The Lucky Ones

Recommended Posts

So... this is my first or second story here and I blame Kimmy. She wrote Keeper's Pet and I had ideas I needed to flesh out on my own. Right now this is no where near as good as what she wrote, but hopefully someone here finds some enjoyment in it.

I always believed I was one of the lucky ones. Seems fairly odd for someone in my current state to think, but it’s true. I never had to study much, and things tended to go my way. I had the best girl friend in high school and the best career afterward. Everybody around me assumed that I would have my own Pet someday. It made sense really. I never tried to hide my interest in the Pet Supply stores, and I even worked at one before I graduated. Some of my friends thought I was simply planning on what to buy when it was inevitably discovered that I was a Keeper.

If only they knew how wrong they were. As I write this I am being kept well diapered and I haven’t been without a collar in years.

I know some Keepers don’t want to handle clean up; that there is a movement by the Unbound to give us ‘freedom’ and whatever, but I was never happier than the day my Keeper told me to throw out all my old underwear. I had always loved seeing the cribs and the strollers for Pets and my Keeper made sure to get me my favorites.

I used to sleep on a crappy futon mattress, now I have a memory foam crib; and no one will ever take it from me.

For me, it all started at work actually.

My job really doesn’t matter to me any more and it really didn’t then. See, I worked at a law firm. I was functionally a glorified secretary, but my job was to interview clients to ensure that they were suitable for one of the specialists here. I hated almost every minute of it, but one day my dream came true. My Keeper walked in the door.

She probably didn’t look like much to any others; she seems shy at first, and though tall, she’s built like a bundle of sticks. I’ve remember the shock on some of her friend’s faces when she brought me home. They had all expected her to be someone’s pet. Skyla was everything to me when I saw her though. I had read reports of what it was like to be Bound and had been lost without it all my life. Whatever she had been in there for was irrelevant, she instantly became the strong, confident Keeper I love the moment she saw me. I can remember that day far more clearly than some of the other Pets I’ve met.

Which is fine by me; I never want to forget the first time she took my hand and led me away from that job. I can barely describe the feelings of wonder as I was buckled into the backseat for the first time… though… I’m still embarrassed about the stain I left there.

Seeing as how that was my first accident though, I can’t complain anymore. By this point I can’t even tell if I’m dry or wet, and I’ve never been happier. Someone from some Unbound cult tried to point this out as a fact that the bond is brainwashing me into enjoying this… I don’t really care though. Skyla has signed me up as the poster child for happy pets, part of the reason I’m writing this is cause she wants a baby and we already have the pills for it. I was the one who asked for the treatment.

Some don’t go in for it, but lots of people like to dress up their pets. I know one that is covered in fur and has the cutest tail. I tried to get that one, but Skyla’s allergic to fur. It won’t matter to me soon though, soon I’ll be taking the medicine that will make me the perfect pet for her.

It’s funny, my old boss actually offered me, a pet!, my old job back. Some sort of ‘Pet’s Are People’ movement… those people are stupid. Don’t they know how nice it is to be told what to do? To have no responsibilities? I’ve wanted nothing more to be a Pet all my life, and now I get to live that. This is my last letter to the Bound Bugle, I know I’ve been a frequent write in; but I don’t know if I’ll even be able to write soon.

And I’ll be all the happier if I can’t.

.

..

Skyla held the empty medicine bottle in her hand as she watched it do it’s thing. Her Pet had always had sort of a dopey smile, and it was interesting to watch it get wider. There was a dullness in her pets eyes that had left only when she took her pet around in the stroller, or brought her pet a new toy. Now? She watched the eyes light up as whatever was still an independent adult vanish under the Bond strengthening medicine.

Now, her Pet would be her precious little one forever.

She truly was one of the lucky ones.

I enjoyed this!  I love how they're both one of the lucky ones!  I love title callbacks <3

And this is the first ever publicly shared fanfic/universe extension of any of my stories!  YAY!  Thank you!

I hope other people play in this universe too.

Thank you for your reply! I will admit this is the first time I've written an AB fic based off of another's writings. I am still considering other places to take this and I may still add more here in the future.

I also love book ends and call backs. I can never pass off the chance to use them
