Cloth Diaper Versus Disposables?

Interesting, I thank you for that. -
How Can Adult Pull-Ups Become So Popular?
fieldmouse2011 replied to d_drew12's topic in Product Reviews and Info
Pull-ups don't do it for me either medically or after a fashion. I agree about the currency/frequency thing, here in the UK all our pharmacies stock Tena Pants and Attends Pull-ups. -
Just as a note, I recently ordered some $30 worth of diapers from ABUniverse, last Wednesday I think it was, today is Monday and Fed-Ex were here [i am in the UK] at 10.30am, now that is how it should be but isn't always I guess.

I guess too weird [for me] would be anything babyish, dummy-sucking, romper-suits and especially those baby-print plastic pants but, wait!!!... out of curiosity I did order a small pack [10] of SDK from ABU, so who knows, I can't and don't judge, whatever feels good for a person, go do it, life is way too short to worry...

Diapers And The Summer Heat.
fieldmouse2011 replied to ThomasInWVa's topic in Incontinence - Medical
My online GF lives in San Francisco. She knows of my condition. She was amazed at the difference in our health care, especially when I told her that if I were ill and had problems looking after myself, I have a number to call and a nurse is supplied to look after me. And that is through standard NHS care; why the US in contrast seems so different and uncaring is alien to me, I feel for you and glad that I don't live there. -
Cloth Diaper Versus Disposables?
fieldmouse2011 replied to cushytoosh's topic in Incontinence - Medical
In 1980, I was seventeen. Sure I was used to being seen as geeky and different because of my disability but I don't remember anything controversial [at least here in the UK] - what was controversial about diapers exactly? -
Any Tips On Wearing Full Time Due To Medical Advise
fieldmouse2011 replied to sjpersonal2's topic in Incontinence - Medical
I agree about soap. My incontinence nurse taught me that a while ago. Soap used to get dry under the foreskin and cause soreness. As for rashes, I've hardly had this but mainly because I have routine and change as soon as is needed, wherever I am I have my changing bag with everything I need. I also find that if there is a slight soreness or the signs of a rash, applying Sudocrem helps. -
Me too. While I'm fine about the fetish side, there are still many people who will give you funny looks and associate your attire with a fetish when you genuinely have a medical disability. I guess the real problem is that nappies are always associated with babies. If this wasn't so, we wouldn't have a problem and be writing about this!

Cloth Diaper Versus Disposables?
fieldmouse2011 replied to cushytoosh's topic in Incontinence - Medical
I remember being in cloth up to age maybe seven/eight with rubber pants over the top. But this was 1970. I have been in disposables ever since. Some mild research told me that the first disposables were around a while before that. What is best? I could not imagine wearing cloth now because I am so used to disposable nappies and I hate changes for no major reason. -

Good point! I never actually looked that close to see the "emo" factors... I was just attracted by the colors! -
Wearing Diapers In Public For The First Time?
fieldmouse2011 replied to diapergirl77's topic in Diaper Lovers
My advice would depend on where exactly you intend to be seen. I've only recently mustered the courage to be seen in public. Open-plan changing areas at the pool have also caused problems but my advice would be [in general], never to assume that everyone is going to suddenly stop whatever they're doing and stare. Recently I changed at the beach standing up just the same as anyone else and got down to my nappy and plastic pants, then sat down under a towel to take them off and no-one took a blind bit of notice. I think we often worry a little too much about what other people think anyway. -

Well I was amazed to find these briefs in our local Tesco... hope it is not against rules to model them here, but anyway, here they are! -
I usually pack three nappies in a carrier bag and fold it up tight. If going to the beach, it's important to keep any sand out. My talc I keep separate along with shampoo and shower gel [if I'm going to be using any showers] and my wipes I keep in a small cool bag, as this keeps them refreshingly cool on a hot day.

I found when Googling plastic pants, most of the sites offered the snap-on variety.
