Natalie's bad day turned worse....

"Yes a bib to keep your shirt clean, pullups. Because you have had two accidents in one day and the pacifier to keep you calm. you seem to be really nervous and scared when you don't have it in your mouth." Linda nods. "Yes you are still my big girl. Pullups and all."

Natalie tries to think for a minute but just comes to the conclusion that mommy is right. "Tanks mommy you right!" Natalie really digs in making a mess of her lunch like a hungry toddler even almost knocking over her milk a few times.

Linda walks back to the table with her drink. "Slow down. The food is not going to run off if you don't quickly eat it. The nuggets don't have legs. I ordered the legless chicken nuggets." She takes a napkin and wipes some catchup off Natalie's mouth and nose. "The only place on your face without catchup is your eyes."

"Mommy I'm know how to eat I'm a big girl silly mommy!" Sarah takes another big hand of food and drops ketchup all over her bib in the process.

Linda nods. "Yes you are sweetie. Just eat a little slower. So you don't get choked." She smiles to herself when she sees the catchup on the bib instead of her shirt. Linda knew she was correct to put a bib on Natalie, but she didn't say anything to Natalie about her being right. There was no need in starting that argument again.

As they finished the messy lunch Natalie did slow down and by the end she sat still as mommy wiped her face, hands and removed the bib. As mommy threw the trash out Natalie put her pacifier back in her mouth and sat there while her big girl brain tried to make it's way back to the foreground.

Linda comes back to the table. "Want your pie now or eat it later at home?" She notices Natalie was absent mindedly sucking on her pacifier not paying attention to the question she was asked. Linda snapped her fingers to get Natalie attention. "Earth to Natalie, Earth to Natalie. This is the mothership. Are you receiving my transmission?"

"Ahhh! Mommy you scared me!" Natalie says coming back to focus with her big girl brain and thoughts lost again. "Wanna go home now pwease mommy." Natalie says wiping her eyes indicating it's nap time.

Linda chuckled. "I'm sorry sweetie. I didn't mean to scare you." She nods. "Alright. Set right there and get the pies to go and then we can go home. Looks like it is someone's naptime. We wouldn't want Beauty to turn into the Beast."

"Ugh I don't like nap time mommy I not baby..." Natalie says with a big yawn and stretch wiping her eyes.

Linda smiles. "Taking naps has nothing to do with being a baby. It is about recharging your batteries. Your body is like my cellphone." She takes her cellphone out of her pocket. "If I didn't charge it when the battery gets low. It will stop working and I will not be able to make or get phone calls. The same with your body. If you don't nap. You will not have the energy to run around and play with your toys. Even big girls take naps to recharge their batteries."

"Oh! Mommy can I have a phone?" Natalie says now completely distracted from her mom's point or the facr that they are leaving.

Linda looks at Natalie. "I'm not sure you are ready for a phone. If you can go a week without having an accident. I'll look into getting you a phone." She carried Natalie to the car. Since she was looking sleepy. Linda put her in her booster seat and buckled her in. She got into the driver seat and back out of the parking place. Linda headed towards home. She looked in the rearview mirror and saw Natalie was asleep and they hadn't made it out of town yet. When they got home. Linda carried her upstairs and laid her in her bed. She changed Natalie into a dry pullup and then quietly closed the bedroom door.

Natalie slept well like a baby, and while she slept she had a crazy dream. 

12 year old Natalie sat in a chair in the middle of a dark room and one light hangs above her. "Hello?" Her voice echoed out. She notices she back in her middle school uniform. But soon some one approaches... it's her, well 5 year old Natalie. 

"Hehe your silly!" 5year old Natalie says.

"What why do you say that?" Natalie says to her former self.

"Because your a big baby! Hehehe"

"No I am not! Your the baby one of us!"

"No that's you! I don't wear diaper during the day anymore!" The 5 year old says proudly. 

