Kyle dropped a kiss on the boys head “course I know sweetheart, that celery with peanut and raisins right? Anyway little babyish really can’t be in the kitchen it’s not safe”

"O-oh... really? I can't even help?" Finny gave his best puppydog eyes to see if he would get to be a kitchen helper.

Kyle considered “I don’t know, you would have to be a very good little listener and do exactly as you are told” he paused and the new rule is you are never to begin the kitchen by yourself does that make sense baby, can you repeat the rule about babies and the kitchen please”

Finn recited in one long breath as if reading from a script: “Babies don’t wear pants and they’re not allowed in the kitchen by themself, and I’m the baby.”

He nodded with a sense of finality.

”so now I get to make ants on a log right?”

Without even listening for an answer the excited boy was running for the kitchen.

Kyle put a hand on the boys shoulder and spun him around. Kneeling down he faced the boy looking in his eyes “baby, what did I just say about  little babies being in the kitchen all by themselves?

"Oh s-sorry... I just got excited is all."

Finn took the bigger boy's hand and led him toward the door.

"I forgot, sometimes grownups get lost too! Hold onto my hand, Kyle so we don't get separated!"

Kyle grinned “your adorable but next time your get a timeout understand my baby”

"Huh... yeah. That's what my Dad would say too." He tugged at the bigger boy, excited for yummy snacks.

Kyle walked into the kitchen “sweetheart do you have an apron or something you wear when you help mommy and daddy cook”

"Oh yeah! It's hanging right up there next to the big apron!"

He pointed to an apron hanging that said 'little chef' on the front. 

"It's...kinda kiddish..." Finn said, looking down and suddenly becoming very interested in playing with his hands. "I don't let very many people see me in stuff like that because I don't like to get made fun of..."

Kyle pulled the little boy in “why would anyone make fun of you sweetheart that’s perfect for a little baby just like you after all you are the baby aren’t you?” He looked at the boy seriously 

he got the apron and dropped it over the boys head “sweetheart what do you call your parents”

"Y-yeah. I guess I am," said Finn, blushing but feeling a little better as well. "Uhm... I call them Mom and Dad. Why do you ask, Kyle?"

Kyle nodded “just trying to decide what you should call me that’s all sweetheart” led the boy over to the table and pulled out a chair “take a seat baby boy while I go get the food”

“Okay Kyle!” Finn said trying to climb up onto the chair. “Am I helping from here?”

Kyle grabbed the celery and peanut butter and raisins then git a knifecspoon and potato peeler, he handed the peeler to the little boy ” do you know how to use this baby, it's a grown up tool and you need to be careful with it”

Finn has a million questions and he didn’t spare Lyle any of them.

“W-what am I gonna peel? Is this for ants on a log? I’ll try but I’m always scared I’ll slip and hurt my hand. Wat we gonna make?”

Kyle chuckled “I can do this part baby... you just use the peeler to get the yucky celery strings off soo you don’t have to eat them. It makes celery much less annoying to eat. He shaved the first piece of celery “just like this” he held up the devained celery “can you do this sweetheart or should I”

“Ohhhh wow! That’s so smart! Yeah I can do it. I did go to college after all. I just gotta be careful.” He grabbed the peeler and started working on the celery stalks

Kyle ruffled the boys hair “hey baby I’ve been thinking it’s not exactly respectful for little babies like you to call their grownups by their first name is it sweetheart”

"Oh, uh... I guess so but... you're younger than me so... I mean..." Finn's voice trailed off and he fidgeted uncomfortably.

Kyle fixed Finn with a stern look “I’m sorry do we need a reminder on whose the grown up and whose the little baby”

“Um, no sir.” Said Finn, with a wide-eyed blush.

Kyle smiled gently “there’s a good boy” he ruffled the little boys hairs. “So then what do you think a little baby just like you should call the person who take care of them just like me”

“Umm... sir, or...Mr. Kyle.” He said. “Is that right?” Whether out of hunger or the uncomfortable topic of conversation, he was beginning to fidget more now, adjusting the front of his diaper  unconsciously.

Kyle smiled “well sir is okay like when you are showing me your good boy manners or answering a question but what do you think you could call me all the time. I don’t like mr. Kyle. I mean we ate practically family now aren’t we baby. What do little boys call the grownups who take care of them “
