I think the fastest I've operated a vehicle was about 125 to 130 MPH, but that was an airplane I was flying.  Fastest I've driven my Trans Am was about 95MPH, but that was in the day on a 2 lane blacktop (ironically on the way home after I had been up for an hour flying an airplane at 125 MPH).

I've hit about 185 MPH airspeed in my plane.    I've seen a ground speed of 280 one time.

I've hit over 100 in my wife's Audi by accident...with the top down even.    I've done more than that on the Autostrada in Italy.

Really neat.  Can you signal your virtue a little more please?

its not about virtue signalling, its about trying to get it through to someone that he is risking someones life, his or someone elses. speeding = recklessness, the faster you go the more you put yourself and someone else at risk, if you dont get that, its not my problem, i did my job. i do however reserve the right to say "i told you so" if something happens and its heard of here.

So because I also track race my life isn't in any danger there??? Thanks for derailing this thread! It wasn't meant to be about my speeding ticket but the fucked up coloring book.

the difference is on a track its just yours, no less valuable than the life of someone else you might end up hitting at those speeds. i dont want anyone getting hurt or killed, but if you are going to race, just do it on a track, no laws broken, no one else risked, that is all that is asked.

I can tell you haven't ever been on a track. Plenty of by standers have been hurt and killed during to accidents involving racing. Again your point about street racing and track racing when it comes to safety shows your lack of ignorance and fear porn when it comes to how it works in the real world. Yes some morons have raced in busy intersection and during high usages times but anyone involved in actual organizations involved street racing doesn't pull that shit. Like I said before it was an empty country road with no on or off ramps between exits. It was a clear straight for 3 miles. The only danger was to myself and the other racer. Had it been on a race track the danger is still present. Do yourself a favor and put on a mask and keep your gas pedal under 40mph because heaven forbid you have an accident and kill yourself or someone else.

The difference between a track and a random street is consent.   Race fans showing up at live races are specifically warned about the possibility of injury or death.

And, in fact, it's not the same at all.   The number of spectator deaths at organized track/road course events is tiny compared to the ones from illicit street racing.

I and the other racer consented to the race. No one was hurt.

someone shows up at a track to watch the race, they know the risks, they pays their money they takes their chances, you say its on a place without anyone there, you dont KNOW that, if you hit and kill someone, its prison for life.

I did know that. We left one exit and seen no one was around. We called down to the other exit to make sure it was clear. Thus no one in the way or on the street. Think I am going to put my 100K+ Mustang and the guy had a 150K+ Porsche in some danger on a public highway with drivers and traffic. You need to go out and find actual street racers and not kids in their dads BMW because its obvious you don't know what you are talking about when it comes to actual organized street racing in groups. WE HAVE NEVER RACED WHERE ANYONE WAS IN ACTUAL DANGER. The worst that could happen is a cop is hidden on a side road(Happened to me) and filmed us\tagged us with radar. Beyond that no one in my group for over 20+ years has ever GOTTEN hurt and that's 100s of cars.

Done arguing with you.

There is one piece of information that is still missing from this story,  who won the race?  Or did the po-po ruin the whole competition?

I won 2k dollars and gapplebee'd that car twice from a dig and once from a bakery roll(40mph start). Sadly my lawyer was 3k but the dude was standup and got a fund at the next cash days to cover the rest. The cop rolled in about 30 minutes later with backup. Guess the Feds are fucking scared of us or something and blocked us in and started asking who's red Shelby that was and from there it was ticket city

The funny part about that is. I was doing that to him at the track which was prepped and I think he thought his all wheeldrive car would have a better chance at me on the street but my car is setup to dig race. As long as the concrete is good and I can do a decent burn out. I am good.

Awesome man, sounds like a lot of fun.  Expensive fun is often the best fun.