Natalie wanted to rebuttal but she felt funny. She lifts her skirt to see a big purple diaper where her undies were under her uniform. "Yeah well.... I'm still bigger than you I'm not some baby!"

 

"Hehe yes you are you even got a paci and a bib!"

"No! I bwithdaba!" Natalie starts to say til her pacifier appears in her mouth and a bib that says big baby on it shows up around her neck.

"I don't know how mommy ever let us be big girls. You know you look cute in that high chair but I think it's time we wore the right uniform." Little Natalie says and like that she was gone. 

Natalie was now in a huge highchair, a pink onesie, and couldn't talk.around her pacifier. Then a new figure appears, it's the nurse!

"Definitely not 12 I'm thinking 2 at most. Let's just change your records. Hahahaha!"

Natalie wakes up from the dream with a leaky pullup sucking her pacifier crying for mommy!

Linda was laying on the couch napping when she heard Natalie calling her. She walked down the room to the room that used to be Natalie's nursery. Linda flips on the light to be confronted with boxes and totes. "Opps wrong room." She flips off the light and goes to Natalie's bedroom. Linda sees Natalie setting on her bed crying. She walks over and picks up Natalie. "What's the matter sweetie? Did you have another accident?"

"Mommy me no baby! Me big me big!" Natalie cries ignoring her leaky pullup and clinging to her mommy's chest.

Linda rubs Natalie's back. "Yes you are a big girl. Not a baby. What brought this on? Did you have a bad dream? Dreams can't hurt you. They are just your imagination running wild."

"Da natawee in dweam told me I's a baby! Cause I need my diaper and my pacifier and my bib! She say I go kindergarten now and and and I was in a nursery!" Natalie tried to be composed but she just ends up crying into her mommy's chest harder.

Linda rubbed her back. "Well she is wrong. You are not a baby. You are a big girl and are in 6th grade." She was starting not to believe it, but she wasn't going to say that to Natalie. It would make her upset more than she alway was. Linda held Natalie and hummed a lullaby as she cried. Once she started to calm down a bit. Why don't you draw a picture of your feelings. Maybe it will help you feel better to get them out where you can see them better."

"OK... I can do dat mommy." Natalie says into mommy's chest. Then looks up and says "Mommy me all wet. Change me first?"

Linda nods. "Of course I will sweetie. Be right back." She goes downstairs and picks up the bags from Target. Linda brings them up to Natalie's room and lays them on the bed. She rips the sides of the pullups open and it flops to the floor. Linda takes some wipes and cleans Natalie's skin. She gets a new pullup out of the bag and opens it up. Linda sprinkles some powder inside the pullup. "Ok left foot, right foot. Up we go." She pulls it up after Natalie steps into the pullup. "There you go. A dry bottom." Linda leaves Natalie's room and went down to her home office. She gets some printer paper out and opens the closet. Linda gets out the big box of crayons that Natalie used to use when she was little. "I'm glad. I didn't get rid of these." She brings both of them back to Natalie's room and puts them on Natalie's desk facing the window. "Here you go sweetie."

Natalie giggles at the pullup going up her legs and the powder the floated in the air. "Tank you mommy" she says as she gets sat at her desk. 

After about 10 minutes of drawing she feels her big girl brain coming back to focus. "Wait what am I doing?" She says taking her pacifier out of her mouth trying to think hard of what's going on.

"You are welcome sweetie. I'll be in my office if you need anything."Linda pats Natalie on the top of her head and then leaves the room to go to her office.

Natalie stands up and looks around then down at her pull-ups. "What has happened to me? I... I am a big girl i don't need pullups or mommy.... mom to do all this for me! I am a big girl!" Natalie storms off to mommy's office to tell her.

Linda heard Natalie stomping down the hallway towards her office. She paused the meeting she was in and waited on Natalie to show up. Linda thought maybe something was wrong. She smiled at Natalie as she came in. "Everything ok sweetie?"
