How much does al that add to the price? What would it save if you just had the fluff, SAP and a good solid paper substrate with fasteners (the originals used pin fastening). In other words, beef up what works well. The originals used paper that was very clothlike, which is why they were called "paper" diapers. This worked fairly well and would work with SAP as a substrate. The original Sani-Pant had a throw-away liner that stuck to the polyurethan inner part of the panty but that was expensive. Also, designed right, you could wear them with the rubber panties of your choice. That would get the forever plastics out of the landfills and add years to their useful lives. Tapes that stick to porous materials like the paper would be easier to make or you could go back to pin fasteners Medical facilities could still get these AIO briefs but they either do or should have special disposal facilities and procedures. The new old diapers could be made much more readily degradable and cheaper

If you use fancy prefolds, care, especially drying, will be more costly but no more so than the equivalent trhow-aways. However, flats are not as heavily processed, I am told that terry squares are not that expeinsive, or, like me, you can make your own, with proper care and maintainence they can last a long time, I am still using what I made in c2009.
