“Damn it I have to hurry or I’ll miss my flight!” Kayla said to herself as she hurriedly packed her bags..

Kayla was going back home for a few weeks and she would also be having a meeting with the lawyers and her bitch step mom Amber! 

She rolled her eyes as she zipped up her bag just thinking about the confrontation that she knew was coming..

Once Kayla was onboard she just made it she felt at ease she got out her phone and texted her step mom to let her know she was on board and would be taking off on time..

She sighed once she sent the message being sure to call her Amber and not mom like Amber wanted her too.

As if she thought to herself she’s only 8-12 years older then me no way I’m calling her mom.. She knew Amber wasn’t that much older then her but she wasn’t 100% sure.. 

She looked out the window as they began the take off..

Once they were in the air she leaned back putting her headphones on and tried to listen to some music but she couldn’t get Amber off her mind and the arguments they’ve been having since her dad died..

Her mom left her and her dad when she was twelve and it was just her and her dad and she was able to do whatever she wanted until Amber came along! 

She had just turned sixteen and when Amber entered the picture she convinced her dad to get more strict with her curfew they had to know where she was going ect and her and Amber butted heads all the time!  She’ll never forget the first of many times that Amber actually spanked her cause she said she acted like a spoiled brat when her dad was away on a business trip! 

They had been fighting over everything once he left and one night Amber had enough and she got out her hairbrush and began spanking her Kayla was small and Amber was tall and stronger then her.. 

She had never forgot that summer! 

Kayla was so happy once she was going away for school she had her freedom back and she got away from her strict step mom..

Her dad died six months ago of a heart attack and now she was coming back home to talk about her inheritance..

She wasn’t looking forward to it either cause her and Amber got into a big fight and Kayla yelled at her calling her a bitch and she hung up on her but they had talked a few times since then and things seemed ok..  She apologized once she cooled down all Amber said is they could talk about it later and she wasn’t sure what that meant..

She was so lost in her thoughts she lost track of time and she realized they were about to land..

Hopefully I can get my money now and now wait till I’m twenty one then I can control my life and do what I want!  She smiled thinking to herself as they landed..

”I’m home!” She said to herself smiling as she was ready to grab her bag.

”We’ve landed where will you meet me at?” She text to Amber since she was picking her up..

When Amber had gotten to the airport she let out a sigh it had been quite difficult not only her husband had died her she had already got into another fight with her stepdaughter and on top of that had received a phone call from the headmistress of Raymond Academy that Kayla had gotten into some trouble.

It was no secret that's her and Kayla didn't really get along, also Amber did try her best she did care for her and she did try to be a good influence on her stepdaughter especially since her dad let her get away with far too much and didn't even spend a lot of time with her mostly just buying things for her. But when ever she tried to be a parent or spending quality time with Kayla it usually always in a fight. But she was hoping thing would change for them especially since Kayla wasn't going to go back to school at least for a couple of months until everything cooled down.

Kayla was growing frustrated as Amber didn’t answer..

”Ugh what the hell!”’ She said to herself as she grabbed her overhead bag..

Damn I just wanted to know where to meet her now I have to go around looking for her.. She thought to herself as she was letting her anxiety get to her..

Kayla texted Amber again..

Where ya at I’m getting a ice coffee at Starbucks. 

She wonders why we don’t get along I just wanted to know where she was so we could meet up and she can’t even answer! She thought to herself as she was growing impatient.. 

Kayla ordered her coffee and sat down taking a big drink she calmed down feeling a little better..

Amber then checked her phone to see if she got any text from Kayla, but the moment she saw her phone she realized that she forgot to charge it due to the fight they had yesterday. "God damn it." Amber said to herself, this was definitely not her day. 

Amber got out of the car and walked over to one of the security guards working at the terminal she then asked if they could put out call for her stepdaughter giving her a description and everything. One of the security guards used the loudspeaker and called, "Would a Kayla please meet at stepmom in Terminal 7 would a Kayla meet her stepmom at Terminal 7." Amber could not help but blush a bit as the security guard use the loudspeaker that was only reserved for finding lost children or to update a schedule or announced a delay.

Kayla turned red as everyone looked at her in the airport coffee shop at not five minutes ago they called her name as her drink was ready and they were busy.. She turned red with embarrassment picking up her bag and purse and drink walking to aisle 7..

Damn her this is so embarrassing they do this shit for little kids not adults!! She thought to herself..

Once she finally got to terminal seven Amber was no where to be found.

Kayla walked up to the security guard..

”Hi I’m Kayla I’m supposed to be meeting my step mom:” she said anxiously looking around she just wanted to get out of here.

A security guard saw her and told Kayla her stepmother would be here, no sooner had the words left his mouth then a call for Kayla was heard. "Hello Kayla sorry my cell phone was out of power and I couldn't get any messages from you." Amber said as she came over and give her step daughter a hug.

“Whatever that was really embarrassing to be called like that like I was five years old or  something.”’she said rolling her eyes.. Giving her a friendly hug back..

Kayla was in a bad mood and just hoped things would get better.. 

I just wanna get home and chill out.. She thought to herself.. 

As they were standing there she felt like everyone was watching them.. 

“Ready!”

