Kiddo "Teddy's Ultra" Review

Recommended Posts

Good day, fellow pampered princelings (and princesslings, and any other royal -lings who may be reading this)!

I recently acquired a case of Kiddo’s “Teddy’s Ultra” diapers, and I have been putting them through their paces. What follows is my review:

There can be no doubt that these are very cute diapers. They are also very absorbent, have lovely standing leg guards and are otherwise very functional. The cloth-back texture is very nice in a tactile sense, and overall they are made very well…

Unfortunately, all of this is ruined by the hook-and-loop tapes/landing strip, which is quite frankly the most useless fastening arrangement I have ever seen on a diaper, youth, medical, or ABDL. The single tapes per side are mounted too low on the sides, closer to the position of the lower tapes on 4 tape diapers, too close to the legs, and any activity at all dislodges them. The tapes also have weaker adhesion than any tape I have ever seen. Worse, repositioning/reapplying the tapes, however carefully, makes this adhesion weaker. I do not mean they come loose sometimes, with any duration of wear they come loose EVERY TIME…

I still have some ABU Cloth-Backed Cushies, a cloth backed hook-and-loop single-tape-per-side diaper recently (and very sadly) discontinued. Being the same basic design, I am able to directly compare them, and the difference is night and day. Better tapes positioned more reasonably, that actually hold the diaper on my butt, win every time… sad that I, and we, can no longer get these ;(

I am saddened by this, not only because I feel I have wasted my money, but that is means that there is no good quality single tape cloth backed hook and loop ABDL diaper currently available. You see I am particularly fond of diapers that fit that description…

In conclusion, I cannot recommend these despite their promising appearance. I do not know about you, but I find having to worry about my diaper staying on me majorly detracts from my little space experience. Do yourself a favor and do not join me in my disappointment...

I like the idea of single tape diapers because of the baby diaper look. But all have the same shaped wings as four tape diapers. It's cheaper to manufacture this way, they just put one tape instead of two on the same diaper. But the wing is too big for just one tape, single tape diapers should have smaller wings, more tapered towards the tapes.

Also, I can imitate the single tape look by placing the two tapes exactly parallel side by side, slightly overlapping. It fits better and stronger than the real single tape.

I could not agree more! The wide sides are silly, and fit awkwardly. They should be like scaled up modern Huggies or Pampers in design, with stretchy wings tapering to a single wide tape. This would both look and fit better. Why no one makes something like this, despite the lively market in, and the several manufacturers of, specialized ABDL diapers, I cannot fathom…

Not much use in competition if they all make essentially the same products…

I actually tried to make the tapered wings with an ABU Super Dry Kids. Fortunately on this diaper the tapes are relatively high placed. I trimmed the back wings under the tab in a straight diagonal line, carefully beside the absorbent filling. The back wings are even taller than the front, which is stupid, considering the single tape. This way the outside edges of the wings were nearly the same at the front and at the back, and the tapes are centered on the outer edge. The result is very nice and comfortable to wear.

Interesting! You know, despite being pretty close to the maximum waist size for the medium size SDK's, the front side wings always wind up balling up and sticking out of the wasitband when I wear them for any length of time. It's annoying. I suspect that if that extra material was not there...
