the number of schedule. I imagine Google Maps could help with that. @Sandkat We're going to be in Tokyo for almost 2 weeks. We've got quite a few activities in the travel plans. From taking a side trip to visit an onsen in Hakone to checking out Harijuku on a Sunday, to going to Tokyo Disney Seas and and Odeiba to see the Sega Joipolis. He hope to do lots of shopping in the Gothic/Lolita Stores. Also, thanks for sharing those pictures. There are some great captures there and it's making me even more excited about the honeymoon. @SecondLook Thanks for the tips. We definately plan to spend Sunday in Harijuku. I just wonder if we'll be able to find any cute sweet lolita outfits for a Westerner like me that has a little bit around the mid section. @diamonback6881 Thanks. Last Sunday I was reading my Live Journal friends list and happened across the posting of a certain friend that had just received a new book as a gift. *Waves to sebastien* It's called "The Toybag Guide to Age Play" by Lee Harrington. So I looked it up on Google. There I discovered that, it's a fairly recent publication that has already generated a bit of controversy. I've enjoyed reading Dan Savage's articles in the past. So it's my hope that this short post on his blog was meant to be humorous. And, as you might expect, there were a few ignorant posts in the comments section. But in the end, cooler headed comments, from people like my brother babymako and the author, prevailed. Needless to say, being passionate about age play, I HAD to have a copy. Also ,fortunately, it was only $10 on Amazon. I would not have to engage my shopping impulse control. It arrived on Wednesday. It's a small book, literally. It's about 6 inches by 4 inches; which I believe is the standard for the Toybag Guide series published by Greenery Press. (BTW, I love those guys.) There are 102 pages of content total. So the expectation is set that this is not going to be a heavy treatment of the subject. The intent of the book seems to be to present a condensed version of an Age Play 101 class. I started reading the first chapter on Wednesday, but it was also date night. My Mommy took me on a surprise trip to see the play Wicked. (FYI, the play RAWKED!) Needless to say, real reading would have to wait until the next day. On Thursday evening, after work, I set out to read the rest of the book. I was able to catch it in bits and pieces while working on other things and finished it in about 2 hours. A dedicated reader would likely wrap it up in a little less than an hour. There is lots to like about this book. First, it doesn't suffer from the "one-true-way-ism" trap that so many books on kink seem to fall into. It's well balanced, giving a brief voice to many different configurations of age play. It acknowledges geriatric age players right along with the more traditional school girls and adult babies. It also hit on a point that seems to shock folks when I give a class on age play, that not all littles are bottoms. It also made clear that they are many more varieties of age play than even the author can name. Another aspect I felt was really well done was the description of the sources people use when drawing their roles and how that source impacts the interaction of roles. This is a concept I've tried to convey to classes before. Lee wraps the discussion cleanly in a concept called archetypes. I think everyone interested in any kind of role play, especially age play, should read this section and learn the concept well. I also enjoyed the section about the levels of investment in play. It's important to note that not everyone is interested in or should be involved in a 24/7 age play dynamic. I think Lee covers the varying degrees of involvement in play and relationships well and that there is no way that is "better" than any other. To me, the down side of this book is that it's light on the detailed practices of various roles. Choosing instead to focus on the high-level concepts. This is probably fine considering how condensed this book needed to be. But it's a little disappointing that he couldn't dedicate a chapter to various age play activities by giving a few specific scenarios for the uninitiated player, like learning to color again, or ideas for a bubble bath (with and without a partner). Finally, some of the resources, especially for adult babies, is dated. DPF, listed in the resources section for instance, has not been a viable entity for at least 7 years now. I'm biased here, but I would also like to have seen more coverage about getting out and meeting other age players. Information about attending munches and play parties could be very useful for the beginner. A few more biases I should point out. I met Lee Harrington, then Bridgett, about three or four years ago at a personal shibari class he was giving for me and a few friends in Atlanta. I know him to be an excellent educator both by experience and reputation. Also, in the resources section of the book, I noticed he had a few pointers to the service projects of my age playing poly family, the ghidrah. There are links to the Littles and Baby Pride Symbol and the Littles Group Documentation Project. I highly recommend this book to those just starting out in age play in any role. Those who have been involved in age play for a long time aren't likely to get as much from it. But you might find it useful to share with new partners and friends.