Amber nodded her head even though Kayla was a little rude she couldn't exactly blame her as she was partly to blame and Kayla's father was dead so she decided to cut the slack. they walked out of the airport into the car Amber opening the front seat for her. "Do you want to stop at fast food joint before we head home?" Amber asked with a smile before getting in herself.

“Sure that sounds fine when is the meeting with the lawyers?” She said frustrated as she wanted her money then to party with her friends..

”How bout Burger King?” 

Kayla looked out the window wondering how much money she was going to get and fantasizing what she was going to do with it..

She loved her dad but life is life!

"There will be a reading of his will soon." Amber pulled into Burger King after getting their food Amber said, "Kayla I now we have never really gone along or bonded but if you want to open up about your father's passing I'm here for you." Amber wiped her eye as they were heading in the familiars street.

Kayla felt a sense of de’ja- vu as she remembered having this conversation after the funeral and was really curious how much money she was getting… 

She smiled as they pulled into Burger King she was hungry..

“Um sure fine whatever.” She said as she was texting her friend..

When they got to the house Amber parked the car and got out she then went to the door of the two-story house and opened it, "why don't you head up to your room I've got to do some work right now then we can talk after." Amber said with a smile.

“Sure ok.” She said as she was looking forward to getting unpacked and getting settled in..

She was expecting to be their for a week then get her money and head back to school! 

Kayla went up to her room and was happy to see it was still the same as she left it. 

“Least she didn’t change it.” She thought as she turned on the tv and sat down to watch tv.

Amber started to do some work she looked over her husband will again as she had an Advanced copy and basically said that she would get the house as well as a good portion of money to live off of, but she was also Kayla's legal benefactor at least until Kayla with 21 she could give Kayla her money now, but it was up to her and until Kayla turned 21 the young woman couldn't touch a dime.

Kayla feel asleep as she was tired.. As she was sleeping she was thinking of all the things she would do with her money..

She slept really good.:

Kayla had no idea the email her step mom received where she had been suspended from school and now she would be stuck at home for several more weeks.::

As Kayla slept she had no idea her partying with her friends and getting caught with liquor was about to come back to get her!

Amber was very tired not only having to bury her husband but having to deal with the fallout of her stepdaughter the actions at her private school, honestly Kayla was lucky she wasn't expelled and the headmistress agreed that suspension would be better. But there would be some serious need of improvement and her grades needed to go up if she wanted to continue to stay there.

Kayla woke up and turned on her tv she started playing her ps 5 as she was a gamer..

She checked her phone and began texting some of her friends..

I’ll hit you up when I know how much I’m getting and we can party girl! She sent her message to her best friend Kim..

Kim had been Kayla's best friend they had known one another since they were kids, although they did go to different School but Kim and Kayla always managed to keep in touch. Kim even texted that she was back home for a couple of days and had a big surprise for her.

As that was going on Amber had got all of the paperwork ready it was mentally preparing to talk to her stepdaughter about school, it was going to be hard due to the fact that Kayla would have to stay home for at least two to three months while everything was smoothed over back at her private school.

Kayla smiled after she got the txt back she wondered what the surprise was. 

You know I hate surprises girl! Kayla texted back she went downstairs as she needed a drink and go to the bathroom.  

On her way downstairs she wondered what Amber was doing.

After mentally preparing and getting paperwork ready Amber went to get her step daughter, when she saw her on the stairs she said with a half smile, "oh good Kayla you're here can you come into the living room we have to talk about somethings." Amber then went into the living room and waited for her stepdaughter.

Kayla was kinda excited now was the time she was about to find out how much money she was going to get! 

She couldn’t wait to txt Kim..

”Um sure Wsup?” 

She came down the stairs 

“Let me go to the bathroom first then sure we can talk I just woke up.” She said smiling as she was in a good mood..

When Kayla returned from the bathroom Amber told her to sit down before saying, "okay Kayla I hate to tell you this but before you came home your school called apparently you were are in serious trouble to the point where they were going to expel you and your grades are also slipping. But I've managed to convince the headmistress of the school to let you stay home for a couple of months before you go back."

Kayla sat down and she was already to hear about her inheritance but then she felt a cold sweat coming on as her step mom brought up her school..

”Oh really Yeah that was just a mistake but it wasn’t my fault I just covered for a friend.” Kayla said as she was pretty sharp on her feet.. 

She figured she would be ok by coming off as a misunderstanding and on reality she was perfectly innocent.. 

As long as I have my money I can hang out for a week or so: She thought to herself as she explained the story to Amber.

"Even if that incident at school was a misunderstanding the headmistress was going to expel you, especially for your poor grades. But again I convinced her that having you suspended for a couple of months would be better under the promise that when you return to school you will be more behaved and your grades will go up." Amber said as she was not going to let her stepdaughter con her way out of this especially since its this exact behavior of hers that had gotten her in trouble numerous times even before going to that fancy private school.

Kayla bristled at the way her step mom talked to her but when she said we’ll behaved that set her off..

”Well behaved I’m not five years old I’ll study harder and get my grades better and everything will be fine now do you know how much money I’m getting me and some friends wanna go out and celebrate!” She said excitedly calming down from the behaved comment!
